The third issue of Candy, “The First Transversal Style Magazine,” has 388 pages of trantastic portfolios from the likes of Mariano Vivanco, Ellen von Unwerth and Bruce Weber as well as features on Jackie Collins, Lea T and Jenny Shimizu. And gracing the cover is none other than Chloë Sevigny, posed as noted auteur Terry Richardson – plaid shirt, dirty smirk, black frames, thumbs up and all. Anna Wintour has been credited/blamed/lauded/criticized for the current proliferation of celebrity-driven magazine covers of the past 15 years or so. Love it or hate it, a model has a better chance winning a Pulitzer than landing a U.S. Vogue cover — with a few notable exceptions. While stars are rightfully and contractually beautiful, however, not all of them can cut the couture mustard. Then there are those ladies who love the camera and the camera is kind of obsessed with them. Gaye McDonald, Lili Taylor, Ubah Hassan, Jae Childs, Ariel Meredith, R’el Dade, Jeneil Williams, Cici Ali, Jasmine Tookes and Kelly Moreira star in “Tribute to Black Beauties” with featured players: giant Afros, limbs for days and a heaping helping of sass. Ellen von Unwerth shoots and Giulio Martinelli scores with Prada, Missoni and Ports 1961.

Remember when André Leon Talley came aboard the U.S.S. Tyra, took over America’s Next Top Model and picked the girl to win Cycle 15 within the first 5 minutes? Well, that girl, the long and lanky Ann Ward has made her Vogue Italia debut and the pictures just go to show that ALT can do in one fell swoop what ANTM has been trying to do for 8 years: create an actual top model.

This past weekend GUESS officially released this behind the scenes video for their latest campaign. The video captures the energy of the most recent spring campaign shoot was directed by world renowned photographer, Ellen von Unwerth, who shot the classic GUESS campaigns of the 1980’s and 1990’s including famed GUESS.
