Sarah Jessica Parker‘s departure was a tiny little mention in her Vogue cover story:

When Sex and the City, to her own surprise, made her a fashion star, she launched her own design label and perfumes, as well as signing on to run the Halston Heritage label, a relationship that recently came to an end.

Days after that story broke, Harvey Weinstein has followed SJP out to pasture, leaving the company in which he had equity stake for the past few years. Well, the good news is Halston’s parent company, Hilco, is still confident in the label — at least someone is — as its seen recent growth in retail.

Lady Gaga earned $90 million over the last year, which is pocket change compared to O’s $290 million, but the deciding factor was the Lady’s social media presence.

With 32 million Facebook friends, 10 million Twitter followers and 1 million digital downloads of “Born This Way” in 5 days, it’s Gaga’s world and we’re all just living in it.

She had better watch out, however, as Justin Bieber is nipping at her tranny heels. The 17-year-old pop punk netted $53 million last year and dances his way to a debut on the list at the #3 position.

Rounding out the Top 10 are Broadway babies U2, Elton John, professional philanderer Tiger Woods, “musician” Taylor Swift, Bon Jovi, loveable curmudgeon Simon Cowell and baller/shotcaller LeBron James, thus proving that someone actually still cares about U2, Elton John and Bon Jovi.

Meanwhile, on the fashion front, only 3 models made the list: Gisele (#60), Heidi Klum (#83) and Kate Moss ($94).

Though this list is kind of arbitrary — earnings are based on pre-tax income and don’t include management/agent fees — one cannot deny the global phenomenon that is Lady Gaga. - First season DVDs of Glee and How I Met Your Mother. Glee’s Rachel Berry is the perfect example of what can go wonderfully right and horribly wrong with the child of two gay dads, while fellow real-life gay dad Neil Patrick Harris became America’s Sweetheart again thanks to How I Met Your Mother, or as I like to refer to it, The Only Reasonably Watchable Show on CBS.

- Origins Anti-aging serum. If there’s one thing gay dad needs is the reassurance that though he may be getting old, he’s still looks better than the other moms on the PTA. Okay, maybe that’s not necessarily true, but gay dads are not traditionally honored on Mother’s Day, so why not give them something equally non-traditional? Duckie Brown adds more than a fair share of sass and slouch to men’s clothing and though my first instinct draws me to these drop-crotch pants, for gay dad a pair of fun, fashionable shorts that can take him from the grill to the bath house and back again seems a tad more appropriate.

- Tickets to Priscilla, Queen of the Desert on Broadway. With reviews like this: “Every conceivable surface has been decked with sequins, spattered with colored lights, plastered in mirrored chips or trimmed in feathers and fringe,” how could anyone resist? A feel-good musical about the original mothers of the world — drag queens — in a series of outlandish costumes and a disco ball’s worth of dance-pop hits, a trip to Priscilla will give gay dad a Mother’s Day he won’t likely forget…particularly with the number of buff, nearly naked go-go boys traipsing about. You gotta give daddy what he wants.

- Karl Lagerfeld responded in his typical thoughtful and sensitive manner when asked about Christophe Decarnin‘s departure from Balmain: ”Forget about it! This was a job done by a fashion editor. I don’t even know the name of the man who did it, so don’t ask me about that.” [Fashionologie]

- Britney Spears caused a minor riot when she made a surprise appearance at raptress Nicki Minaj‘s after party this weekend, causing six fans to reportedly hyperventilate and pass out from exhaustion dehydration excitement. Monster Mother Goddess, Lady Gaga, can certainly share some tips on dressing the part: after walking in the Mugler show she subsequently bought the entire collection. It’s doubtful that Natalie and Rachel could walk in these towering platforms, but they’re on Team Sheen and Team Sheen is all about winning. And winners don’t fall, except perhaps from grace.

Elton, it seems, has really taken to fatherhood; not only does he change his son Zachary’s dirty diapers, he loves the smell of them too.

“I love the smell of nappies,” he said at a press junket for Gnomeo and Juliet, which he produced. John added, “Fatherhood is fantastic. It’s been the most wonderful thing that’s happened to me after meeting David.”

Aww. So glad that Elton’s maternal instinct has kicked in. Personally, I had my maternal instinct removed ages ago in a darkened alley by a “doctor” of ill repute, but to each her own.

Though this sadly won’t be a tribute episode to the Gloved One and we’ll have to sit through covers of the Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry and Lady Antebellum. I nearly fell asleep at the keyboard after writing that.

This episode will be Glee’s most expensive ever and probably one of the most expensive in television history. The storyline will focus on the local football championship and the Cheerios cheerleading regionals. I hope this means Sue Sylvester‘s doing Vincent Price’s rap then:

The foulest stench is in the air/ The funk of forty thousand years/ Or could I be mistaken/ Will Schuester’s hair?

And if that isn’t enough news to bejewel your cape,  there’s a tribute episode to Dame  Elton John in the works. Give me a little “Benny and the Jets” mixed with a little “Circle of Life” and I’ll be happy.

Now, I’m an old-school gay. I wear ascots. I drink openly and during the day. I have a thriving relationship with marijuana and I’m not afraid of non-prescription pills of any size, color or make. But most of all, I love me some Judy Garland. Give me Meet Me in St. Louis Judy. A Star Is Born Judy. Judy Live at Carnegie Hall. Judy face down in her own sick. I can understand why her death would have prompted any drag queen to hurl the first heel.

So it was with a beaming smile and a drunken heart that I observed America’s sweetheart…and Lea Michele pay a loving homage to this (seriously, look at it) legendary performance between Ms. Garland and another titan of homo-rific proportions, Babs Streisand. With all these Ke$has crawling out of garbage dumps  and Biebers crawling out of wombs still in their diapers, it’s refreshing to see music and artists from a bygone era brought to a new generation.

Enticed by the lure of a free dinner at Breadsticks — where you can get as many breadsticks as you like, that’s right, all you can eat! — the kids in new Directions paired up for a friendly competition. Everyone starts doing duets and love blossoms in the least likely places. Finn and Rachel  “rehearse” Elton John/Dee’s classic, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” (1976) only to realize that they’re  just too damn good and have to throw the competition…for the sake of the team.

Meanwhile, Brittany and Santana are making out –yes, that’s right, making out — on Brit’s bed. Santana claims she’s only fooling around with Brittany because Puck is in juvi (not sure that came from). After breaking Brittany’s simple, possibly sapphic heart, Santana seeks a duet partner in a reluctant Mercedes. Together they pulled off the first major highlight of the show, a Tina Turner-strutting version of “River Deep – Mountain High” (1966).

Brittany in turn moves in on to Artie and takes his virginity. Kurt, hoping to get some of his own, pursues the hot new kid, Sam, who looks like a Sean Cody (or maybe Bel Ami) “model,”to be his partner. Finn, however, swoops in, crushing their duet with some homophobic bullying, if I do say so myself. Finn claims that Sam would do best to avoid being partners with Kurt to avoid people from expecting he, too, might practice the love that dare not speak its name.

Kurt takes this in stride and rebounds showstoppingly with a rendition of “Le Hot Jazz” from Victor/Victoria (1982). Sam, noticeably intrigued has, however, already taken up with ex-teen mom, Quinn F-ing Fibray. Sparks inevitably fly — though I’m still not convinced that Sam kid isn’t a flaming homo (Kurt, don’t gfive up so soon!) — and they sing some awful piece of excrement from, I’m told, Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat. And of course they win, thanks, yet again, to Finn and Rachel.

Aside from that one song, most if not all of the songs were first recorded before most of the cast was born. After last week’s emotionally heavy episode,  “Duets” was a nice counterpoint. However, there was no Sue Sylvester and that is something that I simply cannot abide by. After the first ten minutes I felt something missing. Would a Sue/Will duet have killed anyone?

Lady Gaga has reportedly purchased the piano, made by controversial Canadian artist Terence Koh, that she used for her collaboration with Sir Elton John at the Grammy Awards, which cost $470,000!

Fashion is in a giving mood. In the wake of Gucci’s UNICEF campaign comes the news that shoe giant, in and out of heels, Jimmy Choo, has teamed up with the Elton John AIDS Foundation for Project PEP.

Choo and the EJAF teamed up in 2005 on the funding of the Simela Centre in South Africa, and Project PEP will help that organization. Twenty five per cent of net sales from the range of clutches, shoes and bags featuring a punk rock motif (when did Elton go punk?) going to the Cape Town centre which assists victims of rape.
