MOMENTS OF STYLE: Erin Wasson

I’ve never sat back and said, “Ugh, I wish I had her life,” but this photo is a perfect example of why I idolize Erin Wasson. Fur, gladiators, piled on jewelry, biker shorts, wind-blown hair- God, style after my own heart!
Thanks Le Fashion!
QUOTABLE: Erin Wasson, Model/Designer

“There are so many young girls that get tied into this old, super-glammed up look because it’s safe. I look at girls like Megan Fox and think, God, you’re not 35. Come on. Have fun! It’s the people that make those lists that I’m most interested in, because they are wearing something that’s thought-provoking.”

RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Erin Wasson x RVCA Spring 2010

It’s safe to say that an established model knows fashion just as well as an established designer. Model Erin Wasson decided to pair her expertise in both genres for her design debut with Erin Wasson x RVCA Spring 2010 collection. Having seen Miss Wasson amongst the thousands at Opening Ceremony on Fashion’s Night Out, the collection is very much her personal style translated to the runway. It’s grungy. It’s vintage. It’s downtown. It’s everything you’d expect a model to stroll through the streets of Soho wearing. Loving the gauzy, top/pant set as well as the hole-ridden, oversized top!

MOMENTS OF STYLE: Erin Wasson

Runway coach Drew Linehan once compared me to Erin Wasson and holding true to that statement was my Erin-esque outfit choice for the day. Just as I rocked several thrift store finds (including my $0.49 1990’s Lamborghini tank top), Erin Wasson flawlessly pulled off her 90’s inspired garb at the Opening Ceremony Tokyo launch.

Erin Wasson Will Show for 1100 Guests On Sept 12

Erin Wasson is bringing her first runway show at Bryant Park’s biggest Tent venue to 1,100 guests.
The show, which is for both her RVCA line and her Low Luv jewelry collection, is set for Friday, Sept. 12 at 8 pm and will feature both a multi-media installation and a “special musical guest to play live on the catwalk.”
AD-DICT: Erin Wasson for Pinko Fall 09

Recently Erin Wasson has been doing alot of PR work. She’s successfully transformed from model to mogul a la Kate Moss and this Pinko campaign plays on her new larger then life personality. Erin looks right at home posing in front of her huge likeness, not surprising since the clothes are totally Erin’s style: leather, studs and sequins.

QUOTABLE: Hussein Chalayan

It seems to me that I’m not the only one annoyed by celebrity multitaskers, because designer Hussein Chalayan had this to say about models, like Kate Moss, Erin Wasson, Elle Macpherson, and Amber Valletta, who also design clothing:
“If you have a really strong sense of style and people want to aspire to being like you, I can understand that,” he says. “But if you really are doing it just because you think of yourself as a brand and you haven’t had the training and you know nothing about clothes, it kind of demeans all the training that designers have had.”
Thanks NY Mag!
Erin Wasson’s Summer Mix Tape

Erin Wasson has made a name for herself recently: she designed a collection for RVCA, styled Alexander Wang’s shows and shoots for Elle Magazine. Already sharing her style secrets, Erin is now letting us know her favorite summer tracks. Does good style equate good taste in music? You decide.
1. “Kiss Me Deadly” – Lita Ford
2. “Love Is in Control” – Donna Summer
3. “Honky Tonk Woman” – The Rolling Stones
4. “Revolution Blues” – Neil Young
5. “Help Me Rhonda” – The Beach Boys
6. “Gone Daddy Gone” – Violent Femmes
7. “Cecilia” – Simon & Garfunkel
8. “Egyptian Reggae” – Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers

LAST NIGHT’S PARTY: Lipgloss, High Heels and Poise

Most fashion events leave you with a handful of new acquaintances, a stack of useless business cards and a seemingly incurable hangover. Leave it up to the ladies at Purple Lab to turn the tables and supply me with a newfound obsession in Purple Lab beauty products, the grace needed to light up a room, the ability to walk like a supermodel and some great new friends! Yesterday evening, I got in touch with my feminine side by trading in my harem pants and boyfriend blazer for some Coach stilettos and a slinky Mint dress and joining in on all the beauty talk.
Purple Lab is one of the newest and most innovative beauty lines on the market, staying on top of trends while providing women with dual-action products and a message of female empowerment. As the brainchild of fashion and beauty Renaissance woman, Karen Robinovitz, who knows the industry, inside and out, Purple Lab hit shelves in May 2009 with six of the best lip-glosses I’ve had the pleasure of trying. With adorable names like “Red Sole,” inspired by the soles of Christian Louboutin heels, and “Worship Kate,” Kate Moss that is, the Purple Lab glosses are equipped with stunning color, lip plumper and an array of bonuses like soothing lemon peel or Hoodia, the appetite suppressant. Purple Lab is projected to launch a line of skin-care products as well as other types of makeup in the near future.
Following their motto of female confidence and pride, the ladies at Purple Lab brought in supermodel runway coach, Drew Linehan, to teach us how to be the envy of all the social gatherings and walk like a supermodel. After throwing my shoulders back, sticking my chest out and owning my personality, Drew flattered me and complimented me on my Erin Wasson-esque, quirky walk! While all the ladies looked fierce stomping down our makeshift runway at The Gates, I must say, Karen, at a mere 5′2″, had the presence of Gisele!
Sound fun? Well you don’t have to be name in the fashion/beauty scene to join in on it! Purple Lab is all about their customers, so if you show an interest in the company, you can expect an invite to Purple Lab’s next event, or better, a Tweet-Up session at Karen’s apartment! I might not be the biggest makeup/ beauty guru out there, but Purple Lab is one brand you need in your purse at all times!
Stay tuned for videos from the event as well as Purple Lab giveaways!
Purple Lab products can be found at a variety of stores like Scoop, Fred Segal, Bliss, C.O. Bigelow and online at bglowing.com.

More Muse Models At The Met

Monday night’s feature presentation might have been the photographs in the Model as Muse exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but coming in close second were the muse models themselves. I’ve run into a few of these bread winners on the street, but I must admit, nothing would be more intimidating than being towered over by a glamorous, naturally gorgeous and fashionable beanpole.
I have few qualms here. Anja Rubik showed some major leg. Daria Werbowy braved the infamous Balmain shoulders. Erin Wasson rocked the androgynous look. Sasha Pivovarova went simple on the dress and crazy on the feathers. But Natalia Vodianova…she looked like an innocent Princess Peach. This is the Met Gala, not a Super Mario convention.

SPREAD UM: V Magazine Swimsuit Issue

V Magazine’s swimsuit issue is really the only thing I care about this week. Beautiful models, it tiny little swimwear equals more than enough joy for all of us. “We chose the sexiest bodies in the world and those that had a special connection to the Testino world; a lot of the guys and girls photographed grew up with V readers over the years.” Check out who made the cut below.

As I sit here, staring at my failed attempt of an edgy college dorm transformation, I cannot help but imagine my future SoHo apartment or the decor of Vogue when I replace Anna Wintour. I’m planning on some enormous skylights, exposed brick walls, wood floors and an eclectic array of mix-matched furniture and art. For now, the grimy bathtub and excruciating fluorescent lighting will have to do, but who says a girl can’t plan ahead? I’ve started to gather inspiration from some of my favorite designers, models and writers, photographed by Todd Selby, in their homes and workspaces. Thanks to The Selby, who photographs “interesting people in creative spaces” I can live vicariously through others until I get my big break. Kanye And GF Sit Front Row at Paris Fashion Week

Kanye West and his girlfriend Amber Rose were front row at many shows during Paris Fashion Week, including Hussein Chalayan, Sonia Rykiel, and Givenchy.
Amber Rose wore one of my fave dresses from the Alexander Wang Spring 09 show, which she accessorized with Louis Vuitton heals and bag (also straight off the Spring 09 runway).
‘The risky dress is completely sheer, with a few strategically placed black embossed swirl coils. Another feature is that the mini dress has cut-out thumbs at the sleeves.’
According to Red Carpet Fashion only 2 other girls wore this dress, Erin Wasson, and Sarah Harding and it’s available at Barney’s for $995.

Erin Wasson x RVCA Launch Delayed

We let you know last month that Erin Wasson x RVCA was set to launch February 1 in stores and online. But it looks like the goods are nowhere to be found just yet.
Fashionologie reports, “According to RVCA, there’s been a week delay for unspecified reasons.”
Erin Wasson x RVCA Launches February 1

Erin Wasson’s anticipated collaboration with RVCA has been given a launch date of February 1.
In August Wasson signed a 3-year deal with the skater-influenced brand
Expect Alexander Wang-inspired grungy basics of black, white, and gray, and of course, denim cut-offs. Her line will be available in the U.S. at Opening Ceremony, Barney’s, and Ron Herman.
Thanks for the info, Bleach Black.
Erin Wasson Further Proves That LA Is Full of Idiotic Celebrities

First Paris Hilton, then some publicist (who begged the Post to remain anonymous) and now model Erin Wasson can be added to the list of idiotic celebraties who can’t seem to work a lock on their massive L.A. homes.
Erin was at home when thieves stole tens of thousands of dollars in jewelry and clothing including highly covetable pieces from Alexander McQueen, Dior, Givenchy and William Rast. Like Paris she was genius enough to leave her front door wide open for the opportunistic swipers. Good job bonehead.
