- Karlie Kloss, movie star. Kloss’ rise to superstardom in the world of modeling means that Hollywood will begin knocking on her door, if they haven’t rammed it down already. Karlie may be following in the strides of other model-turned-actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and is eschewing the catwalk for the film studio.

- Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s a beauty contract. While the runway pays well for girls of Karlie’s stature, a beauty campaign can set a model on the catwalk to Easy Street for the rest of her life. Since snagging Estée Lauder, when’s the last time you saw Hilary Rhoda walk a show?

- Karlie Kloss, new creative director at Christian Dior. This may be a bit of a stretch, but the house does love them some Kloss. She hasn’t missed a step in a single Dior show — from couture to resort — in years and Bernard Arnault might want to just keep her around.

- Strike a pose, there’s nothing to it. As everyone knows, models making the cover of Vogue is as rare as a viable Republican candidate for the presidency. So what better reason to cancel on Fashion Week than to jet off to Paris for an exclusive shoot with Mario Testino for a star-making cover?

- Karlie Kloss DiCaprio. After she walked in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Leonardo DiCaprio was reportedly smitten with the leggy Ms. Kloss. He’s landed Gisele and Bar Refaeli, why not add the newest bright young thing to his collection of catwalkers?

Mary Alice Stephenson wears a lot of hats!  Her Facebook followers are in the five figures, she is a media go-to for her red carpet commentating and heart-filled fashion segments, a world renown stylist who has styled for icons such as Avedon, Hiro, Demarchelier, Lindbergh and Richardson as well as serving as a brand ambassador and spokesperson for many Fortune 500 brands.   Oh, and we can’t forget to mention how cool it is that she and Barbie are talking fashion in her “dream” closet for BarbieWow.com next week, while still making time to be the national fashion ambassador for the Make a Wish Foundation.  She gives her time and love for fashion to many charitable organizations all while being a single mom.  She’s our new hero and we think soon to be yours, too!

As a fashion consultant, you get to do something different every day- which days are you favorite?

Every day is different and I love it that way!  It’s such a mix — from red carpet commentating to consulting behind the scenes for Fortune 500 companies, to creative directing, to styling editorial shoots with top photographers. Each week it’s high fashion to mass fashion, it keeps me happy to be in both worlds!  I can reach so many real women all over the world via social media, my followers love that they can get a look into the real world of fashion and learn how they can apply that glamour to their lives in a realistic way.  One day I’m shooting for a European Vogue, doing a fashion segment for the Nate Berkus show or styling a supermodel for Estee Lauder and the next day I could be helping real women get their glam on in a mall in middle America!

Who are young designers that we should be looking to for the future of fashion?

I just had lunch with the talented designers of Cushnie et Ochs, I try to support as many up and coming designers as possible.  I know how tough this business can be and how much support they need to make it.   I love Flora and Alexa from Ohne Titel, Juan Carlos Obando, Joseph Altruzara, Christian Cota, Suno, Frank Tell….  There is so much talent out there right now.  I try to shoot their clothes, or get them on the red carpet as well as talk about their clothes in the media to help get their point of view out to mass America.  The American public needs to know there are more options than just the big brands that can afford to advertise.  It’s still a struggle, for example, there were a wide range of luxury brands seen on the Golden Globe red carpet but where were Erdem, Prabal Gurung, Thakoon, Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler?  I was happy to see Givenchy, Nina Ricci and Jason Wu, though —  so that is some progress!

We here at FashionIndie could not agree more! There were five finalists, one each in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s. They each receive a $5,000 cash prize and gifts from Estée Lauder, with the grand prize winner awarded an additional $5,000. And the grand prize went to….

Brandyn Barbara Artis! She is in her 60s, always effortlessly chic and fabulous. “Brandyn has been a wife, mother, grandmother, breast cancer survivor, lobbyist/cancer awareness advocate, playwright, actress, US air force veteran, all with grace and elegance,” says her friend who nominated her.

All of the contestants were gorgeous, and obviously Sam and I were drooling over how hot Elizabeth Hurley is in person.

Moodform agreed to handle the creation of the fragrance, the bottle and packaging design, market research, testing, branding and advertising and in return Naomi would pay the company 25% of her profits from sales.

According to Moodform’s attorney, Dan Bright, “there was no guarantee anyone would pick…up [the deal],” however Moodform was close to inking a deal with Estée Lauder.  They, however, got their panties in a bunch after reports circulated that the super had a drug overdose while on vacation in the Canary Islands and the deal fell through.

Campbell then crawled out of her crypt and eventually signed a licensing deal with Cosmopolitan Cosmetics that would give her 4% of her fragrance’s net sales, thus in turn giving Moodform 1% of overall product sales.

Moodform claims they stopped receiving payments after Naomi signed a new deal with Muelhens, an affiliate of Cosmopolitan, to sell the same fragrance line in 2008.

Bright and his client estimate that Campbell made $15 million off her perfume and are now seeking $8 million, in addition to other costs.

Got all that? So now Naomi and co. are trying to keep the upcoming hearings private. In a letter to the judge, Judith Gische, Naomi’s attorney, Sandra Crawshaw-Sparks, stated that:

“[T]he defense has ‘serious concerns’ that perjury allegations made against Campbell, her manager Bruno Michel and her U.K. lawyer Gideon Benaim will ‘poison any potential jury pool’ if made public.”

No stranger to legal troubles, Campbell was called to the stand at the Hague this summer over allegations that she had received blood diamonds from ex-Liberian president Charles Taylor.

Carole White was also subpoenaed and  joined hands with Mia Farrow to throw Naomi under the bus, testifying that the supermodel did indeed receive those “dirty looking pebbles.”

Looks like Carole White and Naomi Campbell have a lot of issues to settle and whether it’s done publicly or privately, it’s going to get ugly.

And Mia Farrow better watch her back.

Estée Lauder announced today that the company has signed an agreement to purchase Smashbox Cosmetics.

Smashbox was founded in 1996 by the Factor brothers, Dean and Davis, great-grandsons of Hollywood makeup legend Max Factor. Drawing inspiration from celebrity photoshoots, the brand’s products were developed to stand up against harsh lighting and camera lenses better than traditional cosmetics.

Dean Factor is quite pleased with the brand’s new ownership saying, “The Company possesses the scale and vision to help transition Smashbox into its next phase of growth, and its track record of nurturing and growing prestige brands is second to none. Moreover, we share a similar cultural heritage and dedication to consumer-inspired innovation and creativity.”

And Estée Lauder stands to gain from the partnership as well.

“Smashbox is the leading Hollywood photo studio-inspired cosmetics brand with a devoted following and timeless appeal,” said John Demsey, Estée Lauder Companies' Group President. “We are excited to be acquiring a uniquely positioned cosmetics brand with true talent well known for engaging consumers across prestige channels and in the digital media space. Smashbox fits perfectly within our DNA, and we look forward to continuing to delight our consumers together.”

The Factor brothers will continue to work with Smashbox out of their Los Angeles, California headquarters.

Don’t know how newsworthy it is when a company finally decides to embrace diversity after decades of ignoring a race, but Estee Lauder has just signed French model Constance Jablonski and Chinese model Liu Wen to join their roster of global beauties.

They will be joining Hilary Rhoda, Carolyn Murphy, Elizabeth Hurley and Gwyneth Paltrow – in a debut  global advertising campaigns beginning June 2010.
