The current catwalk record was set in 2010 by Paris’ Galeries Lafayette when 521 people strutted their stuff. But Express is determined to best them with their holiday 2011 fashion show in Times Square Saturday night.

From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Express will open their runway to the general public while an official from Guinness officiates. So if you’re in Midtown Saturday and you don’t mind sharing the fashion spotlight with commoners, you can be part of history.

I, for one, can never turn down a catwalk and while I have an emergency pair of stilettos in my purse at all times, I can’t really justify being in, around or near Times Square on a weekend.

Not to mention, I’d inevitably have to be removed after verbally assaulting any and every one who didn’t properly bring it to the runway. [WWD]

The Suit: Everyone knows that the suit makes the man and that’s why the Don wouldn’t be caught dead not wearing one. There are many suits that a guy can wear that will carry the same presence. For the more conservative exec a plain black suit that fits well is always recommended and adding a pinstripe in your repertoire will have people appreciating you attention to detail. The Shirt: The same rules apply for the shirt as it did for the suit. You rarely see Donald on Celebrity Apprentice wearing a non solid color (or white for that matter) shirt. To make this look your own bust out this this mindset and go for your patterns. It’s always cool when you take your jacket off and there is a completely new look there. The Tie: When it comes to style I feel like if you walked into Trump Towers without a tie you would be fired immediately. The Trump man keeps it pretty simple with his neck wear. I really don’t see the point of this brand trying to act like people care about the exact same pencil skirt coming down the runway each season, it’s the equivalent of Express trying to convince us that anything ever changes in their mens collection, not happening.

So when they decided to host a fashion show, you can understand my apprehension towards attending. I thought about hitting it up, but when I didn’t get a seat confirmation, I skipped it and decided to just watch the drama unfold on the twitterverse.

Big surprise, drama ensued.

Aside from having 200+ people in standing room, a number of guests were left outside. To add injury to insult, top blogs like Styleite where forced to mingle with the common folk as they watched toddlers seated front row. Guess someones baby mama at Bebe took a seat over child support this month.

Eitherway, the show seemed to be a total bust, with most editors annoyed with the massive crowds and random frontrowers. Here’s a few of the most entertaining tweets…

Today, Express goes pubic on the exchange. Tomorrow, the brand will be ringing the stock market bell and is hosting a public fashion show with Alek Wek, Izabel Goulart, Flavia de Oliveira,  Michael Camiloto and Ryan Kennedy.
