THE TEN: Best Street Style Blogs (Besides Fashion Indie, Of Course)

We asked, and you told! Here are some of the best street style blogs (besides ours), including some favorites mentioned by our Twitter followers (in no particular order):

Picture 2Picture 3IS MENTAL: An awesome blog in itself, but also featuring some rad streetstyle from the webworld

Picture 4THE TEN: Best Street Style Blogs (Besides Fashion Indie, Of Course) all indieAltamira NYC: Nicknamed the ‘off duty models blog,’ all sorts of industry peeps are featured on Altamira, making it even better than it already is to look at for street style.

Picture 5THE TEN: Best Street Style Blogs (Besides Fashion Indie, Of Course) all indieHoy Fashion: Streetstyle from London, Manchester, and Liverpool. What I like best about this styleblog is that it also includes close-ups of everyone’s faces

Picture 6THE TEN: Best Street Style Blogs (Besides Fashion Indie, Of Course) all indieJak and Jil: An absolute favorite, Jak and Jil frequent events and fashion shows, catching models, designers, and other fashion peeps, which makes for the most fashionable styleblog on the web

Picture 7Picture 8Glam Canyon: A typical feature in Fashion Indie’s RAW feed, and another unique look at style worldwide

Picture 9THE TEN: Best Street Style Blogs (Besides Fashion Indie, Of Course) all indieStyle Defined: A look at NYC’s style elite, and a guest photographer at Fashion Indie’s SoHo Grand events!

Picture 10THE TEN: Best Street Style Blogs (Besides Fashion Indie, Of Course) all indieThe Sartorialist: Given.  So painfully cool that they have their own book.

Picture 11Picture 12Lookbook.nu: The roots of style blogs everywhere (including numerous style bloggers). Lookbook.nu was formerly an exclusive street style blog for invited members only, but I think they’ve opened it to the rest of the public now (judging by some of the horrors found on the site…) Regardless, it’s always a good site for Street Heroes, by the thousands.

Picture 13Picture 14Face Hunter: Another worldwide photo snapper, Face Hunter was the first style blog that I ever began to frequent (back when I was still in Michigan and didn’t know my way around the internet). I think I made a wise first choice, and I’ve been coming back ever since.

Picture 15blog 089Click Clash: An East Coast street style blogger with a lot of fresh taste. Also, check out the blogroll in the right column, tons and tons of good clicks!

Who’s your favorite? Someone we missed?

TrendSpark: Hair Matching Clothes all indieI was browsing through Face Hunter last night, admiring some fellow fashion forward friends (tongue twister!) when I fell in love with this British ginger’s style. Maybe it is coincidence, but I love how every garment matches his hair! The burnt red is everywhere…his button up, the stripes of his sweater-vest, his belt, his mittens and his native american inspired coat! Looking to accentuate your unique hair color? Easy. Take it from this guy, wearing an array of clothing that falls in the same color scheme as your hair color is a sure fire way of turning heads. Who knows, maybe you’ll wind up on Face Hunter!

Thanks Face Hunter!

The Bashed: Vogue’s Attempt at Finding Street Heroes

My mom always told me “If you have nothing nice to say, then don’t say anything.” Well sorry mom, today is the day I bash the fashion magazine you raised me on. While surfing Vogue’s website, I realized that whoever is in charge of the “Street Chic” section must be scrounging for fashionable city slickers. I know that Vogue has more important things to worry about, but why on earth would the kings and queens of the fashion industry allow websites like The Sartorialist and Face Hunter run circles around them when it comes to scoping out well done street fashion? Rumor has it that The Sartorialist is in charge of Vogue’s “Street Chic,” but if that is the case, he obviously gave Vogue all of the reject shots. Feast your eyes on fashion that is anything but “heroic”:

I guess this girl threw on everything white in her closet...must have been the day before Labor Day.

Frumpy plaid is chic? I saw her dad wear that shirt yesterday.

Vogue...why would you advocate people who wear high-waisted jeans the WRONG way? She looks like she's going to pick up the kids at soccer, or drop them off at the pool. Take your pick.

Congratulations! You look like every other tourist who visits New York City in the fall!

Wait. So you're telling me that if I wear a raincoat and leggings I'll make an appearance on Vogue.com? Game on!

A t-shirt. A pair of jeans. Some Converse. How is this "Street Chic" worthy?

I can hear "Dueling Banjos" in the background. Yuck.

Sorry Vogue…please don’t let this bash jeopardize my internship application come next fall…please.
