What If Hollywood Really Was One Big High School?

Edited by

Celebrities are always saying that Hollywood is superficial and cliquish, just like high school. Inspired by that idea, we’ve pulled the yearbook photos of some of our favorite actors, musicians, and TV personalities, and tried to figure out where they would have fit in back in the day. You might be surprised to see where certain stars landed — while for others, it looks like nothing has changed at all.

National Geography for Fashion? No way.

Edited by

-BOBO’S RANDOM PROBING OF THE SPACE-TIME CONTINUUM CONTINUES!-

With the help of Mr Marty McFly of course!

David Attenborough: (With that typical Nat-Geo commentator voice) We’re currently on the planet Erdem… and
what you see ahead of us are a flock of Erdemians. These creatures are
highly sophisticated fashionistas who are known to be very mellow
creatures, never aggressive and extremely tolerant. In fact, it’s even
been said that you can fart in the face of an Erdemian and can expect no
hostility. Now let’s get closer and try that out! *Surreptitiously
stalks the Erdemians, pouncing about in the bushes… WEEEE!!!*

-Marty McFly’s time-travelling contraption shoots through the space-time continuum, ripping a hole in the fabric of reality and bursts
through… into LONDON FASHION WEEK FALL/WINTER 2010! Crashing
right in front of David Attenborough!-

David Attenborough: This here ladies and gentlemen is a time-travelling
contraption. It’s a very mellow creature known to feed only on grass.
HEY WAIT. WHATTHEHELL THE SCRIPT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE!
^*&*&@^^!@%#

-Bobo Baroque steps out of the vehicle-

Bobo Baroque: Step away from the Erdemians David! First of all, this isn’t no bloody planet Erdem… we were done with that
series in the last post on Missoni! Sheesh. Nat-Geo needs some fresh
material! We’re in London now! I think. *I haven’t really decided where
this story shall play out but whattheheck right?* And secondly, HOW DARE
YOU SWEAR ON DOMESTIC TELEVISION! You can only do that on the internet!
Like me! And thirdly, stick to your koala-bears, centipedes,
venus-fly-traps and cows please! *Mooo* Cause even though you can run
around in nature with a shirt and khaki trousers and never seem to ever
sweat/get dirty… THAT DOESN’T MAKE YOU A FASHION-REVIEWER-PERSON! Only
people like me! 15 year olds completely untrained in formal fashion
education with a delusional state of mind and too much time can be a
fashion-reviewer-person!

-The End-

Well firstly… NO! That wasn’t some completely strange conversation… it’s
because Erdem always draws inspiration from nature… and because this
season… he was looking at…

Erdem Moralioglu’s twin sister, Sara, makes TV documentaries about geography
and natural history. He’s been looking at her films, watching the
survival movie Alive, and thinking, he said, “about Picnic at
Hanging Rock
: girls surviving on the mountain. Elegantly, sort
of.”

And I thought it’d be fun to play with that in my own lil’ strange way. Why am I explaining myself. HMM.
KRAYZEH PEOPLE DO NOT EXPLAIN THEMSELVES!

Hahaha. And well. Yes… I’m having a very strange fetish for conversations with celebrities right now *a.k.a
MYSELF!* Hmm. Probably it’s my progression from delusion to insanity.
But hey! The greatest people in the world are the craziest right?

Well anyways, on to more serious things! *becooz a 15 year old freako talking about flashion is bigg buziness!*

Continuing with my travelling back in time to previous fashion weeks, this time round we’re going back to London Fashion Week 2010 for
Erdem’s show! *as you may have guessed…*

Always bewitching with his surreally incandescent pieces (with their insanely
vivid prints!) which resonate so strongly with the romanticism of nature
and a charming sweetness, you can never not be viscerally affected by
Erdem.

And for this season, he did not disappoint.

National Geography for Fashion? No way.

This has got to be my favourite piece in the entire collection! Well it’s in my favourite hue! And that embroidery on it
which looks like diseased red blood cells just kills me. It’s strangely
morbid! I LIKE! I DIE!

Psychedelic-y birds! Genius!

Hahaha I love this one too! It feels like the Erdem gal has matured (represented by the lace) but still has a hint of her playful
Erdemianism! (represented by the prints)

While Erdem may have shifted from the vibrant explosions of iridescent prints of
last season to a more earthly range of colours this season (such as
Ochre, Rust, etc), setting the mood for fall, it didn’t at all
compromise him. I know how everyone fell in love with him due to his
vivid prints and amazing plethora of colours… but I like this
collection, precisely because it played with more sombre tones and those
psychedelic-y, blurred prints.

It was like the Erdem girl wasn’t just that innocent little thing anymore… she wasn’t just
the naive little butterfly .. but rather she became the psychedelic-y
moth which was a bit more matured, a bit more enigmatic, a bit more
sombre but still with a hint of vibrancy; she became darker.

In fact, when I saw the colour palette, I started thinking about the cover of
“The Silence of the Lambs”…

National Geography for Fashion? No way.

HMM.

It’s not necessarily a bad thing. If anything, I think he’s evolved as a designer. I mean I enjoy the fact
that he took a step back from his usual buckets of sweetness, and this
time around making the Erdem girl a little bit darker… a little bit
more sombre… a little bit more matured… but still! Ever-modern,
ever-elegant, ever-chic. In her own eccentric lil’ Erdem way of course.
It was like he bewitched us all once more, but rather than this time
being like the cartoon version of “Alice in Wonderland”… this was more
of Tim Burton’s take on “Alice in Wonderland”… you know?

Darkly Romantic. With nature.

Nonetheless though, for all you die-hard lollipop-lovers, this collection still reflected the romanticism of
nature that Erdem seems so irrevocably in love with. *And I must say,
that I’m following suit!*

Overall, I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this collection, from his…

Vivid psychedelic-y prints

To his intricate embroidery

This collection was sumptuous, romantic, eccentric and playful. Yet, with little hints of maturity and
darkness… Very very delicious!

And I guess Erdem has proven to us once more that he’s a great designer… capable of making romantic, elegant pieces
for women, without making it feel dated or cliched… *not like Dior*
but rather eccentric, with the vivid prints and
embellishments/embroideries/decorations… and very very modern, with
strong yet flirtatious silhouettes.

With such stellar talent, that unique penchant for nature and quirky little designs… Erdem is
definitely one to watch!

And one completely deserving of being the first recipient of the BFC/Vogue
Designer Fashion Fund Award
