Anything Other Than Naked presupposes you’re not naked. Assuming you are, in fact, clothed and you are, indeed, a man open to fashion advice – this book is for you.

Glen guides his readers though a meticulous journey in dapper. Underscoring the secret style tips that every man should know, Anything Other Than Naked spotlights each staple of a man’s wardrobe and reveals how each should look, fit and how to pull it all together.

Suits, slacks, dress shirts, ties and all the rest – the book takes each must-have “man category” and breaks them down into easily digestible formats via related subcategory (ie, Outerwear: Winter scarf, Gloves, Hats & Umbrellas). Glen initially started writing the project as a style checklist for his four sons, and it largely seems to have retained the same fatherly tone. (Who better than dad to help tie that half-windsor?)

I’d recommend this book for young men who’re learning the basics of style: the “how-tos,” the “dos and don’ts ” and the “oh my god what were you thinkings” if you will. Overall, a fine read that could appropriately sit above any dude’s dresser.

The only thing better than an awesome hotel & casino, of course, is a luxurious awesome hotel & casino. Last weekend was a glorious celebration of life, Ricky Martin and casino #winning compliments of the Borgata.

Night one, Fashion Indie dined at the hotel’s own Izakaya restaurant, devouring delicious Japanese cuisine and toppling tasty saké by the carafe-full.

Post-meal we skipped over to the Borgata Event Center to see none other than the recently reinvented Ricky Martin. Actually, his new songs are much like his old ones (except markedly gayer, more Salsa-influenced and basically all Spanish lyrics. Okay, maybe they’re nothing alike).

Regrettable decisions were made at MIXX nightclub after Ricky, obviously due to free bottle service.

With a camera-full of photos posing beside people we swear we’ve never met and several suspect texts from the night before, we awoke. Borgata’s Immersion Spa nursed us back to health via hot stone massage and jacuzzi action.

Dinner Saturday was hosted by Wolfgang Puck restaurant at the hotel. Have you ever tasted roasted chicken so good your face spontaneously combusted and melted to the floor? Me neither, but we were close.

With a new hot body and the energy of a squealing pig at a BBQ restaurant, Kathy Griffin told twisted stories from her life without taking a breath for over an hour. Verdict: disgustingly hilarious.

To cap the night, we went for a night cap with – surprise – more bottle service. It was just enough liquor in our system to prompt $200 being shucked from our pockets and thrown onto the roulette table. (Damn you, red 32.)

Fashion Indie returned to Manhattan madness Sunday morning with a pleasant, two-hour limo ride. What. A. Weekend!

Josh Linam: Mercedes Benz is such a cool company. What do you think of Mercedes-Benz as a brand?

Karolina Kurkova: Well it’s a very classic, timeless brand. It’s innovative. They always have the safest cars. It’s luxurious but subtle without being too flashy. And I think it’s wonderful that they’re creating this event and supporting all these different fashion shows around the world where people can show their work.

Yes, actually that leads into my next question – what does it mean for Mercedes-Benz to sponsor Fashion Week, which is the epicenter for all things stylish?

I think it’s a great collaboration. Mercedes-Benz is very stylish and modern; it’s innovative, and it’s luxury. And it goes very well with fashion. It’s about trends, the newest and best things. Also, Mercedes-Benz is a lifestyle brand. It’s just not about the cars – it’s what they represent. You’ll see a lot of people who are a part of fashion week, designers, models and celebrities driving the cars.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week incorporates some of the best technology around. How do you see technology changing fashion?

I’m always amazed how technology is pushing the envelope and how it’s changing so quickly. You can see everything online right away. The things that are happening simultaneously, everyone can see it. I have a fan page on Facebook. It’s amazing how quick things happen. It’s so instant!

Are there any drawbacks about technology becoming such a part of fashion?

Sometimes there’s not that mystery or surprise or privacy. Almost everything is out there. People want everything right away. Maybe it’s not the greatest for the young generation who spends so much time online. They get so much into that world, and there’s so much more to see outside the Internet.

What are your favorite fashion Web sites or blogs to check out?

Well I just got to meet this guy, Bryan Boy. He’s so crazy, but he’s very sweet, very real and so true to his roots. He’s from the Phillipines, and he still goes back there. He’s very trendy and he’s a big fashionista, but he’s not affected by it. He’s still a true, real person, and I can feel that. I think he’s fun, and I like his style.

Last question for you. What’s your favorite thing to wear on a night out?

Well, I don’t have just one look. I’m someone who dresses by mood, by the weather and by where I am, my location. It could be from jeans to boots to a t-shirt and leather jacket to a beautiful Hervé Leger or Azzadine Alaïa dress with flats or high heels. So I’m really someone who dresses by where I am. It’s got to be comfortable, look effortless and classic, and have a personality.

Karolina’s newest, sizzling spread for Mercedes-Benz:

One obvious reason Karolina Kurkova has seen such success in modeling – she is outrageously beautiful. However, some may not know the real reason people love working with Karolina. The supermodel beams with positivity, and she is perhaps even a little bit of a jokester.

So, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Karolina turned the tables on me in our interview. Right from the start she humorously tried to throw me off with a big smile on her face. (Clearly, it worked.)

Wow, thank you; that would be amazing! So I’m from Fashion Indie, and I just had some questions for you.

So wait, you’re saying you’re new to New York. Where were you before?

I was in Texas.

In Texas? You lived and blogged about fashion in Texas?

Actually I lived in Texas, but I was writing a different project. So yeah, I just moved and I’m pretty new to New York fashion.

So this is kind of your first, big fashion week?

This is the first!

So is it a little overwhelming for you?

It’s new. Everything’s new. Overwhelming a little, as far as the shows and the partying I think.

And the tent. Isn’t it beautiful how it’s done? It’s not just going from show to show. It’s almost like a creative space where people can work and talk and see shows and connect.

It seriously is amazing how they can transform it into such a functional space. I love Lincoln Center!

We have always loved Banana Republic here at Fashion Indie and this Spring collection is helping reinforce our opine of the brand.

The Spring 2011 campaign, dubbed “Journey in Style,” is inspired by the brand’s heritage of discovery. Drawing on the themes of exploration, travel, and the classic American road trip. The campaign was shot against the stunning backdrop of the Vasquez Rocks, one of Southern California’s most famous geologic wonders and features Banana Republic product that is modern, effortless, and full of style.

Picture the space as is, yet with MacBooks stacked atop tables, interns crawling on couches, a CEO skateboarding circles, spilled coffee, gumballs, tousled papers, AND collective creative juices that take on the shape of a unicorn. This is where it all goes down.

The party was a complete success. The Absolut vodka was flowing, our 60 minute mixtape was playing (shameless plugs) and good times were had by all.

The night was a “I Wear My Sunglasses At Night” theme since Fashion Indie is endorsing blogger Jinna Yang to become Sunglass Hut’s Full Time Fabulous blogger. Jinna brought an array of designer sunglasses while we supplied a bunch of silly ones for people to play around with and take home.

Sunglasses brand Activist Eyewear was also there showing there incredibly chic and functional frames.

A 13-hour train ride carried the aspiring event planner to Fashion Indie’s home base in New York City. Jessy hadn’t eaten since Sunday eggs and bacon; she slept overnight in a stiff train seat. But the young talent showed up smiling, perky and excited for her first day.

Year Supply Of Fresh Direct: We go through our Fresh Direct orders in a matter of hours. It would be great to have the offices stocked with our favorite snacks, drinks, and supplies at all times.

Maxim MX 10985 6 Light Up Lighting Chandelier, $358.20: If you have ever been in the office after 4PM then you know things get a bit dim. The lighting situation can be a bit of a problem if you are legally blind but it works for the rest of us. A couple of these hanging around would surely brighten everything up.

Original Penguin was so amazing to allow FI pull from their Bryant Park location. The photos were shot by Indie, Nicole Vardo and all the looks were styled by me. (McArthur Joseph) The models included Manny Serrano (In cardigan and hat), Josh Linam (In suit) and myself.

Although the rumors of Marc’s guest appearance were merely rumors, the New York Post showed up to snap some photos and document our little Marc appreciation shindig. It looks to me like the coolest party in town, second to Fashion Indie’s “For The Love of Marc” shindig, of course, was clothing and record label, April 77‘s,  party at The Jane Hotel. With an appearance by the ever amazing Kate Lanphear, style director at Elle, and Fashion Indie’s own Desarae McCaffrey (that’s her, above right!)  landing a spot on Refinery 29, I’d say the bash, in all its fashionable downtown glory, was a total success! Wish I could have made it!

Just approaching their 4-year New York anniversary, Love Brigade was actually conceived in London while Alyssa completed her fashion design degree at London’s Istituto Marangoni. Jamie Rockaway, Love Brigade’s Vice President and co-founder, helped found the company, but sadly, we were unable to rendezvous. Tinypants studied digital arts and science at the University of Florida, and after his move to the Big Apple, he began designing t-shirts for Love Brigade, evolving his involvement in the company. Since their American debut, Love Brigade graduated from a Brooklyn loft to prime retail front in Williamsburg, a location that serves as both the Love Brigade and Friends store, as well as the Love Brigade studio office. 

Since it’s start, Love Brigade’s aesthetic has remained relatively consistent, with the exception of a replacement of the company’s high-end line with Ex-Oh, a recession ready diffusion line. The current Spring/Summer 2009 collection is the first of Love Brigade’s economic conscious diffusion line, providing some remarkable ready-to-wear garments. Love Brigade’s diffusion line will continue into the Fall 2009 collection (which looks pretty incredible I might add!) as the market for high-end fashion continues to digress. The Fall 2009 womenswear is inspired by the transition from a failing friendship to empowerment while the menswear collection themes the wandering man, both containing Love Brigade’s infamous collection story-line. 

Needless to say,  Love Brigade has had an exciting few years, but 2009 has perhaps been one of the best. From their customized Chuck Taylor high-tops, to their work with the Black Eyed Peas, White Tie Affair and Rob Roy, and their shop on Karmaloop,  Love Brigade’s success is honest, raw and real. Alyssa  bid us adieu with some fabulous advice for aspiring fashion designers: “Find the perfect balance between your art and business.”  Hmm, seems to be that the Brigade follows her advice, because as of July 2009, Love Brigade couldn’t look any more perfect!

Um, so, I decided to design a Michael Jackson tribute tee. Let the hate mail commence…

I noticed the other day that we were set to hit a major milestone in our company this week, our 10,000th post!!!

That’s right indies, everyday for the past two years, we’ve given you our (sometimes disagreed upon) opinions on fashion, breaking news stories and shared with you our favorite editorials, videos, and more. We’ve come a long way from the days when I was the only writer on the site, providing a once daily dose of my own views on fashion, to now where there are nearly a dozen regularly contributing writers and a growing network of Cult members, provide a wide range of ideas and opinions on the industry.

We wanted to thank all our loyal readers for making FashionIndie.com one of the fastest growing fashion destinations on the web. You guys are awesome and we couldn’t have made it this far without you. I’d also like to thank all our writers for making FashionIndie.com the greatest fashion publication on the web. You guys, but mostly girls, rock and I’m so happy that I’ve gotten the chance to be your friends through your work at Fashion Indie.

So without further ado, I’m inviting everyone who reads this site to provide comments below. Share your favorite articles, send us some fan mail (or hate mail, you know we love it either way), and let us know how we can make FashionIndie.com’s next 10,000 posts better than the last.

It’s that time of year again where Fashion Indie is looking for writers, and this time it’s for the men’s portion of the site. So with out anymore run around here’s what I’m looking for!

-You have to have noticable style (you’re working in the fashion industry so look the part)

-I’d prefer a guy mainly because they are the ones wearing the clothes and can relate to other guys, but ladies if you know your men’s fashion don’t be shy!

-You have to be able to put in decent hours

-I’d prefer you lived in NYC, but we can work something out if you don’t

So if you think you’re up for the challenge of writing for Fashion Indie hit me up with a resume/cover letter of some sort, and a picture of yourself if you have one!
