FNO will take place in all 19 of Vogue‘s international markets on five continents this year — Africa and Antarctica  are the only holdouts — with the US hosting its annual retail rail-bump on September 6. The event has grown so popular, several countries are holding FNO in multiple cities and even on multiple nights.

Milan, Rome and Florence in Italy; Berlin and Düsseldorf in Germany; Moscow and St. Petersburg in Russia.  Mexico City and Guadalajara in Mexico; São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil; and Athens and Thessaloniki in Greece.

“We are delighted to be supporting the fashion and retail sectors again while highlighting the important role fashion plays in the economy of a country,” said British Vogue EIC Alexandra Shulman, who noted that visitors, particularly on Bond St, were up 92% since 2010.

A heaping helping of shade was thrown all over the interwebs from disgruntled customers wanting to get their clutches on the one-off collection with many blaming Target’slack of preparation for the feverish rush. The line was made available at 6 a.m. on Tuesday and by 7:47 am the homepage was down. Thirteen minutes later, Target put up a courtesy page claiming the problem was being worked on.

Though Target switched from Amazon.com‘s backend to their own platform, the #fail was mostly attributed to the Missoni fever built up over the last few months. Vogue featured  the line in its August issue — with New York Times writer Stephanie Clifford astutely pointing out that that was “perhaps the first and last time that a $30 rug made it into that magazine” — and items at the Missoni for Target pop-up shop sold out in six hours during Fashion’s Night Out. Even alleged celebrities like the Jessicas Simpson and Alba were coveting the pieces.

While the collection will last through October 22nd, over 6,000 items popped up on eBay just some 11 hours after they had initially gone on sale. While all this hubbub and hullabaloo is great for Missoni, Target’s kind of getting its ass handed to them, with words like “amateurish” and “embarrassing” being bandied about. Of course, Target will recover and hopefully learn its lesson and hopefully the masses’ unprecedented demand for discount Missoni will inevitably be satiated. [NYT]

Designed by Gage/Clemenceau Architects, it’s  got enough mirrored surfaces to send Lindsay Lohan flying right back into rehab. But you have to admit, it’s eye-catching — just don’t catch too much or you might end up with a migraine. But then again, the walls have to compete with a selection of Formichetti’s pieces selected from his work with Mugler and of course, that monster mother Gaga.

The kids at Nicola’s apparently had a few technical difficulties with their registers on Fashion’s Night Out, prompting the stylist-cum-designer to (jokingly, we think) tell everyone to just take whatever they wanted. Luckily for us, everything remained in tact and there’s still plenty of Mugler — both womenswear and menswear — as well as iPhone cases, jewelry candles, t-shirts and exclusive designs by emerging international designers to go around at 50 Walker St from now until September 21st.

- Lanvin‘s Alber Elbaz continues to be the most adorable thing this side of…well, these Lanvin dolls. In a talk he gave over this weekend, Alber explained why he just says no: “I don’t take drugs because if I did I’d love them – I’d be a junkie. - The full schedule for the Royal Wedding on April 29th has been released and because of that bothersome 5-hour time difference, I hope you’re a morning person. Commoners arrive at 8 am (3 EST), VIPs at 10, the Royals at 10:40 (tradition dictates they arrive fashionably late and preferably fashionably drunk), Kate Middelton and her 5 bridesmaids arrive at 11 then the whole thing’s over by 12:15 for a wedding reception hosted by Queen Liz II. - I always forget that Abercrombie & Fitch is not a purveyor of fine Aryan, homoerotic soft-core porn but an actual clothing retailer. Therefore, it feels good to make it official: Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), and NYC and Company have announced that Fashion’s Night Out will return for a third, and certainly most spectacular, year on September 8, 2011.

While details on what to expect are still emerging, one thing is for sure: After putting together the largest public fashion show in New York City history last September, there is no telling what you can expect this year. The S.Pellegrino bottle features a label with the famous Missoni zig-zag in different color nuances and will be available in fine dining restaurants around the world. Also in celebration of the partnership, a hand-made bottle cover has been crafted by Missoni and will be on display at the Missoni boutique as part of FNO.

Fashion’s Night Out has given me one more reason to highly anticipate its imminent arrival. Or rather two, in the form of these Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington rag dolls, by Brooklyn-based artist Andrew Yang.

Barney’s commissioned the dolls, which were hand sewn and painted over the course of two weeks and they will be auctioned off starting Aug. 31 through charitybuzz.com. All proceeds benefit The New York City Aids Fund.

Bravo.

Meanwhile, where’s the Andre Leon Talley doll? Yang says that Anna’s and Grace’s looks were both his “own take on their signature look.” I guess it would’ve taken too long and too much material to throw together a Chado Ralph Rucci mini-great coat and cerulean Gucci loafers.

But I still would have appreciated an attempt.

Elizabeth & James announced on their Facebook Page that they will be setting up a pop-up shop in the West Village for the duration of New York Fashion Week. Along with the pop-up shop is a partnership with Sugar Inc. for a Fashion's Night Out event that E&J is keeping mum for now. The label did however reveal that Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen will be making an appearance during Fashion's Night Out.

The show, produced by Vogue in conjunction with SPEC Entertainment, will highlight key trends of the Fall 2010 season (as identified by the magazine), will feature merchandise intended for fall delivery, and inspire shoppers as they prepare their wish lists for the main Fashion’s Night Out event on Friday, September 10th. Nearly 1,500 guests are expected to be in attendance and tickets will be available through the Lincoln Center box office later this summer, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting The New York City AIDS Fund.

The FNO collection includes pima cotton short and long sleeve t-shirts, tanks, and unisex hoodies emblazoned with the FNO logo and an abstract cityscape print. Forty percent of the proceeds raised from the sales of these style-savvy shirts will go to the NYC AIDS fund.

I hope you enjoyed the free booze and food, as well as the celebrity appearances, crowded street, long lines and discounts, because Anna Wintour and Mayor Bloomberg recently confirmed that another Fashion’s Night Out is in our midst. Call me crazy, but I saw little to no people walking around with shopping bags, so how on earth was this event successful for New York City or the fashion industry? But hey, nobody is complaining about another round of free drinks!

Fashion’s Night Out was no match for the usual Thursday night routine that has been picking up steam week after week. Thursdays at the Soho Grand Hotel hosted by Niko Liakaris, Jon Daly, Gabi Richmond, and yours truly Fashion Indie welcomed an even bigger crowd than normal this week! However, this week was a cause to celebrate, as it was the after party for the opening of a brand new boutique Against Nature. Keep your eye out for this week’s flyer in the next couple days, it will definitely be a great way to end your Fashion Week.

Thanks Style!

I’m always surprised at how busy and nutty-acting everyone gets during Fashion Week prep. Everyone is in a huff. I’ve seen a lot of models in Soho, they’re almost all in huffs. Except for the “It” models, you know like Ash and Jethro. I bet they’re never in anything like a huff, they’re only in magazines. Is Cole Mohr still “It”?

Anyway, I got invited to the model casting for Duckie Brown. It made me feel a little special, but whenever I told anyone they sort of laughed. Everyone thought I was trying out to be a model, I wasn’t. Duckie wanted me there to cast models, and pretend to DJ. I really like pretending.

It was self-defeating though. The casting, I mean.  I was the short, pasty, black-clad kid with grandma glasses and bad hair. Everyone around me was 6 foot tall, healthy, fit, and beautiful. It was awful, and amazing. Amazing because they were changing and naked and trying on great clothes.

Two boys I party with came on a go-see. Is that an official term? Go-see? Or did Tyra make that up for America’s Next Top Model? But, right, Jace and Harvey came on a go-see. It was nice seeing them out and about during the day. And I think both of them were cast, because they have amazing walks and are so handsome.

Oh. Did anyone see that Craiglist missed connection from Tuesday? A friend posted it to my Facebook. I think someone I know, a boy, gave a man a blowjob at the Box while his girlfriend watched. It all happened on the balcony, I mean, I must have been a few feet away. Was it you? Tell me the truth. I need the scoop.

I think it’s a good nightlife when things like this can still happen. It reminds me of Studio 54.

It’s so sad that the Ruff Club is ending. I don’t know what else to say. It’s the end of an era, or something. There’s a rumor that Peaches Geldof and Jethro Cave will be there. That they’re going to DJ. I love Nick Cave, and his son Jethro is amazing. I didn’t know that Peaches is still around. Can I have her job? What is her job?

I forgot to mention I met Christopher Sauve and Julia Frakes yesterday while creeping Soho with Alex. Chris was the nicest, like so pleasant. Julia was a button, but I kind of think I squeezed her hand too hard. Alex thought her pants were a great Beacon’s find, but of course they were Erin Wasson. Nicollette said Julia was a downtown luminary.

I guess she must be if she’s curating a collection at Screaming Mimi’s for Fashion’s Night Out. I’m jealous, wish I was curating a collection.

Did you know that even the Disney Channel changes its New York programming before and during Fashion Week? I told you, nutty-acting. Everyone.

No worries people, because TOMS and Trovata are teaming up for an amazing Fashion’s Night Out event. The two iconic brands are teaming up to bring families a night to enjoy fashion. The event will host stations for families (or friends that might as well be families) the chance to get their pictures taken in back drops from different eras. The family who takes the best photo wins $1,000 shopping spree from Trovata and TOMS, and you will even be able to shop the newest styles from TOMS that will be released at the event.

So if you are on the West Coast be sure to head over to the TOMS headquarters at 3025 Olympic Blvd. Santa Monica, Ca.

There will be specialty cocktails, pizza, disco DJ’s and carnival games as well as a limited edition Vena Cava dress which is being made from the designing duo’s archival fabrics. The dress will run you $100, the memories will last a lifetime.

Block-party revelers will also be entered into a raffle to win a studio tour and free dress from the designers.

Definitely a carnival I don’t want to miss.
