Last night I got to enter the magical world that is Barbie’s Dream Closet. There was an astounding amount of pointed pink pumps and Barbie-worthy models a flight up in their dream houses. We got to play in Barbie’s virtual Dream Closet and dress ourselves by tapping the air to the right and left on the my-size screened Kinect. I took to roving the room in search of the best dressed and the most famous, and asked them what constitues their dream closet.

Canuck catwalker Eva Shaw (Ford) was, as she puts it, “ambushed” by strange man when she was thirteen. But before you start worrying about the direction of this story, it ends pretty well. Despite dismissing him as a “freak,” Eva told her mom about the man (like all good girls should) who turned out to be an agent from Elite Models. Okay, sometimes it pays to talk to strangers — though we’re not necessarily advocating it. Today, when she’s not shooting editorials from Paris to Morocco, Eva is spinning electro beats and moving electro feets as DJ Bambi. We caught up with Eva to discuss music and modeling and the origins of Bambi.

How did you come up with your DJ name?
Actually, I used to DJ with my boyfriend as a duo, and when I came to New York I was trying to think of a name for myself. I didn’t want to use my regular model name, so my friend said, “You should be DJ Bambi because you look like Bambi — all bewildered and skinny.”

What kind of music do you spin?
Electro house, progressive house…

What are you listening to right now?
You probably won’t even know them. I really like crazy electro stuff. I like a lot of Mark Knight. He always has really awesome productions. Funkagenda’s pretty great, Adam K. from Toronto, I love his productions. I like David Guetta [he] came out with two albums. One of them is really commercial, but his other album is more for DJs. It’s sort of harder electronic music. I really like Bassjackers right now. Alesso, Nicky Romero, Tim Berg and Zedd are new artists around my age Ireally respect. There’s so many, I could go on for days!

What are your top 5 songs right now?

- The official Royal Wedding photos are out and are adorable. Shot by Hugo Burnand, the royal family and the Middletons gathered in the the throne room of Buckingham Palace for a family portrait, Windsor style. Meanwhile, the design community has weighed in on Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge‘s Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding dress and the overall opinion is “You go, girl.” [Fashionologie]

- But what does this mean for Burton and the McQueen brand? A series of industry insiders, retail experts and just plain know-it-alls agree that landing the royal wedding dress was a large coup for the Alexander McQueen label, particularly with the Met Costume Institute Gala and Savage Beauty exhibit opening this week. McQueen will become a household name — though it was already that in my household — and will now have a “guaranteed legacy” while “taming” the house’s trademark “edginess.” Sales are expected to go through the roof due to a new, heretofore unseen level of awareness for the McQueen brand and as for Burton; rumors are reaching a fever pitch over her possibly serving as a replacement for John Galliano at Dior. But with the spectacular success of the new Duchess’s wedding gown, PPR (McQueen’s parent company) would likely do everything in its power to keep her on…at least if they were smart they would. After Next Model Management sued Ford Models for allegedly poaching a trio of models — Karmen Pedaru, Anna Aleksandra Cywinska, and Anna J. — DNA has gotten litigious over Maryna Linchuk, whom they claim Ford “solicited and induced” to break contract. Crystal Renn is leading the charge for plus-sized models. Renn, a size 8, posed for five major ad campaigns and seven French Vogue spreads last year alone.

2. Whitney Thompson

You may remember Whitney from America’s Next Top Model season 10 – she won the entire competition. Whitney went on to pose for Forever 21, Saks Fifth Avenue, People Magazine, Seventeen Magazine and a host of other fashion ads and editorials.

3. Marquita Pring

Marquita is a Ford girl who wears size 41-35-46. She’s been featured in Vogue, Vice, Tush, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle.

4. Kate Dillon

Models Suing Next for $3.75 Million

Karmen Pedaru (pictured), Anna Jagodzinska and Ania Cywinska are suing their former agency, Next, for stiffing them out of $750,000 in earnings, in addition to $1 million each in punitive damages.

The three catwalkers left Next Model Management earlier this year in April. After switching agencies (all three migrated to Ford), they allege that Next refused to pay them their outstanding earnings. Pedaru claims withheld compensation in excess of $400, 000 and Jagodzinska seeks $320,000. Cywinska is slacking on her model game as she says she’s only owed $30,000.

If I were Next, I would pony up because those Eastern Europeans have no problem busting some knee caps to get their dough. They may look sickly thin, but before they were models who do you think was pulling the tractors and schlepping the yak intestines from town to town?

SCANDALOUS: You Look Like a Better Version of Kim Kardashian. Tips on How To Pose for Fashion Week.

You know we all do it, creeping through our day after photos of the stumbling nights before, and thinking WTF am I doing, or sometimes you just aren’t photogenic enough… probably why there isn’t enough room to be a Ford model in this World. Concluding this previous experience in which I went through many times, I did my research on how to pose better for a full length body shot, and what better time to use these tips than during fashion week. When you look at Paris Hilton, Victoria Beckham, or Miss Kim K. there are certain points that are always hit. For one chin is always down and head is always slightly turned, just make sure to know which side is your good side, there’s always one angle less fucked up than the other. Second always angle your body and place your hand on the back side of one hip pushing a bit forward, this will give you the whole “slim” look plus pushing back your shoulders and sucking in the gut. Lastly you know that whole “say cheese” thing we do… things just got better in not adding on to feeling of awkwardness of already standing in public waiting for a flash. So instead say “money” it gives your smile a less asian persuasion look.

It was a mens’ show so they had her like a “ring girl” carrying a sign down the runway. We met in the middle on the runway and she said “Here, you take this, I’m sick of holding it.” I was like “I don’t think I’m supposed to have this sign” but you know, Naomi told me to, so I took the sign. I was like “Really? You have to walk down one time and you can’t hold this sign?” At least she didn’t throw it at me, right?”

WTF??: Amber Rose

My ambivalence toward Amber Rose, whose overnight celebrity is as capricious as her taste in clothing, was beginning to wane until I came across this recent pic of her leaving Villa Lounge in West Hollywood last weekend. I say, “do you”, but I can’t help but wonder why anyone would purposely be out and about looking like an Oompa Loompa with titties. Aside from abusing a bottle self-tanner, the girl goes out of her way to match her unoriginal hair with those omnipresent leggings, played-out watch, pack of Newports AND sunglasses that, for some reason, she decides to wear at night (I still don’t get it). You can take the girl out of Philly but you can’t take tacky out of the girl. Ford Models would not approve.

Like any sane person, I deleted my Myspace account once I realized that I wasted at least four hours each day changing my layout design, took pathetic photos specifically for new Myspace defaults and stalked my ex-boyfriend to see who he was macking on that week. Now granted, I’ve been Myspace sober for over three years (thanks to Facebook. damnit) but Kendra Spears, the new face all over the runways, owes her whole aspiring career to Myspace.

Say sayonara to the typical college co-ed and hello to the winner of Ford Models’ Myspace.com contest! So she didn’t win the $100,000 contract with Ford Models, but who can complain walking for Gucci, Hermès, and Valentino in Paris and Milan? Recently the 20 year old Portland State University student has been working on shoots for Dazed and Confused, Italian Marie Claire and an upcoming BCBG ad campaign.

Anyone else wondering why Kendra Spears didn’t wind up in New York Fashion Week last month? Well, according to bookers, they aren’t too keen on Spears’ Cindy Crawford lip mole. Well too bad for us here in the States, it looks like European bookers know a pretty face, mole or no mole, when they see one!

R.I.P: Randy Johnston

October 11th was a tragic day for Ford Models and the family and friends of Randy Johnston. The 20 year old model passed away on Saturday of unknown causes. The half German, half English model was discovered by Ford Models through a mailed in photograph. Johnston was the featured model of the 2007 Dior Homme campaign and will appear in November’s i-D Magazine with Lara Stone. Ford Models had this to say about their recent loss:

“Randy Johnston, a beautiful, sweet, and loving young man. There are no words to express how much he will be missed.”

Legendary Model Dies at 91

Despite Janice Dickinson’s rants, there were plenty of supermodels before her time. Dorian Leigh was a 1950′s ford model and revolutionized Revlon cosmetics. In fact, she was one of the first models to be signed to Eileen Ford’s prestigious agency. Soon after retiring from modeling, she started her own successful agency in France. Leigh was the quintessential chic model and booked major campaigns like Revlon and appeared regularly in Harper’s Bazaar. Her employers adored her. Eileen Ford called Leigh “truly the best model of our time, She instinctively knew what every photographer wanted, and she came alive just at the moment the shutter clicked” Dorian Leigh died earlier this month and will truly be missed.

V Man Announces Winner

Hedi Slimane has gotten his shots in and V Man is finally ready to announce the winner of their Ford Models cover. And the winner is (drumroll please) ….. Petey.

Actually from this shoot I don’t know who the fuck Petey is. All the men look the same with the exception of the blondie, whose name is Adam, but between the other two it’s anyones guess who Petey is.

Personally, I think the Bowie double should have one cause the other two look more like high school students than models. But I guess that’s the new look for men, juvenile.

Watch for Petey on an upcoming cover of VMan and to hit the runways this season as Ford pushes his skinny ass out to the masses.
