G-Star Launches Midnight Collection, a Unique Adventure in Evening Wear
Edited by Amanda Gabriele
Staying true to their signature “unexpected combinations” philosophy, the creative minds at G-Star have launched an evening wear line with an edgy twist. Titled Midnight Collection, a sophisticated black palette is complemented by rich blues for Winter 2011, a hint at the brand’s denim DNA. Traditional pieces, like a chic black blazer, are done up with interesting tailoring for a fresh evening look that is as cool as it is elegant. Perfect for the girl who doesn’t want to sacrifice her downtown style for a formal occasion, you are going to love this collection.

With only three days left of runway madness, the tents at Bryant Park sure have some catching up to do. Call me an awe-struck runway rookie, but last night’s G-Star Raw Fall 2009 runway show gave every other show this week a run for its money. Three parallel runways, dimmed track lighting and eerie classical music set the mood for G-Star’s industrial funeral themed show. As if the ambiance wasn’t enough, believe me when I say I’d wear absolutely anything that came strolling down the runway. Drop-crotch denim, Victorian tuxedo jackets, dramatic, high collared pea-coats, raw denim baby-doll dresses, nylon trenches and leather pants were just some of the items that had my jaw at the floor. Oh, and did I mention the buckles, zippers, snaps and leather accessories galore? I must admit, I was a bit apprehensive about light-wash denim for the fall, but G-Star had undoubtedly set the trend. Benicio Del Toro’s reading of Joy Division’s “Candidate” at the show’s close sealed the deal on the ultimate runway experience. I’m ready for Spring 2010!
