Where Oh Where Has My Little Kate Gone?

Edited by

Where Oh Where Has My Little Kate Gone? For those of you out and about during New York Fashion Week, you probably noticed something missing from the front row: Kate Lanphear, Fashion Editor at Elle Magazine . As my favorite fashion person, I tend to keep my eyes peeled for Lanphear, especially during Fashion Week. But this season, Lanphear was MIA from the shows she typically shows up at. Rebecca attended about 25 shows and only spotted Lanphear at BCBG and William Rast. Last season, Lanphear was the front row favorite at shows like Rad Hourani and G-Star (although she didn’t actually sit front row last season) but she was missing from both this season!

Perhaps we weren’t as intuitive this season, but did anyone else see Lanphear at any other shows? I’m worried.

RUNWAY: G-Star Fall 2010 Womenswear and Menswear

RUNWAY: G Star Fall 2010 Womenswear and Menswear RUNWAY: G Star Fall 2010 Womenswear and Menswear

I could go on for hours, but for the sake of my precious time, I’m going to make this brief. G-Star’s Fall 2010 collection was awful. Ask anyone during Fashion Week how excited they are for the G-Star show and they’ll definitely agree it’s one of the most entertaining productions and well styled shows, even if they’re not crazy about denim and dark utility wear. But despite last night’s packed house, I didn’t see one face at all impressed with this season’s garb. In fact, Carine Roitfeld, Editor-In-Chief of Vogue Paris, was so disgusted that picking her nails seemed a more appropriate use of her time. Even Agyness Deyn couldn’t bare to look as she texted the majority of the show.

So what was so bad about this season’s collection? Well, let’s start with the colors. Rubber-duck yellow, Kermit the Frog green and Gonzo blue. And how about the designs? Toggle ponchos, denim diaper shorts, rain boots and slickers comprised the majority of the collection. Mix the horrendous color choice with the miserable designs and a few cheesy, choreographed poses and it’s plain to see why I had to make a strong drink upon my return home from the show.
