Nicola Formichetti brought in reinforcement from his bestie Lady Gaga for his sophmore Mugler show at Paris Fashion Week. Gaga has been on a short film fiasco lately, ever since she teamed up with fashion photographers Inez and Vinoodh, who created her “You And I” music video. In a smoky room at the Mugler Spring 2012 show in Paris, entered the Mother Monster’s close-up on a large screen with gapped teeth and the infamous floor-sweeping ponytails from her Mugler runway debut.

It was the meeting of pop royalty when Lady Gaga took in Britney Spears‘ Femme Fatale show in New Jersey’s Hotlantic City this weekend. The crowd went bananas when Spears opened the show announcing, “I have a very special guest tonight…Lady Gaga is here!” Gaga stood, waved, and threw out a heart symbol. Britney promptly hearted her back, birthing the next “high five” amongst tween girls and gays across the country. Mother Monster was later spotted double fisting drinks and hitting up the blackjack tables at the Borgata Resort, letting fans know that she too has the vice-succumbing potential of her popstar counterpart.

As we enter this month of Art and Architecture at FashionIndie, we must discuss further a young designer who has elevated the notion of couture. Iris van Herpen creates a synergy between the finest handiwork and the technologically advanced. For this collection shown in Paris as part of Haute Couture fashion week, Capriole, she worked with architect Isaie Bloch and MGX to create 3D prints which were then translated into textiles. What resulted is function that follows the most stunning form from which all else stems.
She also happened to intern with Alexander McQueen. Behold.

In a show that had Lady Gaga’s paw print cemented to the aesthetic, Nicola Formichetti insurrected Mugler with a visual feast. Gaga’s gave us a taste of her new single Government Hooker as she made her modeling debut, working her monstrous platforms better than many professional models worked their curvaceous heels. On the live stream (or the luckiest, in Paris) we watched the show in its entirety, with Gaga’s new song interspersed with a hopped up version of Born This Way. Now we can watch it in the concise manner the Creative Director envisioned it. Gagalicious video ahead.
