Keep your $10,000 Crocodile Bag, I Don’t Need It!

Edited by

Keep your $10,000 Crocodile Bag, I Dont Need It! Walk into any high-end store and you are bound to feel like the elephant in the room. I never knew browsing was a crime, but I never even consider going into these stores unless I look tip-top and have intent to buy. Even with economy driving designers into the ground, forcing even Prada to plaster sale signs in their windows, Versace refuses to “stoop” to that level. CEO of Versace, Giancarlo Di Risio, a strong believer that the label is only for the elite clientele, refuses the idea of a sale because it will attract “regular” people. Di Risio stated:

“We want to offer a real luxury and not to open our doors to the consumption of young girls who can put the designer handbag of their dreams on their arm with less than 300 Euros. We are not interested in that.”

Sorry Versace, money is money any way you look at it. She might not be in your target market, but if the teenage girl is willing to buy, you should be willing to sell to her. Don’t look for a shoulder to cry on when you start shutting down stores and Donatella can’t afford her next plastic surgery.
