MALE MODEL HUMPDAY: Fashion for Men #1

Edited by

Jack of all fashionable trades and modern-day Renaissance man Milan Vukmirovic describes his new bi-annual magazine, Fashion for Men, as “very elegant, simple, modern and,” above all, “masculine.” Truly, its 620 pages are dripping in testosterone with collaborations from guest of honor Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci (hence the snarling rottweiler on the cover) and streetstyle auteur Tommy Ton and the manliest of them all, Anna Dello Russo –  the only (alleged) woman in the mag . This Male Model Humpday, we take a look inside the mega-tome’s premier issue with three strapping spreads starring Chris Moore, Eric Puzio, Ian Mellencamp and one of our fave gents, Travis Cannata

Nicki Minaj in Talks to Cover Vogue

Edited by

The New York Times chronicles the rise of Nicki Minaj as a style icon; from “making dresses in her basement” to donning Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci to the 2011 Grammy Awards to being a guest of Vogue editrix Anna Wintour at Carolina Herrera‘s spring 2012 fashion show. Minaj, however, has yet to attain the true testament to style-iconery — the coveted cover of Wintour’s precious publication. But according to the raptress’ manager, she’s “in talks with the magazine.”

Indie Wish List: What Lester Wants for Christmas

Edited by

I’ve never cared much for Christmas — aside from a really long vacation from school or work, I never really got the fuss. In fact, I’d more than happy to ignore this holiday and just get wasted, eat Chinese food and catch the premiere of The Iron Lady. However, in the spirit of the season, I came across a few items that struck my fancy and would make even my Grinch’s heart grow marginally larger.

Gisele: The Key to a Successful Spring 2012 Campaign

Edited by

Gisele is more or less 112 years old, but that doesn’t mean she’s planning on slowing down anytime soon. The bodacious Brazilian has landed at least three major spring 2012 campaigns — the Mert and Marcus-lensed Versace and Givenchy ads and the latest for Salvatore Ferragamo –  ensuring that the Gisele Stock Index will continue to return significant gains.

THE DAILY GASP: Ciara for Vogue Paris

Edited by

I’ve always loved rooting for an underdog and since her debut in 2004, Ciara‘s been steadily churning out booty-shaking hits while never quite attaining the level of success of say, a Rihanna, a Beyoncé or even an Ashanti. Luckily, Givenchy‘s brooding creative director Riccardo Tisci is similarly obsessed with Cici and, known for his love of dogs, has annointed her one of his muses. Fashion has fully-embraced the songstress with a stunner of an editorial in Vogue Italia now Ciara returns with this shot from Vogue Paris

INDIE REWIND: The 10 Greatest Fashion Films

Edited by

The drama of the business, the transcendent beauty of the clothes, and the backstabbing bitchery of the fashion world have always been popular subjects in film.  Whether it’s a satanic editor with a taste for Italian couture, a young fashionista dining with diamonds, or a group of disenfranchised queens hoping to set the City of Lights ablaze, these 10 movies are the greatest odes to fashion.

Lea T. in Print and on Film for Elle Brasil

Edited by

The world’s first openly transsexual supermodel — I have my doubts about most Brazilian catwalkers — Lea T. covers the December issue of Elle Brasil covered in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci and shot by Fábio Bartelt while the duo of Manuel Nogueira and Luisa Bernardes capture Lea in various stages of hair-whipping and body-writhing for a short fash-film. Check out photos and video after the jump!

For its ambitious, year-long, two-part exhibit  “The Great Designers, Parts One and Two,  the Museum at FIT went about acquiring some never-before-seen items to add to its already extensive permanent collection of 50,000 garments and accessories. 50 pieces, organized alphabetically by designer, will be displayed per exhibit;  from iconic brands like Christian Dior, Chanel, and Givenchy to young, avant-garde designers like Boudicca and Gareth Pugh.
