ADDICT: Adriana Lima for Givenchy F/W 2009

First she walked down the runway for Givenchy F/W 09, and now Adriana Lima stars in the F/W 09 campaign.
At first, it was like playing Where’s Waldo (only where’s Adriana), but no worries, we found her…
TRENDSPARK: Denim Tops
This spring, denim is the new black. We’ve seen destroyed denim cut-off shorts and boyfriend jeans make it big, but possibly the trendiest look for the season is denim on top. Ever since I saw Corey rock out his denim vest last summer, I’ve been pretty optimistic about this look, but denim vests are just the beginning. The spring season forecasts denim blazers, tank-tops, tuxedo button ups and tee-shirt dresses. While light-wash and destroyed pieces are all the go for the fall, I wouldn’t be too surprised if sleek, dark-washes continue into the chillier months.
If you’re a bit apprehensive that this look might make you look like an 80’s rocker or worse, red-neck trailer trash, take a look at some of styling ideas from the Spring 2009 runways. Givenchy, Louis Vuitton and even Banana Republic know what’s up!

MOMENT OF STYLE: Katie Holmes

It feels like forever since we’ve seen Katie attend anything, especially since daily photos of her consist of her signature boyfriend jeans with some sort of tee, it’s nice to finally see her dress up.
Kate came out to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Independent Filmmaker Project in New York, wearing Alexander McQueen and Givenchy gladiators. Not my fave outfit, just because the pants are wrinkled in the wrong places, but she looks great in black and the simplicity of the look showcases her natural beauty.
SPREAD UM: Emily Blunt for Vanity Fair, May 2009

In her spread in the May 2009 issue of Vanity Fair, Emily Blunt looks all but poised to steal all the period piece roles away from Keira Knightley.
In the ornate Michael Roberts-shot editorial, Emily models some incredible couture looks from the Paris collections, including Dior, Givenchy, and Valentino.

Adriana Lima Gets Some Upscale Attention

Seems like Adriana Lima is gonna be doing fewer topless, T&A shoots. (My heart sheds a little tear)
Turns out the model is scoring some major gigs with Givenchy. Riccardo Tisci must have liked what he saw on their runway, when the model hit the floor this past season, cause she’s just been booked for the collections campaign. Hopefully, she won’t be ditching her Secret ways anytime soon.

The Low-Down on Loehmann’s
Lord only knows how many times I passed by this store without the “hmm, maybe I should check this out” thought running through my head. After several designer budget-saver recommendations and a bit of fashion evidence from some friends, I decided to set my ego aside and pay a little visit to the Loehmann’s Chelsea location.
The first several visits left me unimpressed. The store was unorganized and crowded, wasting over 45 minutes of my life I was sure I’d never get back. Taking the wise advice of my mother, I gave the store a second chance, stopping in early on a Thursday (aka inventory day) just before February’s fashion week. Heading upstairs to “The Back Room,” the discounted designer label department, I was floored by how many great pieces there were by the fashion industry’s cream of the crop. $300 later, I walked out of Loehmann’s with over $2500 worth of Robert Rodriguez, Vince, Mint and Helmut Lang clothes and accessories. Happy girl? You bet.
After probably a two month hiatus from the discount haven, I stopped by Loehmann’s this morning, Although I only purchased some jewelry (I got a Burberry-esque spike bracelet and a match necklace for $40. Beat that.) I was amazed to see dozens upon dozens of pieces from the Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2008 collection. The clothes might be two seasons old, but where else are you going to find a Marc Jacobs Americana romper marked down to just $70!? Other great buys included gorgeous Givenchy boot-heels, Comme des Garcons drop-crotch sweats (too bad they were a size 14…), a plethora of springy Philosophy dresses and tons of chunky Miu Miu, Carmen Marc Valvo and Badgely Misckha sunglasses.
All in all, if you haven’t yet been to Loehmann’s, now is the time to check it out. But be forewarned, be there early on weekdays or be prepared to dig.
RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Givenchy Fall 2009

The fall 2009 Givenchy RTW collection didn’t blow me out of the water, but some of the pieces were super cool. Lace, chiffon and feathers backed with strong and structured silhouettes flew lightly down the runway. This dress is one of my favorites; I adore the purple shoulder pads peeking out from underneath the ultra girly lace dress. But when you click through the garments, you’ll see from piece to piece that they are all different styles and silhouettes. “Actually, I wanted to show lots of different shapes for all kinds of women,” designer Riccardo Tisci said. And that he did.

Kanye And GF Sit Front Row at Paris Fashion Week

Kanye West and his girlfriend Amber Rose were front row at many shows during Paris Fashion Week, including Hussein Chalayan, Sonia Rykiel, and Givenchy.
Amber Rose wore one of my fave dresses from the Alexander Wang Spring 09 show, which she accessorized with Louis Vuitton heals and bag (also straight off the Spring 09 runway).
‘The risky dress is completely sheer, with a few strategically placed black embossed swirl coils. Another feature is that the mini dress has cut-out thumbs at the sleeves.’
According to Red Carpet Fashion only 2 other girls wore this dress, Erin Wasson, and Sarah Harding and it’s available at Barney’s for $995.

SHOP: Luisaviaroma x Givenchy Limited Edition Tee
Seen this style of shirt before but I totally love it done like this, in a chain- print oversized tee version by Givenchy exclusively for Luisaviaroma. It’s way more then you’d ever want to pay (351 euro), but you can’t fight the bling.

Vintage Shopping Goes Digital With Vagabond NYC
Just when I thought vintage clothing couldn’t get any cooler, I stumble upon Vagabond NYC, the online vintage designer shop, vintage-wear editorial spread and vintage clothing blog. Created by Andrea Perini and Naveed Hussain, Vagabond NYC is geared towards the fashion consumer in search of vintage styling and the couture ghost of fashion’s past. Shoppers can directly purchase complete outfits, as seen in the digital editorials, or browse through an array of vintage (or vintage lookalike) collectables. From vintage Givenchy and Helmut Lang to old school Stephen Sprouse and Thierry Mugler, Vagabond NYC really has everything an indebted label lover could ask for. And the editorial styling? To die for.
Check out Vagabond NYC here. Trust me, you won’t be sorry!
Thanks for the heads up, Kingdom of Style!
Did a Gay Porn Star Inspire Givenchy?

Givenchy Menswear designer Ricardo Tisci may have just all let us into his stash. The designer’s recent walk down the runway faired a great shade of resemblence to gay porn star’s Francois Sagat’s signature skull tattoo.

We all knew fashion was a bit of a gay land, but who would have ever thought it was this out of the porn drawer.

SPREAD UM: Givenchy, Balmain & Dolce & Gabbana in Vogue Nippon
I love me some wickedly pointy shoulders. So very Cruella Deville. These were shot by Katja Rahlwes for Vogue Nippon.

RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Givenchy Fall 2009 Collection

Oh no! A fashion week wouldn’t be complete without at least one designer falling flat on their face, and this year I regret to inform Givenchy that it was you. The collection was completely monotone black, but there was no texture of fabric differentiation in his looks. They were all flat black tones and all around boring cuts. The leather scrunched pants are more fit for Gareth Pugh’s collection than this, and to top it off the show is ended with a model in an all tan suit? I just don’t get it!

WTF?!? Givenchy Pepto Bondage Oxfords

Givenchy’s newest collection of shoes are bondage oxfords in colors that make me think about long scenic strolls along the Gay Pride Parade. Seriously, find me someone willing to wear these and I’ll show you where he likes to hide his gerbel.
ADDICT: Givenchy S/S 09

Just like that girls, just do those squat thrust, 1 and 2 and 1 and 2. Shake what Madonna gave ya. Extend, YEAH!!! COME ON GIRLS!!! YOU”VE GOT FOUR WEEKS TILL FASHION WEEK and YOU’RE ALL LOOKING LIKE A TOTAL GEMMAS!!!
Looking Robotic Is Not So Hypnotic

I didn’t get the memo that dressing like robots was the new thing. Regardless, I’m not sure I’d want to jump on board. Jennifer Connelly is looking more awkward than usual in this Givenchy number. The dress doesn’t hug any parts of her body but rather hangs loosely as if draped on cold, hard steel. The cutouts hit all the wrong places, which gives the impression she is playing dress-up in mommy’s ill-fitting clothes.
Thanks Fabulousness!
Sneak Peek: Barbie Picture Book
New York magazine has a sneak peek at Barbie, Assouline’s $500 128-page book. Yona Zeldis McDonough follows the icon through 50 years of designer outfits and career changes. Everyone from Givenchy and Versace to Vera Wang and Zac Posen has put their mark on Barbie.
Off the Chain!

Talk about a subtle punk-rocker, this has to be the coolest coat I’ve seen all season! Basically, LaRok recreated the sought after Givenchy chain adorned coat, but as a more affordable version! With the removable chains, this coat doubles as a sleek blazer, appropriate for any occasion. Wear this coat with leather leggings, knee-high boots, a black v-neck sweater and some smoky makeup and people on the street will swear you walked right off the runway! Love it!
Check out this killer coat at Pronto.com!
