On magazines: “It shocks me when young kids still say, ‘I want to do a magazine.’ Really? On being seated front row at a D&G show along with Garance Doré, Tommy Ton and Bryanboy in 2009, where they were all given laptops on podiums: “They got a humongous amount of press. ‘Look, we brought the bloggers in and gave them the front row. Look at the dancing-monkey bloggers!’ I could barely bring myself to sit down…Like, ‘Ugh, I don’t want everyone looking at us.’ Like, ‘Oh, look at the cute bloggers! Isn’t that cute! Are they playing Angry Birds?’ When you’ve got Ron Frasch [president and chief merchandising officer of Saks Incorporated] behind you going, ‘I spent two fucking million dollars on D&G’s last collection, and I’m sitting here? For these little schmucks?’”

On being introduced to Ron Frasch as a stay-at-home dad : “He’s looking right over my head and I remember thinking, I’m gonna make this fucking blog so he looks at me when I’m talking to him.”

While being interviewed, Frasch and Schuman cross paths and Schuman, it seems, has gotten his wish:

“Hey, Ron.”

“Hey, Scott,” says Ron, politely but without slowing down.

“Happy New Year, buddy,” Schuman says.

His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales will kick off the sartorial weekend on June 14 with a reception at St. James’s Palace followed by the opening reception hosted by Topman that night. The following evening Ford will hold a dinner while Esquire and Mr. Porter have an event of their own.

On Saturday night, the 16th, Louis Vuitton and Spencer Hart will both host cocktail parties and everything will be wrapped up nicely on the 17th with a  Burberry event hosted by Christopher Bailey and a GQ dinner hosted by Calvin Klein.

As for the actual fashion, Hilfiger, Pringle of Scotland, Thom Browne, Belstaff, Jonathan Saunders, Christopher Kane, Joseph Abboud and Richard Nicoll among others will all hold presentations.

Winner: Sarah Jessica Parker Her January Elle, August Vogue, and September Marie Claire covers are the 2nd or 3rd bestsellers of each mag this year.

Loser: Justin Bieber His Vanity Fair cover is the lowest selling issue since Graydon Carter took over in 1992. Rolling Stone, Teen Vogue and People similarly bombed.

Winner: Lady Gaga Mother Monster's Vogue cover was Anna Wintour's second best-selling issue, while her March Harper's Bazaar is Glenda Bailey's third top performer.

Loser: Lady Gaga However, no one wants to see a pared-down, bare-faced Gaga and the October issue of Bazaar is its third worst performer.

Winner: Mila Kunis A breakout year for the actress delivered GQ's biggest-selling issue from August and a 15% increase for a struggling W with her March cover. A turn on Cosmopolitan and a shared cover with Justin Timberlake on Elle in August also proved to be hits.

Loser: Justin Timberlake JT's cover with Mila might have been a hit for Elle, but his W cover with Amanda Seyfried was the mag's 2nd worst seller, while his solo cover for Esquire in October was its worst seller of the year.

Winner: Jennifer Aniston Alleged sexiest woman of all time, Aniston was also Marie Claire's top seller of the year and her November Elle is on track to be one of its biggest hits.

Loser: Michelle Williams The My Week with Marilyn star's Vogue cover and her Marie Claire cover were each mag's second and third worst-performing covers, respectively.

Winner: Kim Kardashian Kim delivered Glamour's bestseller of the year with her February cover, but a lot happened between then and now...

Loser: The Kardashians While Kim's Harper's Bazaar, Self and Lucky covers were mild hits, the January 2012 issue of Glamour featuring sisters Khloe and Kourtney is on track to bomb Bieber-style.

This comes at an interesting time for both parties, considering that Abercrombie and The Situation are in a bit of financial crunch these days. By missing Wall Street’s third-quarter earnings projections, the A&F stock recently dropped 13.6 percent. Meanwhile, the Situation’s stock is also in the red, as revealed earlier this month by his co-star and noted Oompa-Loompa, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi in an interview with GQ.

Quote the guidette:

“Jersey Shore is going to end soon. I’m not going to spend money like Mike. He’s already broke!”

So could this latest, and belated, ploy be a last-ditch Sitch effort to cash in on his already dwindling notoriety? And even if he somehow gets away with it, will Abercrombie have the money to pay up if their stocks keep going the way of its male model’s jeans? I don’t know who keeps trying to make Kristen Stewart happen, but whoever they are, they are relentless. Danny Clinch shot The Roots at Republic Airport in New York right as they were getting off the plane — an homage to how rock stars traveled in the 70s. Creative director Stephen Niedzwiecki explains:

“The way The Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and The Beatles traveled had a huge impact on the direction for this season’s campaign…Led Zeppelin’s plane had fireplaces built in. So that’s what inspired us to shoot them in that way.”

And that’s why Led Zeppelin is fucking awesome. Anyhoo, in addition to the airport scenario there are other “image-based” shots that will debut in the September issues of GQ, Esquire, Vanity Fair, Details and other fash mags.

Exasperated by these repeated questions and the strange, modern-day beauty ideals in our country, five FashionIndie editors went under the Photoshop knife. That’s to say, we were pinned, tucked, pulled, chopped and airbrushed by the very talented photographer Christopher Hall to show you that, with the right team, anyone can be on the cover of an American magazine.

We decided to duplicate the poses of contestants on an America’s Next Top Model poster. As you scroll down, you will see the FashionIndie editors – Samantha Lim, Jessica Lapidos, McArthur Joseph, Lester Brathwaite and me, Amanda Gabriele – before and after the edits. The BEFORE images have the original backgrounds, the AFTER photos were pasted onto plain white. It can be difficult to see the changes without examining the large versions of the photos, so we encourage you to click on each one and check out the work we had done. I’m just saying, when you deliver a fresh-faced tween pop sensation into the grubby hands of one Mr. Terry Richardson, you expect a bit of trash, some inappropriate behavior, a heaping helping of sleaze and, if we’re lucky, a lawsuit.

Even Vanity Fair slutted it up  more than this.

But wait, just when you thought it was safe to bring LOVE into your household,among your children, they slap on this subtitle: “The Beautiful One.”

Those three words are profoundly unsettling. Not because they’re applied to a 16-year-old boy, but because that 16-year-old-boy reminds me of a Muppet more than a paragon of beauty.

I guess that shouldn’t come as a surprise, though. The Muppets are slowly taking over the fashion world.

The GQ awards were given out the other night, and Jon Kortajarena was named GQ’s model of the year. Just want to say congrats on the win Mr. Kortajarena.

Well GQ it’s a step in the right direction actually having women in your magazine. For awhile there I thought you were turning into Details.For awhile I had no clue who the hell January Jones was, but I realized she’s the girl from Mad Men. Apparently I’m the only one in the world who doesn’t watch that show too. Terry Richardson did the shoot (can’t you tell), and while these are just the outtake, they don’t look half bad.

GQ single-handedly wrote the best article of 2009 in my opinion. GQ writer Devin Freidman produced an article titled “Emperor Du Fromage” (meaning Emperor of Cheese) was an up close and personal look into the life of Christian Audgier, which is in no way any less gaudy and vomit inducing than his clothes. I have never been so interested in reading one article in my life, and despite the daunting 11 pages of text, I was hooked. Here are some of the hilarious quotes from the article that I recommend all of you take the time to read:

“Or something like this,” he said. “Me on a horse. And there are ten horses around me with no one on them. On Melrose Street. Something like this.”

“What was the error Von Dutch made? Why doesn’t it really exist anymore? ‘Their mistake? To let me go. When I left, we were at the top of the moon. Now they are crash.’”

“A freestanding brick mansion with grand filigreed stone casement windows, a mansard roof, a driveway where your Bentley is parked in a designated space. The door is heavy and wood, with iron detailing; the front desk is paneled in leather; there’s a perfectly weathered Ralph Lauren–like heavy bag in the waiting room, a large moody black-and-white R&B-record-cover-style portrait of Christian in the entryway. And once I entered and could take in the whole balustraded open floor plan straight up to the skylight, I saw laid out on the white marble floor a stuffed albino peacock, a long leather bench with a fur thrown over it, and what appeared to be a precise replica of the chopper from Easy Rider, with the Stars and Stripes carapace and everything.”

The Gossip Girl star was featured in the magazine talking about his name and how he “barely” has to act to be Dan Humphrey (at least he admits that it’s a poor excuse for acting). If you couldn’t guess just by looking at the image, Terry Richardson was behind the lens for this spread, which would explain the balls in the hand and the blowing of the confetti load. Heidi Klum is the new cover girl for the January 2009 issue of Italian GQ. Not as good as her old GQ shoot back in 2003, but for an older model she doesn’t look too bad, it’s amazing what photoshop can do these days.

It's Just You GQ. It's Just You...

This is why I don’t read GQ magazine any more. Nude photo shoots featuring Streisand-faced dumpster wives who can’t seem to hold on their husbands. Jenny from the block jokes about her real relationship with Bradgelina stating that she secretly vacations them in the Hamptons. Haha, awww so sad, no?

Anyways, the 39 year old actress got the golden Photoshop treatment for her nude shots (didn’t she already do this for Rolling Stone?) and doesn’t look a day over “Blur Tool Number 5″.

Who are you trying to kid Aniston? You can’t endure months under Vince Vaughn and not emerge without a couple of stretch marks and cigarette burns.

Someone impregnate this woman immediately, I think this is closest thing we’ve seen to a celebrity classified ad…

Despite my normally extremist opinions, I am choosing to stay neutral in this decision. I’m not going to say he was necessarily the best designer of the year, but he definitely wasn’t the worst (Christian Audgier wins this one every year in my book). Regardless, I do love Thom Browne, and I think that he does create amazing designs, but at the same time I don’t think I could come out and make the same claim that he was the best designer this year without getting angry comments and challenges against my intelligence. Congrats to you Thom, but I think you might have stolen this one!

If you haven’t seen Pineapple Express yet you’re an idiot. Fashion Indie will unite and say that it is by far one of the funniest movies we have seen in a long time. Funny man James Franco will be gracing the cover of GQ this month, and I think I may have to invest in this issue rather than read it at Barnes & Noble then leave.

Of course, the most puzzling thing about the issue is calling Franco the next James Dean. It wouldn’t be the first time he’s been referred to as the “prince of cool’s” second coming (he played Dean in a made for TV movie back in 01), but in this post-Ledger day wouldn’t it be safe to say that the man who made the Joker terrifying deserves the title? Weigh in indies.
