He’s been “blindfolded and driven to a secret location”! Could this be the same secret location Skrillex will be performing at Thursday night? Invitations with those exact no-peeking-allowed instructions for the Best New Artist Grammy nom’s show were indeed scattered across to a lucky few (Who, me??) by We Are The Superlative Conspiracy. True to their namesake’s philosophy, the headphone/skate/denim brand WeSC is planning something sneaky and totally epic. But to dognap this dubsteppin’ pupster? The horror! Sounds like Skrillex already wubbed his way into DJ Panda Pupstep’s doggy head.

<span

It’s a device that plays two iPods and looks like a mini DJ-turntable, however, this machine is only meant to simulate DJ sounds with a range of reverb and flange and filter and fade effects. So basically you can take away the bass and add some heavy sounds on top of the music. You can also fade the songs into one another, but only by volume, not by speed as in a real DJ’s table. (Everything you heard in the video came directly from Skrillex.) So, for 120 bones, you can play two iPods at once and tinker with the sound.

DJ Panda Pupstep spins the tunes at the It hotspot right now, Chez Moi, 7 nights a week. href="http://theheavypets.com/">The Heavy Pets. They’re a prolific funk-fused jazz-tinged and intellectually driven jam band that tours the country, making fans like me dance like wild to their heavy jams and visual feast of lights. They are staples in the lineups at monstrous festivals like Bonnaroo, Langerado, moe.down, Gathering of the Vibes, and my personal fave All Good. They’re seen by many hundreds of thousands fans across the United States. They’ve recorded with Grammy winning producers and renowned musicians. They’re talented and musically sexy. The singular drawback I find in them, and in many bands that surround the jam genre, is that they dress like…well…boys. The goal is to trim some of the immaturity off of their look, and bring them style-wise into the bold maturing and experimental sound of their music. Today I’m going on a styling adventure with lead singer Jeff Lloyd to help The Heavy Pets to dress like they sound for their concert this Friday, March 18th at The Brooklyn Bowl.

<a

So, how did Anna Wintour do styling her? Adele walked the red carpet in a custom made Barbara Tfank flared dress and a satin green jacket with tuxedoed Hamish Bowles. Wait…are we sure Wintour styled with Adele in mind or her own personal fashion taste? This looks exactly like something Wintour would wear! Either way, I think the whole look is a bit matronly. The jacket isn’t exactly flattering and the black/green color combo makes me wonder why Adele is on the red carpet and not the Broadway stage of Wicked. Well Wintour, you tried…and failed. Moral of the story: never try.

Thanks for the photo <a
