St. Patty’s Day is tomorrow which means three things: 1.) Dave & Buster’s is going to have their busiest day of the year 2.) My own all-day drunkeness will be masked if not completely eclipsed by everyone else’s and 3.) There will be a sea of green flooding the streets…followed by a sea of vomit. Sure, the Irish have only so much to be proud of* — a potato famine and Bono, I mean, I get it — so they want to show off their pride the only way they know how: by wearing head-to-toe green and getting sloshed beyond comprehension. I’m all for that. But there are ways to wear green — even in a head to toe fashion, which, not gonna lie to ya is tricky and best left to the masters. How many ways, you ask? Let’s say 5…and discuss.

*I really have nothing against the Irish…I don’t like anyone.

A paltry $75K saphire, peridot and diamond bluet clip at Tiffany's

1. Accessorize. Sometimes subtlety goes a long way. But it never really goes long enough, so if you choose to wear a simple green pin or earrings, make them as fabulous as possible. After all, thousands of leprachauns died to make this holiday possible...that is what St. Patty's is all about right? The St. Patrick's Day Massacre of 17-whatever?

Louis Vuitton Mens SS 2011

2. Layer. March is a notoriously tricky month to dress for because it's torn between two seasons. It'll be 60 degrees one day and will snow the next -- this kooky global warming. So a good trick is layering. Bundle up for the cold morning, shed a few layers for the afternoon sun and reapply after sundown. For St. Patrick, stagger your green for when you stagger out of the nearest tavern or pub.

Shala Monroque in Harper's Bazaar

3. Mix Shades. There are as many shades of green as there are voices floating around in Charlie Sheen's head: emerald, chartreuse, turquoise, forest, hunter, neon, lime, jungle, kelly, mint...and in listing them it's clear that they all have the gayest names possible. So why not mix a little kelly with a little spring bud and top it off with a shock of marijauana. That's not technically a shade of green, but it's my favorite kind, nonetheless.

Prada's SS 2011 Ad f/ Mariacarla Boscono

4. Patterns. The more green you incorporate into your look, the more inventive you have to get. And thus, the more fun! Throw different patterns together: prints and polka dots, stripes and stars, this and that, etc. It's totally easy to O.D. on too many patterns, however, so in these situations it's best to follow Coco Chanel's simple rule: remove one item before leaving the house. And since it's St. Patty's, that item can easily be your panties. Just sayin'...makes things a lot easier come nightfall.

Scarlett O'Hara Going Green with the Wind

5. Go Big or Go Home. You know how I said how tricky it was to pull off head to toe green? Well when in doubt, fair people of Ireland (and I really mean fair -- it's like the Irish are literally allergic to the sun), look to national heroine Scarlett O'Hara. She needed to make a statement so she just took down some old curtains and sewed them into a gown (or rather, had her maid take down some old curtains and sew them into a gown). Sure, the gown bordered on bad taste but isn't that what the holidays are all about? Getting drunk, embarrassing yourself, your friends, your family and then laughing it all off so no one suspects your rampant alcohol problem? So, wear those goofy green beer glasses and those goofy green top hats and those goofy green athletic jerseys -- let your d-bag flag fly! Bad taste is a look that the Irish have been pulling off -- and pulling off better than anyone -- for centuries. Celebrate it.

In this edition of Street Chic Report Card, Lady Gaga will be graded on her Valentino Fall 2011 coat and Christian Louboutin platform pumps worn when she arrived to the Narita International Airport in Japan. See how she looked after the jump.

Gaga will be rated on the below categories, five being the highest and 1 being the lowest.

Fit: 4

Appropriateness: 5

Trendiness: 5

Styling: 5

Shoes: 5

Hair: 4

Makeup: 5

Pose: 5

Confidence: 5

It would be impossible to give Lady Gaga anything less than an A for this very green look. I died when I saw how fantastic the shoes look with this covetable Valentino coat. From the claw, to the hair to the attitude, this queen has got it going on (obviously).

After spending the afternoon at the Green Products Expo at the Hyatt at Grand Central Station, my mind is reeling with eco friendliness. Organic this! Gluten-free that! Antioxidants in everything! All of the green foods we tasted today have seeped into the fashion conscious. Thus, we bring you three sustainable looks to match super eco foods.

I screamed for Ginger Cookie Caramel. Literally, it was that bangin’. It’s by Coconut Bliss, a completely vegan breed of ice cream made from, well, coconut milk. It reminded me of the environmental goodness of Stewart+Brown. With the cardigan made of 96% hemp, and the blouse of organic cotton, it’s good on the earth. Like ice coco-cream.

This Organic by John Patrick flounce top has the essence of the über healthy Quinoa. The protein quinoa supplies is complete protein, meaning that it includes all nine essential amino acids and can even cure migraines. The shirt and the grain together are unstoppable goodness.

Diaya is the most cheese-like non-cheese on the market right now. And its off-white shreddedness kind of reminds me of this top by Dress Reform. The boat neck fringe top is made of 100% organic cotton, and the “cheese” is 100% dairy, lactose, casein, gluten, soy and cholesterol free. Everybody wins!

All week you’ve seen the debut of this new column, Boutique Critique, and today brings our first shop Début to the final outfit. This look has a whole lot of that green buzzword about it: Sustainability. Storeowner Lisa Weiss runs her store to be socially and environmentally conscious with the small batch runs of new lines alongside handmade jewelry. Reaching even deeper, Début features several designers who take more radical steps to be sustainable. Such as Christopher Raeburn who takes the philosophy of repurposing to warrior status, and Monisha Raja who brings a whole new meaning to outsourcing with her line Love Is Mighty. Read ahead to see the most eco-loving look yet. And a dash of of pattern mashing.

Like what you’re seeing? Shop it all at 10% off at Début when you mention FashionIndie!

LOOK FIVE: Sustainable Pattern Mashup

The Parachute Hoodie: Christopher Raeburn, $462

Christopher Raeburn caught my attention with his collection in London for next fall. He takes discarded military material and repurposes them as slickers and other articles of clothing. Like this jacket for instance, that is made from 100% Parachute Nylon. I had been eyeing a different holy jacket down, as it was featured in its own front display, but I didn’t end up putting it with my chosen looks. That piece would suffice to live independently of an outfit; a true outer layer fit to engulf any look. This neon piece, however, seemed more the challenge: I was after some good pattern mixin’.

The Tank: Timo Weiland, $320

To suit my pattern mashing desires, Timo Weiland jumped to me once more. The sheer red-orange organic shapes that formulate on this tank completely complement the wild dotting of the jacket. But what’s on the back of the shirt, you ask? Why it’s the same tree landscape we saw on the dress in the previous look.

The Skirt: Lisa Marie Fernandez, $224

You might have sensed my affinity for neoprene at this point. Lisa Marie Fernandez shapes up a lovely little black skirt, beach- and bar-friendly.Though, I must admit, if there were to have been a brightly patterned bottom that meshed, I would have Man-Repellered it up.

The Necklace: Orly Genger, $395

This rope conglomeration collar hung from a single nail in the Orly Genger nook, and eyed me down the entire two hours I was in Début. Each mountain climbers rope speckled with neon, hand-tied knots wrapping concentrically around thick straight ones, clung together.

The Sandals: Love Is Mighty, $175

My vision for this outfit was sandals. Monisha Raja‘s vision for these sandals was environmental and social sustainability. Employing artisans from indigenous tribes across the globe, she uses traditional arts and crafts techniques and completely animal friendly materials to produce beaded sandals and bags. See the Facebook page for more about their world involvement.

Thanks to Début for a fabulously fashionable week! Check back Monday for another shop, just down the block.

My own all-day drunkeness will be masked if not completely eclipsed by everyone else’s and 3.) There will be a sea of green flooding the streets…followed by a sea of vomit.

1. Accessorize. Sometimes subtlety goes a long way. But it never really goes long enough, so if you choose to wear a simple green pin or earrings, make them as fabulous as possible. After all, thousands of leprachauns died to make this holiday possible…that is what St. Patty’s is all about right? The St. Patrick’s Day Massacre of 17-whatever?

A paltry $75K saphire, peridot and diamond bluet clip at Tiffany's

2. Layer. March is a notoriously tricky month to dress for because it’s torn between two seasons. It’ll be 60 degrees one day and will snow the next — this kooky global warming. So a good trick is layering. Bundle up for the cold morning, shed a few layers for the afternoon sun and reapply after sundown. For St. Patrick, stagger your green for when you stagger out of the nearest tavern or pub.

Louis Vuitton Mens SS 2011 / Photo: GQ

3. Mix Shades. There are as many shades of green as there are voices floating around in Charlie Sheen‘s head: emerald, chartreuse, turquoise, forest, hunter, neon, lime, jungle, kelly, mint…and in listing them it’s clear that they all have the gayest names possible. So why not mix a little kelly with a little spring bud and top it off with a shock of marijauana. That’s not technically a shade of green, but it’s my favorite kind, nonetheless.

Shala Monroque in Harper's Bazaar

4. Patterns. The more green you incorporate into your look, the more inventive you have to get. And thus, the more fun! Throw different patterns together: prints and polka dots, stripes and stars, this and that, etc. It’s totally easy to O.D. on too many patterns, however, so in these situations it’s best to follow Coco Chanel‘s simple rule: remove one item before leaving the house. And since it’s St. Patty’s, that item can easily be your panties. Just sayin’…makes things a lot easier come nightfall.

Prada's SS 2011 Ad f/ Mariacarla Boscono

5. Go Big or Go Home. You know how I said how tricky it was to pull off head to toe green? Well when in doubt, fair people of Ireland (and I really mean fair — it’s like the Irish are literally allergic to the sun), look to national heroine Scarlett O’Hara. She needed to make a statement so she just took down some old curtains and sewed them into a gown (or rather, had her maid take down some old curtains and sew them into a gown). Sure, the gown bordered on bad taste but isn’t that what the holidays are all about? Getting drunk, embarrassing yourself, your friends, your family and then laughing it all off so no one suspects your rampant alcohol problem? So, wear those goofy green beer glasses and those goofy green top hats and those goofy green athletic jerseys — let your d-bag flag fly! Bad taste is a look that the Irish have been pulling off – and pulling off better than anyone — for centuries. Celebrate it.

Scarlett O'Hara Going Green with the Wind

*I really have nothing against the Irish…I don’t like anyone.

Fast fashion impresario Sir Philip Green might be in a little bit of hot water. Despite recently being appointed unofficial financial advisor to the Prime Minister of England, members of the British Parliament are insisting he be investigated for tax evasion as Crafty Phil has registered his ownings to his wife in Monaco meaning he doesn’t have to pay taxes on his many companies.

If this investigation goes through and Green is hit with some punishments, might Topshop join the ranks of American Apparel and Abercrombie & Fitch in becoming a dying breed? Methinks no, but it’ll still be interesting to see how it all plays out.

I was at a club this weekend and saw this vid of “Just Be Good to Green” and instantly recognized the Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall cape-coat on Lily Allen. I know that Kate Hudson was seen twice back in April wearing it, but doesn’t it look a tad bit matronly? I guess I have to see it in real life to appreciate it. Who knows, I might end up LVoein’ it?!

Late night runners rejoice, for Stella McCartney brings a fashionable solution to low visibility of runners while jogging in the dark. Glamazons run in pairs come dusk or dawn, because as they say, “Safety in numbers.” Running after dark is dangerous due to low visibility on the road, which makes the running an unintended target for speeding cars. The new Stella McCartney Glow-in-the-Dark collection for Adidas is the fashionable and eco-friendly alternative to running with reflector vests.

The new Glow-in-the-Dark collection is geared toward women, especially those looking for more flattering exercise gear. The appealing collection includes sports jackets with ruched shoulders, draw string shorts and running shoes in a bold leopard print that glows green in the dark but so chic it will make the Green Lantern jealous.

Blake Lively promoted her new movie ‘Green Lantern’ with costars Ryan Reynolds and Peter Sarsgaard at Comic Con on Saturday. Fans camped out overnight to see a clip from the movie, according to the AP (full story below the photos).

SAN DIEGO (AP) – Ryan Reynolds says he took the title role in “Green Lantern” to play a hero that can “throw a punch, tell a joke and kiss a girl.”

The actor, along with castmates Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard and Mark Strong and director Martin Campbell, presented a clip from the film at Comic-Con Saturday for some 6,000 ecstatic fans, many of whom camped out overnight for a chance to see the presentation.

Campbell says the 3-D movie blends realistic action with humor and an otherworldly trip to the planet Oa, home of the Green Lanterns. He added that while the hero’s costume is “a work in progress,” his cinematic story is set: He is joined by his fellow Green Lanterns for a face-off against Parallax, whom Reynolds describes as “the physical manifestation of fear in our movie.”

The clip showed Reynolds as Hal Jordan, who, after a fight with street thugs, takes the Green Lantern oath and uses his new powers to blow them away. Reynolds recited the oath for the Comic-Con crowd, which rewarded him with cheers.

The cast seemed to embrace the Comic-Con energy, and revealed which characters they’d dress up with if they could walk the convention floor. Reynolds would go as a Wookie because he likes to “be cute and dangerous.” Lively would dress as Harry Potter and Sarsgaard would go as Captain America. Strong said he’d dress as his “Green Lantern” character, Sinestro.

DC Comics chief Geoff Johns hinted that other Green Lantern films, and a Justice League movie, could follow: “The success of ‘Green Lantern’ will lead the charge for everything DC does.”

“Green Lantern” opens in June.

1. Megan Fox married longtime boyfriend Brian Austin Green on the beach wearing a custom Armani Prive gown. The dress design was simple – besides from a 16 foot train. People StyleWatch

Among the examples are silk & chiffon, which tend to flow & gather. On the
other hand, fabrics like cotton & denim are inclined to hold shape &
lend themselves to casual styles are being revived this year. If you already
throw away your cotton & denim last season, there’s no require to fret
because they are always easy to replace not to mention that remain cheap.

Fashion is always changing yet a number of them are the reflection of another decade.
There is fashioned trends that are worth reviving & while others were
remained as history. There is materials that are hip last year & remain
fashionable in 2009. This season is unsurprisingly interesting for fashion
trends & styles. Comfort & perfect fitting mixed with mens black
tuxedos. So you don’t require to worry about not looking lovely because you can
still look great on your casual attire.

There is trends from the last season that are still in & worth for reinvention
for this season. It’s a matter of choosing the right tuxedos. But the major
issue for this remains the same. You must always pick the kind of mens tuxedo that will make you comfortable & will always perfectly fit on you. It’s
always a & factor when when style & comfort can be combined. Still, the
low cut, patterned sneakers with ties that sport the best of brand names
remained to be popular & hot as ever.

Brown is classic yet trendy, so as with black. & while brown is still hip in 2009
fashion, metallic silvers & golds are staying around from the 2008 season.
This new Year, the latest trendy colors are cobalt blues, yellows, & Kelly
greens. & shoes are always thought about as part of mens clothes. Animal
prints are still in & popular. & of coursework, the undying mens suits,
blazers, sports jackets, coats & other leathered mens clothing.

 He's never summered...

He’s never summered in Nantucket but appreciates a good pair of plaid shorts. He wears Dr. Martens with a double-breasted navy blazer and isn’t afraid to mash up traditional patterns. You can’t quite tell if he’s from London, the Lower East Side, or Greenwich, Connecticut, which is exactly how he likes it. This spring, designer Junya Watanabe built an entire collection around this guy and called it Snob. We call the look preppy with edge.

I like it, I like it. While considered “preppy,” the pieces are more relaxed and not as “buttoned up” as some collections. I personally find the preppy with a certain edge a bit more appealing. It’s always interesting to see designers such as Junya Watanabe put their spin on pieces which are not their usual forte.

Think a breath of fresh air when you see Jenny’s designs because that’s literally what you’ll get. Jenny Gordy’s creations are stylish, yet extremely comfortable. No struggling in girdle tight waists or ill-fitting push-up tops here. Jenny proves you can look good in her clothes and feel good in them too.

Wiksten is her independent clothing line named lovingly after her grandmother’s Swedish last name. Jenny’s works are hand sewn from natural fabrics like linen and cotton. She also showcases adorable necklaces made out of wool in her Winter 2009 collection. For spring 2010, Wiksten introduces delicately, polka-dotted, woven tops and cotton shirt dresses.

Peek at the young designer’s blog Westin-made to discover indie style gems. There she posts pictures of her latest designs, inspirations and, once in a while, a look in to her personal life to see where her passion for sewing is drawn from. She also guest blogs for Lucky magazine and teaches a sewing class now and then in Fort Greene Brooklyn. She’s a graduate of The Fashion Institute in New York and calls Brooklyn her home where she lives with her husband and two cats. Combining elegant simplicity with modern design, Wiksten is definitely the future of independent design and style.

Every year, the world’s top watchmakers gather in Basel, Switzerland, to show off their latest creations.

(style.com)

Luscious classics! While a classic watch such as Omega, Longines and Rolex are the ultimate, go with everything type watch, I personally prefer those with a little “punch.” My choices would be Rado, the ferragamo in picture six, and Degrisogono’s offering…….I love that green!

So you know how most people cannot finish a can of soda by themselves, well now with the help of Ukranian (we are a smart bunch) inventor Johan De Broyer, there is a clever way to re-seal those cans, and opens up new possibilities for advertisers at the same time. The tab pops as usual, and then when you want to re-seal it, you turn the pop top tab and it completely closes up the can again.

The inventor says his invention can creates a completely tight seal with an added incentive for advertisers. That right, it’s about time someone improved those 250 billion drink cans consumed annually. I know that this has nothing to do with fashion but it’s amazing that there are people out there creating more and more eco friendly products or making improvements on old ones in order to make a change.

Leila Hafzi is a fashion designer dedicated to making a difference. In 1997, she presented her first collection, introducing the idea of eco and ethical trade to the Norwegian high-end fashion industry. Eleven years later her goal remains unchanged; to champion eco and ethical trade in the fashion industry on a global basis, and continue developing a 100 percent environmentally-friendly production cycle.

This season, her company Nepal Productions is presenting a collection drawing inspiration from the global topic of environmental changes; she is also starting a cooperative effort with the Norwegian Peace Corps and Nepal. Several company employees will be working in Katmandu for one year with clothing production, and two of the most skilled tailors from Katmandu will work in Norwegian company facilities. Hafzi hopes to present her creations as part of Norwegian design in New York, yet another signal that her eco fashion is truly coming into style.

Bamboo is like the whiz kid of the botany world. It builds houses, feeds pandas, filters toxins out of the soiland grows up to four feet per day in any climate—and it also makes a pretty great cashmere substitute. Pamplemosses is a new label out of LA that has realized the potential of this overachieving plant and used it to create a line of kitten-soft garments for men, women and babies, proving that luxury doesn’t have to harm the earth.

The brainchild of artist Gene Eu, Pamplemosses was born in November 2006 with a simple goal in mind: “to bring people harmonious products that are comfortable, beautiful, and nurturing to the environment.” To achieve this, each Pamplemosses T-shirt, dress and pair of underwear is crafted from 100% natural bamboo fiber, and is silk screened with Eu’s nature-inspired illustrations in water-based ink. The resulting fabrics are not just super soft, but also hypoallergenic, antibacterial and UV protective—apparently, the only thing they can’t do is make the morning coffee.

The past year’s journey has been a major learning curve for Eu and his team, many of whom come from high-fashion backgrounds. “Working with bamboo is a pretty new approach, and there weren’t any rules for us to follow when we started out,” he explains. But with a growing following among the fashion set and exciting new innovations in fabric color and texture in the works for next year, it looks like their cram session has more than paid off.
