Meet our newest indie intern, we call her Social Media Sara. Today was her very first day and also her birthday! She moved to Manhattan on Saturday all the way from Michigan AND she turned 21 today. It’s a good day to be Social Media Sara. We welcomed her and sang her birthday in with itty bitty cupcakes and a bag full o’ swag. But Sara still wanted more, and so she picked out 10 items that would make her birthday all the sweeter.

Christian Dior is the best way to transmit the values and culture of France,” proclaimed Bernard Arnault, chief of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, on Tuesday night at the grand opening of a lavish Dior exhibition in Russia. I see someone’s trying to wipe clean the memory of a recent incident in which Dior might not have been the best representation of French ideals… Regardless, it was a stunning night of beautiful fashionites, plus many art buffs for their first time get an emotional taste of the artistry of Haute Couture.

Designer Discovery: Elaine Kim

Elaine Kim is the influential force behind Los Angeles boutique Ecru as well as fashion forward womens-wear label Product. Now, after a decade-long sabbatical from fashion, she is launching her eponymous label. The debut collection is named after Gustav Klimt’s painting Expectation and offers a highly personal vision of decadence, opulence and sensuality.

The concise assortment of day-to-evening dresses and separates was inspired by the decorative richness of Klimt’s canvases as well as László Moholy-Nagy’s photographic studies of urban industrial texture. The colors encompass the mysterious metallic black and gray hues of industrial materials, accented with the decadent saturated jewel tones of sapphire blue and quartz purple.
