It looks like Paltrow picked up on the androgyny trend as sketches indicate men’s suiting and 70’s inspired oversized scoop-neck tops. Though the designs appear rather simple and seemingly mainstream, the partners in crime plan on using uniquely crafted fabrics like cashmere blends, recycled cotton and wool mesh.

The duo plans on releasing a Spring 2010 collection, so if this one is a success, we’ve got ourselves a whole year to look forward through!

The New Mr. Blackwell?

The New Mr. Blackwell? all indie

Mr. Blackwell died in October, but political consultant Roger Stone has taken it upon himself to continue the Best Dressed and Worst Dressed tradition.

Who?  I know, I don’t know.

I guess he’s something of an icon for the Republican party, but apparently quite the fashion plate as well.

The New York Times has taken notice of Stone for his “flamboyant personal style” and “sartorial elegance.”

I’m not sure if Stone would have Blackwell’s blessing on this.  But I have just read a little biographical info on this guy, and I am now fascinated with his Nixon tattoo and perennial suspenders.

So on his website, The STONEzone, Stone has published his “official list of the best and worst dressed men and women of 2008.”

He also apologizes to American women for popular men’s fashions and notes that “lobbyists are the only elegant men left in America.”

His best-dressed men include Barack Obama, Jay-Z, Al Sharpton, Calvin Klein, and Eliot Spitzer. Best-dressed women include Carla Bruni, Rihanna, Fran Leibowitz, Victoria Beckham, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Sophia Loren, Penelope Cruz, and Sarah Palin.

Worst-dressed people include Simon Cowell, Justin Timberlake, Ashton Kutcher, Johnny Knoxville, Peter Wentz (yes, he calls him Peter), Madonna, Gloria Steinem and Christiane Amanpour.

Some are speculating that Gwyneth will be opening a chain of gyms with her trainer Tracy Anderson. Good idea, but if their cycling classes exclusively feature tracks from Coldplay I’m out.

Fashion Quotables: Gwyneth Paltrow emerging fashion

In attempts to salvage her reputation with PETA for wearing a fur stole in a recent Tod’s campaign, Paltrow had this to say:

“It was a daylong photo shoot on a boat near Capri, and there were all sorts of poses with all kinds of clothes — none with fur. During one set-up, a stylist came up from behind and draped a stole around my shoulder. I didn’t pay much attention to it, and when I noticed it was fur, I assumed it was fake fur, but did not ask, so it’s my fault. I know it’s not a great excuse, but I hope you and your members understand.”

Fake fur? If you’re a multi-millionaire actress, I’m almost positive you know what real fur feels like. And really, you couldn’t feel the plush stole draped around your neck? What, do you have defective nerve endings too? Nice try Paltrow, it’s time to confess to PETA that you could care less about the fox around your neck and care more about the money in the bank.

Thanks NY Mag!

I’m not one to discriminate based on age when it comes to wardrobe choices. If you have awesome legs at 70, rock a mini, I don’t care. But it has to fit!

Gwyneth Paltrow, of course, is not quite 70, but she seemed to be losing her strapless Stella McCartney dress at the Fontainebleau Grand Opening Party in Miami Beach on Friday.  She could have done much better than this unflattering fit.

Behold, the lob, also known as the long bob, which Frédéric Fekkai stylist Adir Abergel is calling the seventies comeback cut of the season. A good option for emphasizing your neck and shoulders, the style (currently worn by Anne Hathaway, Gwyneth Paltrow and Eva Longoria) relies on a certain choppiness at the ends—so that it appears texturized, rather than blunt—and volume, lots of volume (the idea is soft and full, not sleek). Great way to get a head start on growing that short hair long, this trend is versatile and compliments many different face shapes.

Thanks Style

Leave it to Gwyn to wear fur with gladiator sandals. First of all, it’s not that cold yet, why is she wearing a fur coat over her gown (which is actually beautiful)? And if she is that cold, why did she decide to wear sandals instead of a pair of really cool boots? Separately, the pieces are great, but together it’s another fashion fuck up!

Thanks Just Jarred for the pics

Gwyneth has recently been shocking me with how good she’s been looking. I mean don’t get me wrong I have always found her fashionable and beautiful, but she has been out doing herself lately. Gwyneth looks amazing in her cute red dress and black, open toed pumps. I wish she wouldn’t have gone with the black nail polish, doesn’t she know grey is all the rave. Oh well, there’s always next time! Keep it up!

Thanks Just Jared.

Did Gwynie not get the memo about the dress code? Sure the party was ‘Hamptons casual’ but what is she wearing? A paper thin tee and short-shorts? Shame on you Gwyneth! And Anna thinks you’re Vogue’s golden child.

David and Victoria Beckham’s baby Brooklyn

If you thought we were over the weird baby name thing, you’re in for a sweet surprise. A New Zealand family court has ordered a 9-year-old girl to undergo a name change. Painful process..I know. The little girl named Talula Does The Hula felt close to her roots from native Hawaii until the court  had to interferre. “It makes a fool of the child and sets her up with a social disability and handicap,” says the concerned court. Thankfully someone got the idea!

Along with the order of the name change several names were band from the faces of innocence including Fish and Chips, Yeah Detroit, Keenan Got Lucy and Sex Fruit. Sadly, the number 16, Bus Shelter and Violence are still permitted. Well, at least it’s a start.

Jason Lee’s kid Pilot Inspektor

Let’s get real, this is becoming ridiculous! With names like Pilot Inspektor and Camera, kids in the next generation are sure to be jumping off cliffs for the ultimate plunge. Someone needs to start thinking about these kids. Or at least keep them under watch. I certainly don’t know what it’s like to walk around as a fruit and I would never wish that upon anyone. When a kid grows up and asks why he’s named Brooklyn and the answer is because that’s where he was conceived, it’s a suicide waiting to happen. Come on everyone, let’s try and keep the parents away from the cocktails.

For your entertainment, here are some more awesome names: Sailor Lee, Fifi Trixibelle, Free, Audio Science, Moon Unit, Poppy Honey, Daisy Boo, Sunday and Spec Wildhorse

Babies for Bills

In today’s world, once someone is tagged a celebrity it becomes a custom for them to think it’s okay to act in abnormal fashion. Normally, this doesn’t phase us, but it really has gone to far. How much money are magazines willing to pay for a baby photo? Although I could say this is just as much a reporters fault as it is the celebrities, I won’t, because the celebs should really learn not to auction off their picture perfect family photo album.

Honor: 1.5 million

Aside from the fact that it’s just outright ridiculous, let’s walk a couple years into the future and act like we think about these kids even for a second. I can picture the whole fight going down. “I was worth 10 million at two days old.” And the of course the retaliation, “I was worth 10.5.” And there you have it, while Apple and Moses double team Shiloh, there’s Harlow in the corner because she was only worth one.

Not only are these sons and daughters going to be burdened by their worth, their names will manage to haunt them as well. Honor? Moses? Come on. I can picture all the kids taunting Apple with fruit in the cafeteria as Coco sits next to her with requests for hot chocolate. Make it stop! Please, for the sake of your kids. It’s depression waiting to happen.

Vogue Readers Not Fooled By Lame Covers emerging fashion

Month after month Vogue has failed to impress us here at FashionIndie and it turns out were not the only ones. The Queen of Vogue, Miss Anna Wintour has misfired on back-to-back covers this year. First there was the Lebron James/King Kong fiasco that led media outlets to call the magazine racist. Now the sales figures show that the April issue sold well below average, a paltry 350,000 copies-the lowest numbers since the April 2001 cover. But that wasn’t the worst selling cover yet….that belongs to May cover girl Gwyneth Paltrow, the issue only sold 310,000. I guess we weren’t the only ones not interested in seeing her stone-y machine like face.

How Short is too Short?

How Short is too Short? emerging fashion

Gwyneth Paltrow graces the July cover of Bazaar in confidence. Her black pumps are accompanied with a sequin Proenza Schouler tee. Don’t think your going insane if all you see are Gwyneth’s seductive legs. What happened to pants or a skirt? I guess they were no shows at this photo shoot. While the outfit does well to  portray Gwyneth’s ability to be comfortable in her own skin, it would be nice if we saw a little less of it. Gwyneth’s lucky she’s not hailing a cab in the streets of Manhattan becasuse as soon as she unglues her arms from her sides; she’ll be shedding an unnecessary view. Let’s stick to dresses and if you need a top to substitute maybe it should be a few inches longer.

Before They Had Stylists: Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow is considered one of the most sytlish women on the red carpet. But it takes work to be considered this. It requires hard work! Sometimes you need to make mistakes on the red carpet to realize that you can’t do everything. And what you need is a really great stylist.

1991:

Here Paltrow is making her first red carpet apparence with her mother. Notice the men’s long sleeve button down, the gray wool short with pantyhose. And let’s not forget the Granny-quilt clutch. However most horrifying is Paltrow before highlights. I’m sure she thought this outfit was a good idea at the time.

2008

Here Paltrow is some 17 years later having concurred the red carpet. Between her first red carpet appearance and now she learned that she is not a fashion icon, rather an actress. But there are people you can hire to make you look like you know how to dress. Money well spent Paltrow.
