I’m never one to be drawn to the typical black, white, red and beige “House” plaid of Burberry, but this adorable clutch caught my eye the minute I saw it! I was bumming around the Soho Bloomingdales when the Burberry Bridle Ashcombe Clutch jumped out at me from a corner case. I’m loving the cotton canvas base with leather detailing straps and polished hardware. Heck, I don’t even mind the equestrian Burberry logo on the front of the bag! I initially thought this would be a great Christmas gift for my stylish mother…well, I thought wrong. The 3×11 clutch will set you back $795, a price I simply cannot imagine paying for a bag that can probably only hold a a cell phone, some lip gloss, a tampon and a few dollars. If you’re willing to splurge, this may be the item to do it on!

For one reason or another, NY Magazine always decides to take it upon themselves to come up with their 100+ picks for their favorite/trendiest sweaters, jeans, cocktail dresses etc. Well, their recent 130 picks for the best gloves, hats and scarves did anything but keep me warm. After filtering through several pages of hideous fascia slouch hats and typical plaid scarves, I found my top five accessory picks from the Shop-A-Matic list. Voila: 

Plait Cheek Fedora by Alpinestars ($36)

Ah ha! I spot a straw hat (as seen in the Coco Chanel documentary!) ready for winter! So it might be a season early for a hat like this, but pair it with a cute layered black outfit and you’ll look stunning!

Leather-Trim Cable Knit Glove by Banana Republic ($39)

If you’re going for a more classy look, pair these gloves with a nice black sweater and a sleek black coat. They might be a bit preppy but the leather trim erases the “blah” from the typical cable-knit glove.

Spalding Avenue Scarf by Mike and Chris ($98)

I don’t know about you, but I’m loving the trend of breaking fashion rule #3 and actually wearing black and brown together. I recently bought a pair of black and brown leather boots and despite it’s masculinity, this scarf would look killer with them!

Teo Hat by Theory ($95)

They might be everywhere, but I love the saggy knit hats. Worn slouched off the back of your head, this hat is a nice alternative to the winter beanie hat. Make sure you pair it with a good outfit or else you’re going to blend in with the rest of the hipster population.

Felt Fedora with Grogorian Ribbon Trim by Hat Attack ($98)

Hands down my favorite. Who needs a traditional fedora when you can have one decked out in felt. Wear it inside. Wear it outside. Just wear it…it rocks.

I just spotted this Kooba Metallic Perforated Nelli Bag on Shopbop and it totally had me reminiscing about the Fall 2008 collections of some of my favorite indies.  The hard, cold metallic look with it’s industrial rivets reminded me of pieces spotted in Rag & Bone, Ruffian and Alexander Wang. When Anya Hindmarch was first getting a lot of press, it wasn’t take long before I wanted to dropkick everything that wasn’t a plastic bag. But I’m kind of digging some pieces in her limited edition handbag collection for Target.

The line debuted at Target’s Bullseye Bodegas earlier this month. They sold out in the exclusive Manhattan locations, but are available Oct. 8 at anyahindmarch.com, and October 12 at Target.

Burberry was the last company I imagined making a clutch like this, but I’m glad they did. This clutch is the definition of “fierce” fashion, and one of the best pieces of the year if you ask me. Good luck getting it though, the waiting list is already up on the Burberry website. As if getting on the list weren’t hard enough, then you have to drop around $2,000 for the clutch. Totally worth it!

Michael Teperson’s designs in general didn’t strike me. They’re nice, but pretty grown-up-looking and plain. This Flute Feather Clutch is the exception. I’m obsessed with the Olsens and birds, so I love wearing anything feathery. I usually go faux to avoid having to pop Claritin all day, but I think this clutch is so hilarious and wonderful.

Teperson released his first collection of accessories in 2004, a few years after wrapping up studies at Parsons (Paris), the Royal College of Art, and Central St. Martin’s.
