2 Weeks Until Hermes Price Increases Worldwide

The already uber-expensive French luxury brand Hermes is planning to announce an overall company price hike sometime within the next 10 days. If you’ve been planning on saving up (or buttering a sugar mama/daddy) for that Birkin or Kelly, now is the time to buy. With the bags already shooting into the price range hundreds of thousands what on earth could be justifying a price hike and how much could the rise be?…

The hikes are rumored to happen anywhere between January 24th to early February and have already been noticed in Europe and Asia. Markups on the bags, accessories, scarves, jewelry and shoes will be around 9%. Hermes ceo Patrick Thomas told BusinessWeek that the “reasonable level” is due to “significant” silk, cashmere, and crocodile skin costs increases. Thankfully, Hermes is one of the most esteemed investment brands, and their bags’ value, in most cases, have incredible return rates if ever sold. Happy shopping (or in our cases, happy dreaming).

Victoria Beckham is posh-spice-ing things up with a new, sleek line of handbags.

Becks’ bags were up for grabs on Net-a-Porter UK this morning, and they SOLD OUT like Justin Bieber tickets at a little-girl-fest. The bags officially hit stores later this month.

Beckham’s new handbag line comes in six sexy styles and retails between $1,800 to $13,950. Look for them at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus LA and netaporter.com.

I’m impressed. Anything this girl touches turns to gold bricks of awesome.

Victoria seamlessly bridged the gap from pop superstar to trophy wife to high-fashion designer. She is brand new to the couture game and was already nominated for a British Fashion Award earlier this year.

Can’t wait to see the continued evolution of the Beckham power couple, as they dominate the world.

Leitmotiv for Furla Fall 2010 Collection Preview

As I’ve written before, Leitmotiv and Furla collaborated on another handbags and accessories collection. Continuing the line of abstract illustrations, this one takes us on Dorothy’s journey through the Land of Oz. The result? A colorful selection of totes, frame satchels (a prominent trend this fall), printed umbrellas, leather gloves and even a watch, displaying the Land of Oz in all its glory. Any one of these will bring a playful touch of nostalgia into your fall wardrobe.

The collection ‘Leitmovitv for Furla Talent Hub’ will be launched on September 10, during Fashion’s night Out. The price range for the handbags will be at $245 to $345.

The collection will be released at department stores like Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor and Macy's come February. With a price range of $75 to $175, Ivanka's fans who cannot afford her jewelry collection will be able to own a handbag she created.
“I would like consumers to be able to connect with the Ivanka Trump brand in a wide range of price points while maintaining the integrity of the brand from a quality and design perspective,” Trump explained.
“My overall goal is that every consumer will have the opportunity to grow with the Trump brand, from the purchase of Ivanka Trump shoes and accessories to ultimately staying in Trump hotels, playing our golf courses and living in our condominium buildings.”
The collection reflects Ivanka's personal style, reinventing lady-like totes and satchels, as well as elegant evening bags using exotic skins and three dimensional textures in spring colors. Some of the bags will be timeless additions to any accessories closet. Ivanka also plans on launching a shoe line in the same price range as the handbags. Her ambition to make fashion affordable no matter the level of disposable income is her true Trump card.

You know what I love about this outfit? It’s simple, yet completely stylish. Guys like simple. There’s something to be said about a woman who can look good and be stylish without trying too hard. To be frank, it’s very attractive.

One thing I’ve noticed is a trend of over-accessorizing. I don’t mind ostentatious belts, or showy hats, or elaborate necklaces, or colorful scarves, etc., but when you combine so many of these things into one outfit, it makes the outfit feel too overdone and contrived. Not only that, but with an overabundance of accessories the focus is taken away from the actual outfit itself. Less is more; keep it simple.

And as a guy, that’s what we want. Looking good and looking fashionable, to us, is about creating a look that emphasizes who you are as a person, without all the cover-up.

So what do you think of Grace’s outfit? What do you think of the accessorizing of her outfit? Would you add more, or remove anything? And what are your thoughts on “keeping it simple”? And Grace, did I do a better job of getting some “shoe shots” in?

I have mentioned on more than one occasion that I often start my morning opening my internet browser and pulling up the following tabs (in no particular order): my personal e-mail, RemChic’s e-mail, my Facebook, RemChic’s Facebook, Hautelook, Gilt Groupe, Rue La La, Beyond the Rack, and ideeli. Yes folks, you heard right, somehow my sample sale site perusing has replaced even my morning fruit and tea on the routine list. Why? Because looking through sample sales is like starting the day with opening Christmas presents. YSL bags that were originally $2,995 on sale for $1,500. Oh, and that amazing camel colored knit cardigan by Michael Kors is somehow $25 from $150. Who needs caffeine when all the adrenaline you need is just a click away?

Anyways, I had a reader e-mail me asking for some more information on these sites, including information on their sales and invitation codes for the sales. All of these sites are by invitation-only and the sort of member-only society lends itself to a luxurious shopping experience without having to get dolled up to shove your fellow shoppers out of the way to score a good deal. Although don’t get me wrong, it’s on my bucket list to go to a New York warehouse sample sale. I just need to buff up a bit first.

I will be periodically posting what I call “Sample Sale Highlights” where I will showcase the most anticipated online sample sales, what time they will go live, and invitation codes for everyone to join! I’d love to hear about your amazing designer buys, so be sure and comment if you have any sample sale success stories!

Okay, so it only behooves you if I post the sales prior to when they go live, so make sure you mark your calendars if you are going to shop! Additionally, I won’t be listing any sample sales from brands I’m not familiar with. I have always had anover-activeimagination (fertile imagination), it probably reflects in my dreams and nightmares. I've come across many tasty items which have a skullattachedto it and for some reason I've always associated skulls with the Masonic cult rituals and the darkness, having seen skulls in so many places, I've started to feel desensitised around them. Consequently my sister and I came across a newly opened store which had many tasty leather skull embellished handbags.

thus I decided to seize theopportunityto buy these handbags, my sister brought one and I brought the other so we can swap and shareany-time. I do have a weakness for soft leather handbags and we were also fortunate on getting one of the handbags half price due to the staffweren'ttoo sure of the prices…hooray!

I took some snaps of my sister Ju Ju Hyena! and if have a closer look you can probably see the beer garden, which we made plenty of use of for The World Cup with the England flag still left standing.. It's a well known tradition in England, that No One flies and displays their national England flag, manycountriesare naturally patriotic, but not England, unless when the football World Cup arrives, flags areeverywhereto be seenhowever as soon as we are knocked out, everyone takes them down. Although I have yet to take ours down haha largely due to lethargy.

One new jewelry designer to watch is Manila-based Wynn Wynn Ong, who had changed her jewelry-making hobby into a full-time career – and definitely a successful one. The Naga jewelry line by Wynn Wynn Ong features unique and beautiful hand-crafted jewelry designs.

Wynn Wynn Ong’s latest line, the Naga collection, was named after the serpent-like creatures that are part of Buddhist iconography. The collection takes inspirational motifs from nature, such as avian brooches accented by real plumes and beautiful bejeweled neckwear inspired by ocean plankton.

Particularly interesting is Ong’s All Bark, Some Bite lineup: 12 cuffs, treated to look like bark, that feature various scenes revolving around a fictional lemon-citrine spider, named Stella. “It’s a day in the life of Stella,” says Ong, “and what she encounters as she goes up the tree.” Cuff embellishments include vermeil spider webs and gem-encrusted frogs and snakes.

The Naga collection’s prices range from $2,000 to $7,000 available at Firma in the Philippine.

In addition to jewelry, Ong designs smaller collections of bags (clutches made from nautilus shells) and housewear (salad bowls studded with semiprecious stones.

The article states that Wynn Wynn is a “new designer,” which is incorrect, as her website (nagajewelry.com) dates back to 2001. Whatever the case, her designs are absolute genius! From the concept to the finished product, each piece is decadence at it’s best.

Her “tree bark” cuffs are pure ingenuity; they are so close to the “real thing,” that I had to look very closely to determine that they are the creatively wrought as perfect sculpture. After viewing the cuffs, I ran across the ring and handbags…..I must say that I’ve never seen another handbag that even closely resembles Wynn Wynn’s masterful designs.

All in all, I’m excited about the fact that I happened upon her lush accessories and look forward to seeing more.

Christian Louboutin never disappoints, as he manages to always keep his collections “hot and fresh!” I’ve noticed that he’s adding some lower-heeled pumps with a just a touch of conservative, possibly to reach those ladies of a certain age who no longer wear stilettos. Whatever the reason, they’re sure to be a hit!

The over-the-knee boots are absolutely fierce….sure to please “vixens” and non-vixens alike. Another trend that I find appealing is the use of flannel, such as the gray espadrille booties. It’s a low maintenance fabric, and makes for a unique look. I’m also happy to see that he’s is doing more handbags…..they are absolutely luscious!

Apparently, the new Costco on 116th in New York City is now selling designer goods at a discount. The Chanel bag will run you $1,999, Burberry’s mini satchel for $1,019.99, Tod’s medium shopper handbag for $549.99 and a Ferragamo “Marissa” handbag for $629.99.
