The much anticipated sneak peek into Heath Ledger’s final work is finally here.

At the opening ceremony of this year’s Cannes Film Festival, an 18-second clip from the ‘Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus’ was played. Heath, dressed in a white costume, addressed the audience of his traveling Imaginarium.

The flick also features the late Heath Ledger, Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Firth, and is due to première at Cannes Film Festival later this year.

I’m not sure if this is Lady Gaga, but seriously, why not. Thank god we’ve got our own little Amy Winehouse here in Brooklyn. I was worried I’d have no one to talk shit about when that British crack whore finally ODs on a Heath Ledger cocktail.

Gemma Lard?!?

Gemma Lard?

Gemma Ward’s  return to the runway in February might require the use of a forklift and a heavy duty runway. The waif has recently “Black Balloon’d”. Yeah, not my best reference, I know.

No, I’m not bitter that the girl was world famous for saying “you got it dude,” becoming a multi-millionaire before her first birthday. I’m not jealous of the fact that she has an equally successful identical twin sister who aids Mary Kate in pissing off PETA. I could care less that she had a fling with our handsome departed Heath Ledger. What I do covet, however, is this girl’s immaculate roll out of bed, get dressed in the dark, pile on mismatched accessories style and how well she pulls it off.

People may poke fun at her style, saying she looks like an anorexic crack-head, but I love it. For some odd reason, the girl always looks disheveled, thrown together and homeless, but stunning, fashionable and worthy of Fashion Indie’s praise. I would like to consider Mary Kate the pioneer of the bohemian, mod-vintage look, a look that seems easy to pull off, but takes mastery that only this Olsen has. There is no denying that Mary Kate looks good in whatever she wears, with or without styled hair, rips or no rips, baggy or tight fitting. If only Mary Kate still attended NYU…I could hunt her down, grovel at her feet and ask her to teach me her ways.

Brad Pitt’s enigmatic Fight Club antihero Tyler Durden has been crowned the Greatest Movie Character of All Time. And to show how much I agree, a gallery above has been added for your viewing pleasure.

Pitt’s turn as Durden beat Star WarsDarth Vader into second place to top the poll by Empire magazine.

Third spot was taken by Heath Ledger’s The Joker in Batman movie The Dark Knight, while Star Wars’ Han Solo came fourth, and serial killer Hannibal Lecter from The Silence of the Lambs was in fifth place.

The top ten was rounded out by Indiana Jones, The Dude from The Big Lebowski, Pirates of the Caribbean’s Jack Sparrow, Ellen Ripley from the Alien movies, and The Godfather icon Vito Corleone.

Thanks again ICYDK

FiveLeaves, the nautically themed bar that is preparing to open in Greenpoint at the corner of Lorimer and Bedford. The space was designed and built by John McCormick (with silent partner Heath Ledger), the owner and designer of Moto in Williamsburg and designer of Smith and Mills in Tribeca. . The work is almost complete, so an opening could occur sometime in the next few months.

“His untimely death put the project in jeopardy,” says Down by the Hipster. “But his father became executor of the estate and because he knew how much the project meant to Heath, he released the funds to finish construction.”

So by now you know that The Dark Knight kicked some major ass at the box office, $158.3 million and counting! For those who have seen it and those who haven’t, Heath Ledger is amazing as the Joker and actually lives up to the hype. For those who aren’t comic book (or graphic novels as they are now being called) nerds like myself, here’s the history of the Joker in images.

‘The Man Who Laughs’ (1928)

Bob Kane (the creator of Batman) used still of Conrad Veidt from this silent film as the intial inspiration for the Joker. In the silent film Veidt played disrespect prince, who’s father carves a smile into his face.

The Killing Joke (1986)

In 1986 Alan Moore gave the Joker some balls back, returning him to the morose, amoral villan he was always mean’t to be. This version of the Joker would have the most impact on Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan’s versions of the Joker

Theater Named in Heath Ledgers Honor emerging fashion

Heath Ledger’s hometown of Perth, Australia announced today that they will name a theater in his honor, according to the Associated Press. The Heath Ledger Theater cost an estimated $87 million and holds 575 seats.

Western Australia state Premier Alan Carpenter stated, “Heath Ledger was totally dedicated to the craft of being an actor and that’s what made him successful. I think what we’re doing is continuing that support for young people who want to make a career in the arts and acting, stage and in film, whatever it happens to be.”

Kim Ledger, the actor’s father, called the tribute a pleasant surprise and said, “He was such a giver to the arts right across the board. I really feel that there’s not a lot of things he’d put his name to, but he’d put his name to that.”
