Asia is booming! With many designers flocking to the Far East not only for business but inspiration, why not give a knowing wink to the Orient with this look, featuring a Boudicca cape, cropped McQ jersey harem pants and of course, what Asian sensation is complete without a little Hello Kitty?

You created Hello Kitty many years ago. What made you want to create another character, Rebecca Bonbon, and what was the inspiration behind her?
I saw a French magazine on dogs and found a very cute bulldog. She reminded me of my own cat -  they actually look a lot alike. That’s how I came up with the idea for Rebecca Bonbon. Hello Kitty is all grown up and has left my care. I wanted to create a new baby.

Rebecca Bonbon is from Paris but now lives in New York City. What made her want to move here?
An American girl, a New Yorker, went to France, found Rebecca and brought her back to New York. It’s such an exciting city where you can find the world’s best culture, fashion and entertainment, so it’s the perfect place for her.

Are Rebecca Bonbon and Hello Kitty friends?
As their creator, I think of these characters as children. Because of the age difference – Hello Kitty is 36 years old and Rebecca Bonbon only 5 – they are more like sisters than anything.

An interesting take on the idea of a “luxury home”

The collection will be suitably supersized, featuring comically large  lipglosses ($19.95), blushes  ($24) and purse mirrors ($20).  James Gager, senior vice president and creative director of MAC Worldwide explains:

“Since Wonder Woman has this amazing strength, we decided that the products in the collection should be larger than anything we do; from the size of the compacts to the jumbo blush.”

Gager, however, does not seem to be fully aware of Wonder Woman’s abilities, claiming she ”uses the power of makeup to eliminate dullness and make women beautiful.”

I assume she uses those bullet-deflecting bracelets to check if she has any lipstick on her teeth.

That lipstick, by the bye, will be in Russian Red, a matte cherry color that was Madonna’s blonde ambition in the early 90s.

Wonder Woman apparently likes her eye shadow in white, pink, silver, forest green, olive-bronze and a frosty lime. Mascaras will come in black as well as shades of purple, green and blue to dazzle any evildoers. Even better, the glamazon can match her nail polish to her costume with a choice of bright red or navy blue.

Gager expects the Wonder Woman line to be more popular than MAC’s Hello Kitty and Barbie collaborations, predicting it will sell out in the first 2 weeks of its 6 week availability.

You can golden lasso one of those super compacts at MAC’s special pop-up at 109 Prince St in Manhattan on February 3rd. The store will be open thru mid-April when it become a new MAC store.

And if you’re not in New York, you can also get the limited edition line at one of the 767 locations where MAC is sold in North America (or the 757 locations globally).

So fuel up those invisible jets, ladies and pick yourself up a little Wonder.

Say hello to play-dress-up pink lips, sparkly eyes, and a Sephora bursting with girlish anime wonder. The outer palette may appeal to our frillier side, or 5-year-old nieces, but the colors have a lovely muted tinge that could make even the hello-allergic-to-kitties take a serious look.

Hello Kitty and Dr. Martens are a match made in heaven. The punk rock staple shares its conjugal bed with every 5 year old girl’s (and grown ass gay man’s) favorite pussy and I’m kind of obsessed.

The chilly winds of autumn are fast approaching and these would be the perfect say-something footwear for running through all those fallen leaves.

When people spotted Lady Gaga’s monstrous eyes in last week’s episode of Double Exposure they were almost certain those eyes were a product of some good photoshop. But Lady Gaga actually had the eyes painted on her during the shoot and did the entire thing with her eyes closed!

The new commercial for MAC’s collaboration with Hello Kitty starts off like Gwen Stefani’s “Watcha Waiting For” video and ends with a random scene that looks like a furry gang rape. So basically it’s pretty flipping cool. Enjoysies…

I don’t really know where to start on this one, because I’m not sure what Katy Perry is even wearing.

She showed up to the Brit Awards wearing 5 pounds of Hello Kitty and Members Only leggings.

Reportedly she left the show early after vomiting backstage.

M.A.C.’s new Hello Kitty collection acrtually consists of two collections—Hello Kitty Colour, and “the more high-end” Hello Kitty Kouture. MAC Cosmetics has teamed up with Sanrio Global Consumer Products to create a Hello Kitty color cosmetics collection. It will feature lipsticks, lip glosses, eye shadows, pigment, glitter, nail polish, and more in shades of pink, turquoise, lavender, and green.

The line will arrive on MAC’s Web site Feb. 10, in North American stores on Feb. 12 and into overseas stores in March.

“MAC has been mining pop culture since the brand was founded,” said John Demsey, group president of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. “This is a sexy and innocent fashion line, and a true MAC moment. In these times, everyone can use a little fun — and a little Kitty.”

When Tom Sachs first unveiled Hello Kitty Nativity, his polarizing Christmas window decoration for Barneys New York in 1994, it was clear that here was an artist who had a firm handle on the psychology of consumerism: he calmly replaced the Virgin Mary with the (equally) iconic Hello Kitty doll and, for good measure, dressed it up in Chanel and Nike.

In the ensuing years, Tom Sachs has demonstrated, time and again, this deft touch for mixing irony with a great deal of chutzpah in subverting every day popular culture. This week, Sachs shows new works in New York that should cement this reputation. Commissioned by the Lever House Art Collection, the Bronze Collection revives Sach’s love affair with Hello Kitty while indulging an apparently ongoing disregard for the Virgin Mary; his 12-piece cast-bronze ensemble displaces Damian Hirst’s Virgin Mother statue.

Completely thought I’d hate this, but it’s camp appeal can’t be denied. Hello Kitty hits the pages of Vogue Nippon this month wearing every item from John Galliano for Dior’s spring collection. The bobble headed Kitty may actually be a positive role model. She’s far from thin and exudes a style way beyond her years.

The issue follows someone in a cat suit as she travels Japan. How freaky would it had been to see woman in a cat suit heading towards you in couture?  Hurry up and make a US tour Kitty, I need a new Facebook pict and I think one with you would be keen.
