Monarchy’s Fall 2009 collection left me satiated with my munch for Equestrian inspired fashion for the season. High waisted riding trousers, plaid slacks and capes, dramatic wide collar blouses, military trenches, slim fitted suits and leather bombers were just some of the classic pieces, with an evident twist, included on the runway. Combine the classic, preppy English elements of Ralph Lauren and the crisp, tailored cuts of Rag & Bone and voila, you’ve got the essentials of Monarchy fall 2009. But despite my appreciation for the revival of the British duds, I was a bit disappointed to find that all accessories, from riding boots to leather gloves, were not Monarchy originals. Major credit goes to Muehlbauer , Victor Osborne, Dover Saddlery, Anna Herrington and several others for the accessories that made the Monarchy looks successful.
