RANDOM COOL: Herve Leger Geometric Clutch all indie

I can no longer say that I despise all designs by Herve Leger, because these boxy, geometric clutch purses are absolutely incredible! They might be a bit awkward to carry around, but rocking out one of these giant gems (especially in the lime green!) is bound to turn some heads! $600 is a little drastic for these purses, but it’s Herve Leger…what else did we expect?

MOMENT OF STYLE: Halle Berry all indie

Halle Berry wowed at the screening of X-Men Origins: Wolverine on Tuesday night at the Gruman’s Manns Chinese Theater in Hollywood, wearing a tight (Herve Leger inspired) peek-a-boo dress. The 42 year old actress does not look a day over 30, and my constent jealousy of her beauty drives me insane.

This rough cut documentary gets up-close and personal with Lubov Azria, Max’s wife, as she heads to New York to prepare for three major fashion shows: BCBG, Max Azria and Herve Leger.

She discusses the importance of celebrities wearing their clothes and delves into the major differences between the three brands. It’s interesting to see how six months of work culminates in ten minutes on a runway.

I sort of deliberated over this one for a while.

Kristen Stewart attended the premiere of “Adventureland” in Los Angeles Monday night in Herve Leger by Max Azria.

At first look I thought the stripes were was too busy on Kristen’s fair skin. But I kept thinking about the minidress’ pairing with simple black pumps, and decided it works after all.

With simple makeup and messy up-do, the dress has a kind of cleaned-up punk feel on Kristen, and is very Gwen Stefani.

BEHIND THE BEAUTY: Hervé Léger all indie

NARS Cosmetics was backstage creating the makeup look for Hervé Léger’s Autumn/Winter 2009 show. With lead artist Diane Kendal, who drew inspiration from Helmut Newton photographs using the concept of a brave warrior – strong and fierce, she created the ’strong brow and dewy skin’ look using earth tones and shades of deep ebony. “The collection is very hard and sculpted so we wanted to keep the skin neutral and show strength through the eyebrows. We created very fresh, dewy skin by using the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation. It really allowed the skin’s natural highlights to shine through,” said Diane.

Below is a step-by-step to recreate the look provided by NARS:

Face

· Use NARSskin Hydrating Moisture Cream to moisturize

· Apply NARS Concealer as needed, to cover any imperfections

· Use a minimal amount of NARS Sheer Glow Foundation (NEW for Fall 2009) to even skin tone

Eyes:

· Brush brows to define natural shape

· With NARS Single Eyeshadow in Bali, fill in brows

· Brush again for even, natural look

· Apply gentle dusting of NARS Single Eyeshadow in Sophia to entire lid, blending up towards brows for natural shading

· Curl lashes with NARS Eyelash Curler

Lips:

· Apply NARS Lip Therapy Treatment in Rain to entire lip

· Use NARS Concealer over Rain to mute color

6119 Ilana Sunderland Fall 2009

6119 Ilana Sunderland Fall 2009 emerging fashionIlana Sunderland would make a phenomenal architect. With her aesthetic focusing on structure, hard edges and straight lines, Sunderland, a mere second season designer, certainly gives Herve Leger a run for his money. Despite my applause for her structural symmetry and complexity, her color choice failed to impress. In combination with the strict structure, colors like espresso, midnight, onyx and ruby gave the garments a little over-the-hill/ funeral vibe. Such a shame…Sunderland’s spring color choice was amazing! Constructed for the tall and thin ladies of the world, 6119 isn’t exactly ready to wear. But let me tell you, if I were a boy, I’d be all over that  wool, crepe hooded, single-breasted suit! Better yet, Sunderland should make suits for the ladies!

It’s clearly already the year of Kate Winslet. The non-movie-star movie star hits the cover of InStyle’s February 2009 issue in blue Hervé Léger, and looks super pretty inside.

Probably airbrushing aside, she truly gets better with age.

The Bashed: Jenna Dewan all indie

The Golden Globe Awards, aka my favorite time to barf on everyone’s fashion parade. Jenna Dewan did an exceptionally nice job of giving me material to bash. Not only is the Herve Leger bandage dress so over-worn it makes me want to pull my own teeth, but it was not designed for chickens. I could snap poor Dewan in half over my knee. She needs to come over to my house and eat a nice Greek meal so she can fill out that dress like a woman instead of a 1st grader who was injured during a gym class dodgeball tournament. And the color? Bitch please. This is the perfect look for a burnt-out South Beach cougar.

Thanks Fabulousness

I’m Over It: Hervé Léger Bandage Dresses

Im Over It: Hervé Léger Bandage Dresses emerging fashionIm Over It: Hervé Léger Bandage Dresses emerging fashionThe minute Max Azria, fashion designer and founder of BCBG, decided to reinvent the Hervé Léger bandage dress, he gave women everywhere the biggest excuse to hide their flaws and still look like a goddess. It didn’t matter if you had love handles, a little chub around the middle or saggy boobs, the Hervé Léger bandage dress could suck you in, prop you up and give you that perfect figure. Now, I’m not saying that women with a little extra meat on their bones shouldn’t look slim and stunning when they go out, I’m just saying that the Hervé Léger bandage dress is everywhere, and it has to go. I am so sick of seeing these bands of fabric wrapped around women, sucking in every last bit, until they look like the sickly 2006 version of Lindsay Lohan. And to make matters worse, it is annoying to see women with knockout bodies and amazing style (aka Victoria Beckham) wear something so common and completely not necessary for their body type. Please ladies, save the bandages for the boo boos or the Spring 2009 mummy trend.
