Karlie Kloss won’t be making any appearances on the runways during New York Fashion Week this season because “an engagement has come up.” This alleged engagement means a loss of thousands upon thousands of dollars for the super-in-training so whatever reason it is, it must be something good. And having no facts or clues on which to base supposition, we’ve come up with five conspiracy theories regarding her possible whereabouts.

Having paged through my fair share of Vogues since acquiring my first issue some ten years ago, I’ve picked up a trick or two. There are certain poses models always do – poses that are “classic Vogue.” So to master these is to get one horse-like step closer to those hallowed, glossy editorial pages.

Hilary Rhoda can never do wrong in my book, and she looks remarkable in her spread for Numéro Tokyo‘s January/February 2012 issue. Photographed by Alexi Lubomirski, Rhoda explores the city at night in a colorful wardrobe styled by Charles Varenne. Huge hair, big brows and a bold red lip round out the look, making this just as much a beauty spread as it is fashion. Click for the gallery.

Karlie Kloss, Zac Posen, Hilary Rhoda, Jeremy Scott, Rebecca Minkoff and a flock of fashionable friends joined professional poser Coco Rocha and Victoria’s Secret Angel Behati Prinsloo at Milk Gallery last night to commemorate the premiere of the documentary, Letters to Haiti. Directed by Coco’s husband, James Conran, the film chronicles their recent trip to Haiti and explores how children on the island nation are coping in the aftermath of last year’s devastating earthquake. In addition to the film, Behati’s portraits from the trip were on exhibit and guests were invited to bid on them to benefit the charity LakayPAM.

With mountains, lakes and fields as the backdrop for its November 2011 ad campaign, H&M makes the outdoors look utterly unhurried. Hilary Rhoda, Julia Stegner, Ieva Laguna and Tom James are outfitted in chunky sweaters, puffy coats and cold weather accessories by Sofia Ericsson for Asa Tallgard‘s lens. See the campaign after the jump.

Olivier Theyskens is one of the most singular designers in fashion today. His clothes are brooding, dramatic, poetic and above all beautiful, much like the designer himself. Shortly after dropping out of Belgium’s La Cambre Art Academy, one of his gowns ended up on Madonna‘s mannish back at the 1998 Oscars, thus propelling him to stardom. Documenting Theyskens road from precocious art star to his four seasons at Rochas and finally his brilliant but short-lived tenure at Nina Ricci was photographer Julien Claessens, whose haunting photos add another dimension to Theyskens sartorial creations and form the backbone for The Other Side of the Picture (Assouline, 2010).

The 90s began with the biggest names in the business and then they were all but wiped out when 15 year old Kate Moss slouched onto the scene. Like Twiggy, Jean Shrimpton and Penelope Tree (who bears a striking resemblance to Kate) before her, Kate ushered in a new body image for women to aspire to. That image was the definitive shape for the past two decades and only now are we seeing curves reappear on the runway and in advertising. We’re parking this model mobile in the here and now!

A charming and carefree Hilary Rhoda poses for Alan Gelati‘s camera in the January 2011 issue of Harper’s Bazaar Russia. Who knew that leather thigh high boots would go so well with a patchwork mini dress and top hat?

If I could fill my closet with one pre-fall 2011 collection this year, it would be Zac Posen‘s. Made for a young and sexy city girl, the feminine tailoring of this line will make you feel modern and confident with a sense of humor.
