• Store: TopShop/Topman
• Location: Soho
• Why it’s easy to steal : All the employees think they are to hip to do their actual job. They are all wannabe models,stylists,photographers blah blah blah. Why would they be worried with you taking an overpriced bracelet when they are worried about their image?
• How to get away with it: Walk in. Take what you want. Walk out.

• Store: Forever 21
• Location: Times Square
• Why it’s easy to steal: This place is so huge that it might as well be it’s own state. Seriously so much product means so much more cheap stuff to steal without anyone being the wiser.
• How to get away with it: It is all about diversion. Yes it is full with lackadaisical employees as every retail location in the world but they seemed pretty strong staffed. For example start a riot by saying something such as “OMG it’s the Jonas brothers!” All the girls will start to bum rush whichever section you point at and then you can abscond with whatever clothes that you really know you could have just paid for.

• Store: Century 21
• Location: Lower Manhattan
• Why it’s easy to steal: The place is crawling with tourists from all over the world that the staff and New Yorkers are overwhelmed to be in their for over 10 minutes.
• How to get away with it: Pretend you are a tourist from a country that no one has ever heard of. Try to steal the old fashioned way (which shouldn’t be hard) and if you’re caught just jabber in a make believe language until the person who caught you just let’s you go with the stuff.

• Store: Quiksilver
  
• Location: Times Square
  
• Why it’s easy to steal: Let’s be honest you kind of have to be stoned out of your mind to work here. As a ex employee I can say I wish I was that smart to do so. The store’s average customers are 6 foot 5 tourists and surfers who are great to hide behind.
• How to get away with it: Use Jedi mind tricks. Take whatever you need by hiding behind the previously mentioned giant customers and escape attention by walking around like a surfer who hass hit his head a few too many times.

• Store: Hollister
• Location: Soho
  
• Why it’s easy to steal: The place is usually swamped with people. The store is also extremely dark for no reason and has terrible music blasting. (All aiders to boosting)
• How to get away with it: Grab all their decent clothing they have (which might be hard to tell in the dark) and leave through the front door while everyone is ogling the shirtless male models outside. The bed bugs got in undetected so you can too.

The moral of the story is the NYC shops are not safe especially not after this article. Take our tips and shoplift till you drop. (Or get arrested)

About as "ethnically diverse" as Abercrombie wants to get

I guess you can add Muslim to the “Not Welcome Here” members on Abercrombie‘s no hire list. The retailer has recently been sued by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for refusing to hire a woman because of her Muslim headscarf.

This is the second time the retailers been sued for this exact reason. The first time was in June 2008 when a Muslim teenager was told her hijab violated Abercrombie’s “You Don’t Look Like Me, So I Hate You Policy” “Look Policy”.

WWD Reports:

In the lawsuit, the EEOC alleged that during an interview with an 18-year-old woman who applied for a job stocking merchandise in a California abercrombie kids store, the store manager asked the applicant if she was Muslim and was required to wear a head scarf. The woman was wearing a head scarf during the interview, according to the EEOC. The complaint alleged that the manager wrote “not Abercrombie look” on the woman’s application. The alleged incident took place at a store in the Great Mall in Milpitas, Calif.

Let’s also mention the fact that in February 2010, a 19-year-old was fired from Hollister (also owned by Abercrombie) for wearing a headscarf to work, even though it was in compliance with the store’s “Look Policy” which required her to wear “either a white, navy or gray-colored scarf.”

Also, keep in mind that Abercrombie has already paid $40 million to black, Hispanic and Asian employees in a discrimination case which claimed the company promoted white boys and girls at the expense of minorities.

Abercrombie has claimed that they make every possible effort to provide equal employment opportunities to people regardless of race or religion, but their track record on this matter doesn’t look like it’s going to help them much this time and considering they plan on closing 60 stores in the US to focus on expanding internationally, it might be time for them to reconsider their hiring strategy and begin embracing a little ethnicity…

The four story flagship store is known for hiring models and having them stand around the store scantily clad to help market the brand. The first report of bedbug bites in the store was three weeks ago by and employee and a manager, but that was ignored. On Tuesday the 29th, an employee found that she had been bitten, and also found a live bedbug and an exoskeleton on her borrowed Hollister outfit. All of the employees were forced to continue working even though more and more bugs were being discovered.  Multiple employees were covered in bites. Hollister was more concerned about losing money than the health and safety of their hundreds of employees and thousands of customers. If they were concerned in the least, the store would have been shut down the moment the first bugs were discovered. Just today they closed the store down, but who knows how many employees and customers were exposed to the outbreak in the past three weeks, only jeopardizing the rest if the stores in the area as bedbugs spread like wildfire.  Bedbugs only feed at night, and if you’ve ever been inside Hollister, you know that it is almost completely dark. I’m sure you can imagine the store has become a bedbug breeding ground since it was first exposed. Go Hollister!

I’ve never been a fan of the brand therefore I have never been in the store. The only times I have even passed the behemoth of the store is to go down Broadway to a more respectable shop and just to get a quick glimpse of the models. (Just being honest.) Hollister obviously lacks integrity and apparently cleanliness and respect for thier employees.

After three quarters of double-digit (millions, that is) sales declines, Abercrombie and Fitch has finally decided to cut their prices within their store family (Abercrombie & Fitch, abercrombie kids, Hollister, Ruehl).  As NY Mag cleverly put it, they’re going to take this as a sign to focus on their strenghts: sexy 20-year-olds who enjoy riding horses naked through the woods. CEO Michael Jeffries stated:

“We are young. We are sexy. We are controversial at times. That’s what we know how to do and that’s the business that we own here and are comfortable that we can around the world.”

So expect to see more shirtless employees, more naked pictures, and more of what you know makes Abercrombie, Abercrombie.  

 

Maybe if they didn’t hire 90 employees to work at every store and slowly phase them out after a few weeks once they’ve dried out their 30% discount they might save a little? (I’m only saying this from personal experience as a previous abercrombie kids employee…insert laughter here…)

Okay, so this isn’t totally true.  Those of you who attended the Hollister grand opening probably noticed a few more Hollistites than you would normally see in NYC, and you were right.  Hollister didn’t exactly hire ‘fake’ customers to stand outside and walk around their store all day, they just decided to fly in employees from other stores to help ‘support’ the opening of their new SoHo store…totally different…

Sure, the first billboard was a racy, but that’s Calvin Klein for you and we all know that sex sells. To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if people argue that the new bikini billboard is giving the wrong image about female body-types. Whichever way you look at it, there is always going to be someone who disapproves. 

As I digress, here’s what I have to say to those right-winged complainers, responsible for making E. Houston LAME: Your daughter has done much worse.

Zac Efron went back to his douche bag ways last night by going back to the Hollister haircut. I don’t know who continues to tell him to do this because it doesn’t look good. As much as I hate him, his hair actually looked good before (despite the fact that he was biting my style).

The fashion world has always been an industry that craves extremes, which is why I think I hate this haircut so much. To me this represents everything that is mediocracy. You have to be cool so you grow your hair out but your too big a pusy to go all out, so you settle for this glorified bowl cut? I am a big fan of long hair, in fact I have had long hair, but this is not long nor acceptable in my book. This “inbetween” length of hair is actually great, because it allows for so many options and styles that can be used. Unfortunately so many have fallen victim to this ugly hair tragedy, so many that this is bordering on “How To Look Middle American.” I will say it now, If I count 35 kids with this exact haircut between now and Friday, expect a follow up story! (and no I won’t cheat by going to a shitty strip mall in Jersey and count all the douche bags at Hollister and Abercrombie).
