Another great collection from Hollywood Trading Company, this time it’s with graphic designer Thomas Mastorakos. Thomas took a second to share his inspirations for the t’s below.

My almost 2 year old son Nico still inspires and makes me incredibly happy.

book of his work published by Steidl and it is amazing.

Also I just picked up an out of print book on Graham Ovenden, An

English artist whose photography, painting and illustration of young
girls is psychological, magical and captivating.

Books of Illustration by Akira Uno and David Hockney
have been close to my desk as well.

The prospect of Barack Obama taking the white house is very exciting,
if for no other reason than seeing an underdog take out entrenched
politicians who seem to feel entitled to the office of president.

Lastly the Lakers. It’s going to be-hopefully, a great playoff run and

if things go well, I’ll be thrilled to see the Lakers and Celtics meet

in the finals.

TrendSpark: Wear and Tear

I am quickly becoming obsessed with looking like a bum. Seriously, it’s like some weird fashion turn-on when I see people dressed in designers labels that look distressed or carrying an iconic handbag that’s been destroyed with wear. I sense that “instant vintage” is becoming a newish trend and that more and more mainstream designers will pick up the look that indies like 3:33 Footwear have made a must have.

One spot that seems to feel in agreement to the trend is Hollywood Trading Company, a little shop out of California that has an amazing selection of vintage feeling work boots. Of course, if you can’t find a designer willing to destroy their goods for you, there’s always Beacons Closet or Buffalo Exchange, where you will find a great selection of pre-worn boots and footwear at rock bottom prices.
