Remember to ALWAYS wear sunscreen when you’re soaking up the rays outdoors. Now that’s out out of the way, so let’s get to coloring.

Honey – Although quite sticky, honey is a great way to add a glowing sheen to your hair. You can either apply it directly to your mane or mix it with lemon juice and water in a spray bottle. Spend at least an hour in the sun then rinse out that sticky, sweet goodness. You will be left with hair that’s not only naturally highlighted, but it will look and feel healthier as well.

Lemon - Best for blond and red hair, lemon juice is probably the most well-known way of lightening hair. Use one part fresh squeezed lemon juice to two parts water. You can start by adding two tablespoons of juice to six tablespoons of water and add more depending on the length of your hair. Run the mixture through dry hair and hit those gorgeous summer rays. Repeat for several days until you see results.

Black coffee or tea -  This method may darken your locks instead of lightning depending on the color of your red or brown hair, so make sure to test on a small piece before covering your entire head. Wait for a brewed cup of coffee or black tea to cool before rinsing your hair with it. Repeat for a few days if necessary. If you have blond hair, chamomile tea will work the same way.

Rhubarb root - The rhubarb plant can add a honey-hinted glow to blonde or light brown hair. Simmer the root in four cups of water for an hour and strain through a sieve. After washing and conditioning your hair, apply the strained liquid to your locks. Let your hair dry in the sun and watch the rhubarb-induced highlights appear.

Olive oil – Not only will olive oil deep condition and help repair damaged hair, but it can also provide natural highlights when used correctly. Comb a generous amount through your hair and let the sun do its job for a few hours. Make sure to rinse your head thoroughly, as oil can be a stubborn element to remove. Repeat the process for a few days until you see results.

Henna - An excellent way for brunettes to get that desirable reddish tint, henna is also extremely friendly because it moisturizes and deep conditions hair. You can purchase henna color at most beauty supply stores and online. Each brand will have its own instructions, but typically henna powder is mixed with boiling water to form a paste. Spread it on your mane and voila! You have natural, semi-permanent color for about eight weeks.

This Boutique Critique is about the amazing designer vintage store, 1 Of A Find.  Curator and self-professed shopaholic Honey Moon goes on buying trips all over the world seeking out beautiful, unique, impossible-to-get-your-hands-on Hermes, Chanel, Gucci, Lacroix, and Lanvin to satisfy her international clientele.  She used me as a Barbie doll and transported me into worlds I only dream of.  Best part? This gown was to DIE for.  It caught my eye immediately as a dress made for the 1950′s movies I play out in my head. When Anna Wintour extends me a VIP invitation to the Met Gala, I will surely be sporting something like this on the red carpet.

Oh-la-Lanvin!  This split front evening skirt with matching metallic sandals took my breath away.  I channeled Carrie Bradshaw and paired it with a Levi’s jean jacket and a fun net hat (something so Kate Middleton right now) to mix it up.

The perfect summer maxi — the sheer chiffon made it cool in the heat while making a major fashion statement with its bold prints.  Paired with Dior booties, a Gucci bag, and a summer straw hat, I was loving this luxe warm weather look.

You can’t do Brooklyn vintage without channeling a little inner hipster.  These Dior shoes (with the angelic sweet bows), vintage Levi’s and amazing seuqin blouse kept the look casual but party ready.  A python bag and flat brimmed hat made me look MUCH cooler than I am.

What screams glamour like a metallic jumpsuit?  Nothing.  What screams glamour-queen? Pairing it with these futuristic shades, a geometric statement necklace, and lace up leather booties. Retro chic and ultra fierce.

The Mod Squad would have adopted me in a heartbeat in this Montaldo Op Art dress.  I fell in love with the digital print, it was so eye catching and well, trippy.  Bubbled sleeves and a high neck are hard to pull off without looking like Julie Andrews, but this psychedelic wonderland of a dress with slim cuts made it utterly chic.  I fell in love with the leather wedges and actually scooped them up for myself (sorry shoppers!).

I never thought I could pull off a Blair Waldorf headband until I found this gem of a velvet headband.  So sweet and a little schoolgirl, it matched perfectly with this lace dress from the 60′s. The chunky heeled shoes kept the look 100% vintage, and the hand painted wooden purse kept a touch of fantasy in the mix.

Natalie DiStefano, who specializes in makeup, has offered up a trick to looking moisturized with just the perfect amount of foundation. But first things first, you need to apply your eye makeup first! Ever notice those little specks of eye shadow that fall on your face and ruin the foundation? This is the best way to avoid that. Do the shadow first and the foundation after. And always make sure that your face is good and moisturized before you throw that foundation on.

If you’re a blond, be sure to heighten that color in the middle of the winter. Making the hair blonder in these cold dark months is essential, says John Whelan, colorist. The same goes for the red heads, “this is not a hair color for the faint of heart,” he says. As for the brunettes out there, try out some highlights. Nothing too crazy, but soft ones can really do the trick.

Arsi Tavitian, an Aesthetician, gives us some at home remedies to keep our skin looking healthy. Chamomile tea bags, parsley, honey and egg yolks all make the list of concoctions for various at-home creations!

With a number of celebrities vying for a spot as judge on the next season of “American Idol” it seems only right that Nick Cannon would endorse his wife, singer Mariah Carey, for the position. In an interview with MTV News Cannon revealed that he’s all for starting an “Idol” campaign for his wife. “I don’t know if she has enough time, though, but if they could work with her schedule, I know she would love to do ‘Idol,’” Cannon explained to MTV. “Let’s start the campaign!” Cannon, who currently serves as the host of “America’s Got Talent,” also spoke on how Simon Cowell leaving “Idol” will change the dynamics of the show. “Simon Cowell was the anchor of the show. And when he stepped out, it’s like, now what? But as long as Ryan Seacrest and Randy Jackson stick around, I’m watching,” said Cannon.

A new photo spread in Vogue Italia has a lot of people scratching their heads unsure of whether the spread is bold or just insensitive. The spread, which takes its cue from the oil spill in The Gulf and is titled “Water & Oil,” features various pictures of a model with a feathered dress on and oil on her body. “The message is to be careful about nature,” Franca Sozzani, the Editor-In-Chief of Vogue Italia, explained to the Associated Press. “Just to take care more about nature. … I understand that it could be shocking to see and to look in this way these images.”

Disney does right by urban dance, especially in the third installment of the popular Step Up franchise. The high-energy, visually stunning Step Up 3D flaunts elaborately choreographed routines that burst off the screen.

Filmed entirely in New York, Step Up 3D follows a tight-knit group of street dancers, led by Luke (Rick Malambri) and Natalie (Sharni Vinson). Both recruit NYU freshman Moose (Adam Sevani) to help them beat the world’s best Hip-Hop dancers in a high-stakes showdown. The movie features a host of TV dance competition alumni, including ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ season four winner Joshua Allen, and his cast mate and fan favorite, Stephen “tWitch” Boss. “It’s great to have that energy back because we still all go so hard. It’s great to see the growth,” said tWitch of being reunited with so many SYTYCD friends.

Shooting a film in 3D format is incredibly tedious, and the addition of intricate dance choreography results in Rubik’s cube-complex film production. Director Jon M. Chu revealed that the film was pieced together meticulously, to maximize impact while avoiding visual overload. “We definitely had to re-shoot some scenes because they would have made the audience throw up.” he states. Chu, who also directed Step Up 2: The Streets, chose to stick with the street dance vibe of the second movie because of the character development potential. “Part of our language in Step Up 3D, and even in Step Up 2, is Hip-Hop dancing, krumping and breaking. Because of the dancers I met in that film, I already knew which characters I wanted to show off, along with their styles. Everyone had a unique dialect.”

Chu’s choice paid off. The plot line of the latest film showcases consecutive battle scenes that employ props and elements like bubbles (yes, bubbles), dust, water and lights. It’s as if each scene is in competition with the next.

Special effects aside, because it’s a Disney movie, Step Up 3D definitely has its cliché moments.

We’ve got to say this, though: despite the occasional corniness, the movie is definitely real in its diversity. The choice to honestly reflect the global melting pot that is the dance community, instead of giving the cast the standard, big-budget, Hollywood white-washing, should be commended.

Actor Keith Stallworth, who plays Jacob in the film, believes that dance levels the playing field because the focus is on talent, not politics. “I think the rest of Hollywood needs to follow suit. Look at what we’re doing in the dance community. The reason why that happens is because with dancing, it’s very hard to ‘fake it ‘til you make it’. In this town and with dancing in general, it’s just very competitive. That opens the door for more diversity, I think.”

With dance films and television shows steadily gaining momentum, the Step Up 3D actors are excited that dance is returning to its rightful place in the media spotlight. “This is what it was like back in the 30s and 40s, when Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire were major stars. We’ve been hoping to have a resurgence.” explained actor/dancer Harry Shum Jr. Leading man Rick Malambri weighed in as well: “With ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, ‘Dancing With the Stars’ and ‘America’s Best Dance Crew”, there are all these shows that are using musicality and dance, and I think that we’re really bringing it back.”

With the attention focused on the 3D aspect of the film, the cast hopes its potential worldwide success will inspire the educational system to take notice and fight harder to maintain and resurrect (the almost extinct) fine arts curricula in public schools. “That’s what this movie does… it showcases that people need the arts,” said an excited Harry Shum Jr.

You may know him as a hypnotic performer who rocks the crowd as well as he rocks the mic. Solo and with hip-hop trio Tanya Morgan. But did you know that he’s a love doctor too? In his debut column for the Swarm, the Cincinnati born expounds on love, lust and the power of the… We’ll leave it to you ladies to finish that sentence. A well-done fling is, indeed, a beautiful thing… when done safely and in context, that is. And while it is largely believed to be a man’s thing to do, I think we need to reevaluate that just a bit. The real decision maker in this equation is the woman’s desire.

By no means am I an expert on the subject; while I have had my trysts they have been very few and far between. Besides, I’m not the ‘hollering at chicks’ kinda dude, I’m more deliberate in my advances, but that’s a whole other topic.

For the most part it’s universally understood that women control sex. ‘Game’ doesn’t really work because, for the most part, a woman knows if and when she will give you a shot. Chances are the game we think we are firing off is actually the equivalent of white noise to a woman who already has her mind made up. We can also say that if either party forces themselves upon the other then that’s rape, right? Well in considering this, it must also be considered that we don’t hear of too many men being raped by women. Don’t hold your breath waiting for some guy to cry foul if gang raped by a carload of sauced up gals. That guy will, however, call his homeboys and tell them what an awesome night he had.

I wrote a song about exploring the emotional state that goes into having a one-night stand. Basically, it speaks on the level of confusion that the parties involved may be feeling when they go about doing the deed. A lot of times it’s less about sexual fulfillment and more about having an instant bond with another person. I like to call it the 5-minute relationship. You go from strangers to dating in a few sentences, at drawl-dropping speeds all in hopes of feeling connected to a person for a few hours.

Sex has roots in just wanting a familiar feeling and that’s why most times two people don’t have sex until they are familiar. The funny thing about sexual fulfillment is that It can’t really be achieved unless you know a person in totality, and these instant relationships don’t provide the opportunity to really get to know a person. Sure, you can have an orgasm. But at the end of the day that isn’t really fulfillment, that’s just busting a nut.

Love is a very tricky thing. It’s a feeling that is definitely tangible but comes in many forms. For the purpose of this column, let’s just say that it’s a drug. And if Love is a drug, then a lot of times when you are out of love, you’re just looking for that next high. Following this line of reasoning, waking up the next day to that walk of shame is the equivalent of the high coming down. But when the high is on, there’s nothing like it…

The September issues isn’t just important for women magazine when it comes to knowing who’s on the cover. It’s just as important for men’s magazines. Especially in this case, Ryan Reynolds was schedule to grace the cover of GQ for September. But now there’s talks that he might be bumped and LeBron James will be the cover boy.  Sources are saying the cover shoot has been in the works for weeks but no one is confirming just yet!

However, A Reynolds cover would have helped him promote his new movie “Buried”, which will debut in October.
