href="http://www.freeyourmane.com/"> Free Your Mane (which on a scale of one to ten is a total eleven) is made with the specialty of Boabab oil and all the products are made free of mineral oil, petrolatum, sulfate, phthalates and paraben, so your health is never sacrificed for beauty’s sake. On a plus side, Baobab Oil is from none other than Africa, which delivers up to eight times its weight in moisture, and anti-oxidant rich Pomegranate Seed Oil. After getting the opportunity to try out these products on my ridiculously curly hair I used the Hydrating Hair Masque ($20), Reviving Spray ($15), Sulfate Free Shampoo ($16), and the Conditioning Pomade ($16) and finished my straight look with the Baobab restorative oil ($25). Check out my before and after looks after the jump!

<span

There are plenty of ways to put your hair up without such a boring bit of elastic tying you down. They’ve been stifling wrist circulation since its invention and it’s high time to put a stop to this humdrum hair-don’t. Time to create a cooler coiffure, sans scünci. Here are some alternatives. <span

Smooth out hair and wrap scarf 2-3 times at base for support. Tie into a bow, pulling the loops as far as they will go (without the loose ends slipping through, becoming a knot). Take a side from each bow arch and tie them into another bow. Expand the loops as wide as they go, and there you go.

<a

You don’t want to look hairless.

<a

Bring the two corners forward and wrap them around so they tie in the back. Here’s the key: bring the middle point of the triangle over to one side and tie it in the same knot as the other two ends. Make a bow, or knot and tuck the ends.

<a

I like doing it at a slight angle with the elastic in front, but place it to taste.

<a

At the base of the braid, wrap each end of the scarf twice then tie the ends in a knot.

<a

You might freak out. You might be too chilled out to let the gravity of the situation occur to you. But either way, it’s there. And it needs to go.

Just like our Mother Monster, I am my hair. It’s all the glory that I bear. Well, as I slept in a tent and rolled around in dirt for days on end at Bonnaroo, my hair and I both became one dirty hippie. My battle plan for my hair was avoidance; I wrapped it in headscarves, hats and the likes as I determinedly kept it from touching any skin at all. Inevitably, it molded itself into a giant matted dread in the back of my head. Enter famed master hair stylist Peter Butler, or rather I entered the Garnier Fructis Tent on Sunday of Bonnaroo, for a deep conditioning hair washing.

Curious how to properly remove an accidental dreadlock? Find out here from the professional.

Wow! Pure glory. That was the most ecstatic hair washing of my life. And the most drastic difference from before to after. Not so dreadful anymore.

Recognize the man behind the hair? Peter Butler is not only in the commercial for Garneir, but also a consultant on Project Runway. Last I saw, he was styling Cindy Crawford’s hair. So, many thanks to Peter for even touching my Bonnaroo hair.

His Garnier recipe for Detanglement: Brilliantine Shine Glossing Spray & Nutrient Spray Dual Action Nourish + Shine

Check back soon to see the products Butler used and how he styled my summer curls after the cleansing.

Side note: Dreadlocks can look sexy and incredibly chic on the right person. It takes dedication and upkeep, and they can be very beautiful. But perhaps not when acquired by accident.

Janelle Monáe Hairdo How To

BEAUTY

GIRLS

PLAYLIST

TRENDSPARK

beehive

big boi

fashionindie TV

hair how to

how to

how to get janelle monae hair

How to video

Illamasqua

illamasqua atomic

illamasqua bedaub

illamasqua gamma

illamasqua radium

illamasqua toxic

janelle monae

Janelle Monáe Hair

janelle monae music

janelle monae tightrope

janelle monaie

new artist

New Music

outkast

The ArchAndroid

tightrope

toxic

toxic collection
<guid

I can’t see inside your closets, but I can show how to add a little glitz to your face. I’ve been rocking glitter eyebrows for years – it’s the perfect remedy if you’re a little bored and need to dazzle. A good quality, super cheap brush will do just fine, like the <a

I’ve been wrapping my cashmere scarf ’round my head all fall and winter long like this. Based originally out of necessity to shelter my ears from the cold, and the terrible noise I was subjected to at Death By Audio in Williamsburg on Halloween the night of my turban epiphany, I grew to adore its versatility and insta-chic effect. Now with Spring so close, I’m adapting my personal turban-tying method to lighter materials: silk, chiffon and the traditional cotton. Watch my instructional video for a way to turn just about any scarf into a fabulous turban. Then check the authentic Indian, African and other international lessons on how to master the real shebang.

FashionIndie Technique – Quite possibly the simplest way to tie a chic turban:

Wrapping your head from the back also allows you to contain your hair entirely within the turban. Tie or pin back a bun ever so loosely so it’s easy to flatten, and let the fabric cup the hair.

Indian Sikh (male) - the most basic traditionally male method:

Though this is a masculine turban, it can also look fabulous on a woman. The trick seems to be wrapping diagonally to perfect that starburst in the center front.

Indian Sikh (female) – seemingly the most time and fabric intensive feminine method:

White turbans like this often note a higher rank in society. Perhaps that’s why they’ve made it so particularly difficult to achieve.

Indian Rajasthani – less complicated, more colorful method:

How to tie a Turban from Morgan's Ride on Vimeo.

This may be less particular about the folding, but you might need a buddy to get you started.

African Aso Oke – stunning damask, cross and tie method:

Easy to achieve statement piece that looks like a budding rose.

Jamaican Rasta Wrap - the best method to wrap up dreadlocks:

So, our instructor might not be authentically Jamaican, but by the length of his dreads, he seems highly dedicated. Perhaps an old Rasta Man taught him how to tie this proper turban.

Will you be trying a turban this coming Spring? It’ll keep your head fresh and cool if you do it right.

Photo from <a

There are some shortcutters out there who wear the fake hair braided headband, like Xtina Aguilera, but they are simply not as chic as the real deal. Get the look like Ashley Olsen, Emanuel Ungaro Spring 2011, Rachel Roy Fall 2011 and so many others, and follow my instructional video to hair mastery. I tried it out this morning for the first time and it was a success! It’s super easy and looks fab.

How to get the look:

Start with wet hair. Apply a smoothing serum like Warren Tricomi Hair Polish to keep it sleek. Brush hair to one side and pull it ear level. Begin braiding while pulling outward and forward, then guide the braid upward. Pull the plait over your head keeping it aligned to the tops of your ears. Using complementing bobby pins, pin it in place at the end of the braid and eliminate the need for a hair tie.

Wear it like Ashley Olsen with a loose Cali vibe by leaving it wispy, or slick it back with pomade or hairspray for the super tight Ungaro look.
<div
