<p>There isn&#8217;t much that shocks me anymore. So when I lived in New York for the first time in summer 2007, it came as no surprise that most of the higher prices didn&#8217;t phase me. I knew that rent, food and alcohol was slightly more expensive anyway, so I took the high road and maxxed-out my credit cards to party on. There were two things, however, that did freak me the fuck out when I saw the price tags.</p>
<div>Movies are expensive as it is in Ohio. No thank you to paying $8 for a film I will probably hate anyway. My first movie in New York was <span style="font-style: italic;">Ocean&#8217;s 13</span> at that really cool theater downtown that overlooks the city. We arrived at the box office, and my friend asked for two tickets. &#8220;Eleven dollars each,&#8221; said the employee. I almost had a heart attack, and I&#8217;m sure my gaping mouth somewhat embarrassed my friends. I got over it quickly when I realized you could see much better films in The City than in Canton, OH.</div>
<div></div>
<div></div>
<div>Ah shopping. It doesn&#8217;t really get any better than in New York. A whole world of unique designers is right at your fingertips. I have been a vintage shopper since 8th grade, and I guarantee you I have supreme digging capabilities. In suburbia, vintage shopping is easy because people don&#8217;t realize the value of their old and moldy bullshit. And I have found some damn good deals in my day- a vintage Fendi bag, a purple Members Only jacket and brand new Doc Marten boots are some of the awesome things I&#8217;ve found in the past three years. So what&#8217;s the big deal, because you can find that stuff in NYC too? Each piece was under $30. The SAME pair of Doc Marten in much worse condition were $80 at Screaming Mimi&#8217;s. I paid $8.</div>
<div></div>
<div></div>
<div>Clinton feels my pain. He has designed a super cute and true t-shirt that reads &#8221; I can&#8217;t afford to &#8216;heart&#8217; NY&#8221;. An incredibly clever way of making money, and for $15, even me and my maxxed-out credit cards can afford it. If only it got me discounts at the bar&#8230;</div>
