The major fashion titles were generally up in advertising from last year with W posting the greatest  gain at 25%  or 41 pages — though at a total of 204 pages, it is still only fifth in the rankings. InStyle had its biggest ad count since stomping onto the newsstand 18 years ago with 344 pages — a 13 % (39 pages) increase — bringing it in at number 2. And this is how the rest of the list shakes out:

1. Vogue — 442.74 pages, up 3.7%

2. InStyle — 344 pages, up 13% (39 pages)

3. Elle — 319 pages, up 2% (6 psges)

4. Harper’s Bazaar — 271 pages, up 16% (37 pages)

5. W — 204 pages, up 25% (41 pages)

Meanwhile, what really matters in this story is that the March issue of Vogue will feature one Ms. Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, which — just saying — will be a marked improvement from the current Grammy gal gracing the February issue.

*Kate Middleton‘s Alexander McQueen was a late addition and Rubenstein had to cut one of the dresses to keep the list to 100. So it was sayonara Nancy Reagan and her white one-shoulder inauguration ball gown. Michelle Obama‘s Jason Wu, however, remained in tact. [WWD, sub req'd]

Prabal Gurung

Prabal wanted to keep things understated: “I didn’t want to dress Miss Piggy in anything that would take away from her bold personality so I went with a simple, classic dress and neutral color. The Empire waist really complements her figure.” I’m sure she would agree since it’s not easy giving a pig a waist. I would insert a Mariah Carey joke here but I’ll wait for when she crawls out of the barn for her inevitable comeback.

Jason Wu

Jason Wu, however, decided to go pig or go home: “Her humor, flamboyance and joie de vivre inspired me to design a decadent feathered dress that features her most sensational qualities.” And always the consummate professional, Piggy is giving an editorial jump to emphasize the garment while keeping that porcine punim light and commercial.

“Style is about expressing your inner self,” said the star, “capturing your personal ethos, and, most importantly, spending someone else’s money.” Take notes, kids.

The Miss Piggy media blitz express will wind its way into Project Runway All-Stars where she will serve as a guest judge, then she’s making a stop at MAC for her line of cosmetics (out November 14th) — and of course there’s that amazing collaboration with Opening Ceremony – all before she karate chops into the station for The Muppets premiere, November 23rd. “This is my first [fashion campaign]. I love clothes. Can’t you tell?” said La Keaton, tongue firmly in cheek(o). Despite her modesty, Diane Keaton’s style credentials are as solid as they come. Her portrayal of scatterbrained, gender-bending heroine Annie Hall in Woody Allen‘s seminal romantic comedy is still one of the most iconic leading ladies in cinema and fashion.

And since 2006, she’s been a face of L’Oréal Paris. I do have to say, though, those Chico’s trousers are unflattering as all get out…but I digress.

In the Chico’s commercials, Diane shares her thoughts on life, love, family and clothes, such as this little gem she shared with WWD: “Love makes the world go ’round. And so do hats and gloves and a fabulous belt.” Oh, Diane, how’d you get so wise?

The print ads will start making their appearance this November in publications such as  O, The Oprah Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar and InStyle with the commercials debuting this holiday season. The campaign’s tagline is “Live for the present” and as a little present — just because I’ll jump at any chance to write about Diane Keaton — have a little bit of this with your morning coffee:

Vanity Fair – up 6.5% to 650 pages

Redbook – down 1.6% to 635 pages

Martha Stewart Living – up 2% t0 507 pages

More – down 3.3% to 401 pages

What a nice well-rounded collection! I’m lovin the floaty, frilly and feather accented dresses…..especially the floral with black trim; a cool choice for those hot summer days ahead. While the bustier dress is hotter than hot, It’s one that I must pass up. I belong to the “ample bosom group” and, for me, it’s hard to find one that fits properly. I also don’t like the “ole yank and pull;” when I get dressed I don’t like to deal with any “fussiness.” That said, I’ve noticed that the stores are inundated with various styles of rompers. From strapless and denim to spaghetti strap prints…….. I like the look as long as they are not too…….short.

Another favorite from this line, are the studded wellies……..it’s a nice touch. All in all this is a line that offers a variety of stylish and wearable pieces.
