Back in June Emma Stone glorified the ~~hallowed~~ shallow red carpet of the MTV Movie Awards in Bottega Veneta. We’re not entirely surprised that this news did not trail its way to Krautland where that same dress has also landed on the cover of Vogue Germany. Let’s compare.

Givenchy‘s Spring/Summer 2011 ad campaign, shot by Mert Alas and Macrus Piggot that’s what. The striking images feature creative director Ricardo Tisci‘s love of androgyny and a generous helping of leopard prints. More pics after the jump!

The campaign stars Givenchy regulars Mariacarla Boscono, Iris Strubegger, Natasha Poly, Daphne Groeneveld along with Jonathan Marquez, Pablo Otero and current It boy, Stephen Thompson.

Noticeably absent, however, is Tisci muse Lea T. I miss that stunning tranny, but these ads are already an early contender for my favorite campaign this year.

Androgyny, Albinos and Alabaster: The Givenchy SS 11 Campaign

Hunky albino Stephen Thompson is the latest star of Givenchy‘s Spring/Summer 2011 campaign, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott alongside honorary albinos Mariacarla Boscono, Daphne Groeneveld and Iris Strubegger.

The campaign will feature Thompson and the models in overlapping exposure, giving the translucence of the model’s skin and Givenchy’s clothes a further ghostly effect.

In an interview with WWD, Riccardo Tisci explained that he felt albinos are “very near [his] world” and that the idea for the campaign as well as his latest collection was inspired by “an alabaster Roman bust atop a stretch of leopard-print fabric.”

Yeah, that sounds about right:

In a graphic black-and-white ad campaign for Karl Lagerfeld F/W 2010, Karl Lagerfeld (I mean, duh) shoots Iris Strubegger and our beloved model-turned-pop superstar Baptiste (relegated to the background) in a stark, sharp gender bender. Look at those killer cheekbones!

I’ve always been a fan of Paolo Roversi’s spreads, their creepy innocence always an interesting compliment to fashion. Loving the lingerie pieces and the amazing gladiator heels, but those drawn-in eyebrows have got to go…

Carine Roitfeld has been putting new models on the cover of important issues of French Vogue, like March and September. For example: Natasha Poly snagged both March & September for 07, Lara Stone did March 08.

I love this spread shot by Solve Sundsbo for Vogue Italia even though Iris Strubegger looks super creepy as a wax statue. Regardless, makeup artist Maria Olsson did a phenomenal job making Strubegger’s flesh look man-made. All of the dresses look fantastic on her, but I especially love this backless number.
