SPREAD UM: Isabeli Fontana for L’Officiel Brazil, May 2009

Jacques Dequeker shot Isabeli Fontana for a big spread in the May 2009 issue of L’Officiel Brasil. Though titled “Dominatrix,” the spread is a lot broader than black leather and bondage accessories. Instead, it’s part 80’s supermodel, part Hitchcock, and a perfect mix of tough and pretty.

COVER STORY: Isabeli Fontana For Vogue Brasil

I love this cover, the bright colored feathers as a mohawk hairpiece looks so awesome, and Fontana’s eyes look amazing. I’m really excited to see her spread in the magazine, because if it’s styled anything like the cover, it’s going to be wicked.

SPREAD UM: V Magazine Swimsuit Issue

V Magazine’s swimsuit issue is really the only thing I care about this week. Beautiful models, it tiny little swimwear equals more than enough joy for all of us. “We chose the sexiest bodies in the world and those that had a special connection to the Testino world; a lot of the guys and girls photographed grew up with V readers over the years.” Check out who made the cut below.

SPREAD UM: “Iguatemi” Vogue Brasil April 2009

Believe it or not, while browsing this spread, Amy Winehouse’s “Back To Black” shuffled its way onto my iTunes. Although Ironic and cliche, the song, in combination with the spread, just reaffirmed that black is A-ok for the spring. The editorial, shot by Jacques Dequeker featuring model Isabeli Fontana, really shows off the textures and shapes of these fierce black pieces. The spread itself isn’t anything groundbreaking, but the clothes, oh, the clothes. Forget my attempt at brightening it up this spring…bring on the black!

MAG HAG: Vogue, May 2009

The May 2009 issue of Vogue is the Steven Meisel-shot “Model Issue,” and features a pull-out cover with “The Faces of the Moment.” (Is it just me, or is Natalia Vodianova having the longest moment ever?!)
It’s great, of course, to see models on a US cover (especially since not one of them is American!) but so many of these names are established already.
The cover features Liya Kebede, Natalia Vodianova, Anna Jagodzinska, Isabeli Fontana, Lara Stone, Jourdan Dunn, Raquel Zimmermann, Caroline Trentini and Natasha Poly.

Adriana Lima joined some of her model friends (Caroline Trentini, Alessandra Ambrosio, Michelle Alves, Raica Oliveira, Isabeli Fontana, and Cintia Dicker) for this nude DT photo shoot.
Ad-dict: Missoni S/S 09 Shot by Steven Meisel

This Missoni ad is both beautiful and slightly disturbing to me. Steven Meisel photographed models Natasha Poly and Isabeli Fontana for the label’s latest campaign. I love the bright colors of the fabrics against the neutral tan sand. But the angle at which it’s shot combined with their makeup almost make them appear dead. I mean, not in a rotting corpse kind of way but something about it disturbs me. Don’t get me wrong though, I like it.
Thanks to Fashion Copious for the photo.
