If the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge look a little more stiff than usual you can thank Madame Tussauds, the famed hall of wax build-ups, which revealed Kate Middleton‘s very first rendering today in London. Her royal fierceness wears an exact replica of the Issa dress in which she announced her engagement to Prince William all those many months ago. Simultaneous exhibits in the museum’s New York, Amsterdam and Blackpool locations feature the future Queen of England in dresses by Alexander McQueen, Temperley and Jenny Packham, respectively. I wonder if they captured Will’s thinning hair as well…

When wrap-dress-impresario Diane von Furstenberg found out from the kids across the pond at Harrods and Selfridges that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge had bought two of her dresses for her upcoming North American tour with fuddy duddy hubby Prince William, she was reportedly “very happy.” Probably in hopes that Kate’s magic touch will work on both sides of the Atlantic.

Unless you’re living under a rock, you’ve seen Kate Middleton’s gorgeous blue engagement dress worn. And if you are one of the many people who went on Net-a-Porter to purchase the Issa lone-sleeved silk-jersey dress, you probably already know that they have long since sold out –within hours of the official announcement, at that.

However, there is good news: the site will be receiving another shipment of the $535 dresses in January, just in time for people stop caring about Kate Middleton’s engagement dress.

TRENDSPARK: Mimicking The Half Shaved Head

Rumor has it that Corey’s half-shaved haircut was all the rage at the Diesel Party last night, but let’s face it, us girls aren’t so willing to part with half of our heads for a an edgy, Alice Dellal look. Despite the fact that Dellal herself walked in the Issa Fall 2009 runway show, all the other models appeared to have the infamous haircut, but surprise, no shaving was involved! While Issa hairstylist Malcolm Edwards’ process is a bit complicated, you can achieve the Dellal look by mousing back and blow-drying stiff the side with less hair (depending on where your part is) and bringing all dry, voluminous hair in front of the opposite side. The trick here is to use a mouse that is strong enough to hold your length/thickness of hair back so it doesn’t come creeping out!

Looks like I’m going to have to try this one for Fashion Week!
