LVMH shook its money maker at Bulgari, paying a 60 percent premium for all its shares – not exactly a cheap price. The buy awarded 50.4 percent control of Bulgari to LVMH, placing Louis Vuitton’s producer in the driver’s seat at Bulgari.

If LVMH were a mustard, it’d be Grey Poupon. It’s got class, and it reaches a global market with a deliciously fine-crafted product. Needless to say, Bulgari likes the deal, too. Hopefully the partnership won’t turn into a sour mustard stain.

I snagged these black heels a few weeks ago at the Barneys Warehouse sale for 75% off! I wore them out with Gabe to celebrate his birthday last week and was actually able to walk a mile and not have any blisters to show for it. I’m not sure if that’s ever happened to me before and it made my entire evening even more enjoyable. We celebrated Gabe’s birthday (and my shoe victory) with Italian food, wine, and blueberry pie (Gabe’s favorite). It was the perfect summer evening.

I love NYC's Elizabeth Street and not just because of Le Labo. It's full of indie designers and retro stores and I always manage to find something special to wear. Last weekend it was a gorgeous dress by Anya Ponorovskaya. The tiny boutique feels like Wonderland for those of us who likes exquisitely cut feminine dresses. There's a vintage vibe there, but Ponorovskaya's designs are timeless and very sexy and the fabrics- cotton and silk- are modern and crisp.

There are also shoes and accessories, but it were the dresses that mesmerized me. They are so well-made and have no other purpose than to make you feel pretty. The dress I got has a similar shape to the one above, but is made of a lace overlay and a red silk slip. It's figure-friendly and made me feel like I just stepped out of the Mad Men set.

Just call me Joannie.

Anya Ponorovskaya has four boutiques- the one on 235 Elizabeth street as well as a bridal store on 167 Elizabeth (there's a gorgeous white version of my dress), and two other locations: in Brooklyn and in Miami. If you're in the area, check out Caffe Falai on  265 Lafayette Street. It’s a great Italian place, as authentic as they come. I love their poached pigs with ricotta cheese and their crepe cake is dreamy- layers of thin delicate crepes with perfect creme patissier. Seriously- don’t miss the desserts.

It was a little chilly today so I paired a dove gray knit Zara dress with a drop-waist with an H&M cropped denim jacket and a vintage scarf. As for accessories, I donned by favorite Ray Ban Club Masters as well as a pair of ballet loafers from Urban Outfitters that I wear to death. I also decided to try out my MAC lip stick in “Party Line” that I have owned for awhile though never wear. I think it may just be my signature shade for autumn!

This gentleman has been causing quite a stir in the men’s style sphere lately—particularly in reference to those washed jeans.

He was snapped by the Sartorialist and Tommy Ton at Pitti Uomo, he’s inspired a crop of bloggers to profess a love for the kind of washed denim that, in simpler times, got tagged as dad jeans.

What does it all mean? Our take is this: man does not live by raw denim alone. There wasn’t anything wrong with this kind of sturdy denim before APC took over the earth, and there isn’t anything wrong with it now. In fact, if you’ve been watching closely, there are a few reasonably hip labels that never stopped making them and a few reasonably iconic figures who never stopped wearing them.

By the same token, don’t expect to get them past any maitre’ds. This elegant Italian gentleman can pull them off and look like a duke on vacation because, well, he’s an elegant Italian gentleman. Try on the same pair of jeans stateside and you’ll end up looking like a someone from a Land’s End catalog. There’s nothing wrong with that, but after the wave of elegant dark washes, it might be a bit of a comedown to think of your jeans as casual pants again.

It infuses citrus, aromatic and floral freshness, and sensual wood.
Colonia ESSENZA will launch world wide August 13, and will be available in the USA at select specialty stores including: Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys New York, and Sephora.com

Pucci
The newest indulgence from Emilio Pucci fragrances introduces the evolution of the Pucci woman. The newest fragrance from Pucci is miss Pucci. This fragrance embodies the style of the “Pucci girl.” She is colorful, youthful, fresh, and seductive. She ahs an air of freedom while still maintaining sophistication and beauty. Always naturally chic, she exudes femininity and energy. This fragrance is a sparkling floral and musky fragrance, composed by Francois Demachy, Christine Nagel, and Benoit Lopouza.

The bottle, designed by Ora Ito, is based on the small oval motif that often recurs in Pucci prints. The designer imagined “an evolutive, ergonomic and flowing packaged box, whose central point is an open window to the world…a kaleidoscopic, stained-glass window constantly playing with light.” Ribbons of coral, rose and orange make the miss Pucci bottle come to life, evoking the playful feel of the fragrance.

This fragrance will be available August 2010 for $89 (75ml), $74 (50ml), and $53 (30ml) at Sephora, Sephora.com, and Pucci boutiques nationwide.

Kenzo
Flower by Kenzo
This is a classic floral powdery fragrance and the power of a fragile, singular flower. It comes in an eco-friendly refillable bottle, which allows the consumer to reduce waste by simply unscrewing the pump and using the eco-friendly pouch to refill when the scent runs out. The refill itself is an easy to use 100ml plastic pouch that retails for $78. The cost is 15% less than buying a totally new bottle. $56 (30ml), $72 (50ml), and $92 (100ml)

KenzoHomme Woody Eau De Toilette
This fragrance is a lively and deep aromatic woody fragrance with an intense vibrant trail. The energy of fresh, fusing leaves, mint and basil, mingles with the power of woody notes of vetiver and Atlas cedar. The fragrance of a free spirit who draws his strength from nature, between sky and earth. Kenzo Homme is packaged in a bamboo bottles and comes in the matte brown of tree barks. Shalimar Eau de Parfum- A New Design (Rock Royalty meets the imperial House)

Guerlain took an edgy approach with their new bottle design for their classic fragrance Shalimar. The bottle was designed by Jade Jagger, daughter of rock icon Mick Jagger. She is ‘modern glamour.’ She revisits Shalimar with respect for its history, giving it the shape of a basin and a base reminiscent of its early years.  Her rendition is a bottle sculpture with curves that are soft, full, and extremely sensual. She carves the upper part of the cap into a fan and it is a jewel-like stopper which is an elegant grey blue. She keeps the rock n roll edge with a leather midnight blue ribbon.

The newly designed Shalimar Eau de Parfum will be available September 2010 at select locations of Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Macy’s, and Bergdorf Goodman. It will also be available at Saks.com and NeimanMarcus.com $72 (30ml) $95 (50ml) and $123 (90ml).

An elegant entwining of art and fashion, with contemporary works and couture creations of many famous names of the “new” Italian fashion system. On the background, one of the coolest places in Rome today: the Pelanda of the Macro Future, former slaughterhouse and now the artistic soul of Testaccio district, at the heart of the city. The week dedicated to Roman fashion opened with a dive in the contemporary luxury theme, made of research and ability. And new ideas, led by new fashion names Made in Italy. The exhibition “Limited.Unlimited”, curated by Susanna Cucco, runs through clothes and accessories created by such Italian designers as Albino, Aquilano+Rimondi, Silvio Betterelli, Carta e Costura, Gabriele Colangelo, Leitmotiv, Marco De Vincenzo, Sara Lanzi, Diego Dolcini, Sabina Masenza, Maurizio Pecoraro, Segio Zambon, Rodolfo Paglialunga for Vionnet.

The common thread of these creative expressions, all very different but all high-levelled, are the works of the artist Maurizio Anzeri who creates, inspired by ancient portraits and embroidery, a progressive crossing between contemporary design and traditional craftsmanship.

Creation after creation, every designer has his own “corner” within Pelanda spaces, a center of cultural production inaugurated in February – the added value of Italian fashion strongly emerges. And it happens in the details: the folds fixed by hand on the back of
the white double poplin skirt of N°21 with crystal embroidery and metal hand-wrought wires on a rabbit coat, very light, designed by Gabriele Colangelo. And of course the clutch bag with micro patchwork by Sabina Masenza and the duchesse laser-cut petals applied by Rodolfo Paglialunga on the powder colour chiffon dress.
