- The CW has greenlit a pilot for The Carrie Diaries, a prequel to Sex and the City based on Candice Bushnell‘s book of the same name. The series will chronicle young Carrie Bradshaw‘s senior year in high school as she takes her first stilettoed steps through New York in the early 80s. I may be known to boast a high waisted short from time to time, and regularly advise you to do the same. And we know why we wear them – when done correctly, they can be quite the flatterer to a figure. But last night, as I wore a pair of long man’s shorts done up high at the waist, belted for definition, I discovered, and this may come as a shock to all but The Man Repeller: Straight men don’t like them.

High waisted shorts are sadly wasted on the straight man.

- The sight of Anna Wintour in Easy Breezy Tennis Casual was at first jarring. Then my mind was officially blown when I learned that she was in $158 J. Brand boot-cut jeans. Not because they were $158 J. Brand jeans, but a boot cut! I recently dug up a pair of flairs that I may or may not have stolen from a fifteen-year-old girl and of course proclaimed that the boot-cut was back. Anna Wintour is totes copying me, you guys. Because I’m kind of obsessed with Proenza Schouler’s J Brand jeans. They’re more expensive than my monthly rent (one and presumably the only good thing about the Bronx), but I could be homeless for these. They’re hand-painted, not that makes a world of difference to me, but it would be a nice incentive to have when pleading for change on the subway.
