Ditch the Coat, Take a Cape

Edited by

This is a call to arms, to remove them from the narrow shafts of coat sleeves. Let them live with the rest of the body underneath a cape or a drape. The shape is free and flowing, the cuts are crafty and they’ve got a wrappable capacity that keeps you roasty toasty. As they say, keep the chest warm, the arms will take care of themselves.

BOUTIQUE CRITIQUE: 1 Of A Find Does Seven Vintage Looks

Edited by

When it comes to designer vintage, FashionIndie does not eff around.  We love everything about classic design – the uber-high quality, the meticulous craftmanship, the luxurious materials – not to mention the amazing stories that come with a Lanvin ball gown that is four decades old!  Every outfit tells a different story, and like we always say, the best stories are the ones told in designer.

This Boutique Critique is about the amazing designer vintage store, 1 Of A Find.  Curator and self-professed shopaholic Honey Moon goes on buying trips all over the world seeking out beautiful, unique, impossible-to-get-your-hands-on Hermes, Chanel, Gucci, Lacroix, and Lanvin to satisfy her international clientele.  She used me as a Barbie doll and transported me into worlds I only dream of.  Best part? Her prices are as unique as her collection, so we definitely recommend scooting over to her Brooklyn location asap.  Check out all our amazing finds after the jump.

How To Go Jacketless Now

Edited by

We’ve had a mighty long winter, and right now you just don’t feel like wearing a jacket. We’re almost hitting real spring in NYC, the true chill is going away but the weather is still a bit too unpredictable to go without a jacket-like structure entirely. Enter: Spring Layering. These are light, sheer layers that together act as a strong shield between you and a gust of breeze. All layered up, your jacketless outfit could look like this, but let me pare it down for you.

WIN A Hawke & Co iPod Jacket

Edited by

Believe it or not, spring is here which means it is time to transition from your heavy furs and coats into lightweight jackets. Hawke & Co happens to make one of this season’s coolest jackets that secures your mp3 or iPod device inside the jacket, and control the functions from the sleeve. We’ve recently teamed up to give one away to one of our lucky readers.

Ok, so I know I have only looked at a few collections from NYFW thus far, but Gary Graham’s is incredible! I did a post on him a while back because I think his designs are so innovative, deconstructed, and unique. His shows are not very long since he’s …

Taylor Momsen Takes Up Mantle of Leather Jacket Police

Taylor Momsen Takes Up Mantle of Leather Jacket Police

Taylor Momsen is 17. She had her big break starring on the tween hit Gossip Girl. And now she’s calling out Rihanna for wearing a leather jacket, saying that the pop star’s sartorial choice is unacceptable since Rihanna is not a rocker. What? From a recent interview with Spin:

“People think pop is rock, and the lines are getting blurred. Now Rihanna’s wearing fucking leather jackets, and it’s really annoying.”

Not sure how in the world this quote can be spun into something positive, or something that makes any sense whatsoever. That’s like saying Lady Gaga shouldn’t wear capes because she’s not a superhero. Oh wait…
