W‘s September issue is pretty epic. It arrived sans fanfare in the FashionIndie office yesterday and I immediately seized it within my eager claws, having witnessed the miracle that was the cover only a few days ago. In his first full issue, Edward Enninful makes his mark with a series of strong editorials, one of my favorites being “Transformers,” featuring a roster of superstar models in dramatic “Before” and “After” looks.

Supers Mariacarla Boscono and Natasha Poly sit high atop the throne of Drama Queen in their dynamic editorial for W, “Making a Scene” shot by Willy Vanderperre and styled by Olivier Rizzo. Maria and Natasha’s little pas de deux reminds me of Lanvin‘s Spring 2010 ads starring Jamie Bochert: all hair tossing, drunken thrusting and graceful leaning. Inspiration?

The tuxedo can be a problem area for men who shudder at pomp and circumstance—for men who thrive on edge. At this year’s CFDA Awards in New York, photographer Tommy Ton captured a few trendsetters who found a balance of both worlds, and who might make you think twice about the tux (below).
