Jared Leto and pals Terry Richardson and Olivier Zahm were caught hanging out at the Standard Hotel in NYC, and I can’t help but notice the amazing pieces the Requiem For A Dream actor has on. I am in love with his General Idea jacket (obviously because they were my favorite show this Fashion Week), and the combination of the all black look with the gold on his Creative Recreation sneakers is really the icing on the cake! Jared Leto is coming back strong, and at least this time he’s doing it in style.

In case you think he’s as hot as I think he is…he’s back! We spotted him at GStar and apparently he’s been hitting the town all week.

Painting ones nails might just be the oldest beauty trend. The Chinese have been making their nails beautiful since 3000 B.C. using a mix of arabic gum, eggs whites, gelatin and beeswax. Other ancient nail painting practices include stains from henna and massaging tinted powders into their nails. The painting of ones nails was so important to women that recipes for making your own nail varnish was included in 19th century cookbooks. Thankfully, nail polish technology and connivence has progressed.

Nail Solvent, or nail polish remover as it is now known as, was a big selling item in the first half of the 20th century. Something we now take for granted a good nail solvent was seen as a way to elevate the level of the nail polish you were selling.

The selling point of nail solvent can be seen in this ad for on the lower right side of this vintage advertisement which explains how Cutex remover is different then the others because it “contains a very special oil” that will not leave residue on the nails.

Moon manicures were popular with Hollywood starlets in the 20’s and 30’s, so it’s no surprise vintage glamour lover Dita Von Teese is bringing back this nail trend.

Mini-skirt inventor Mary Quant is less known for deciding that nail might not only match your lipstick, they could match your clothing too! Her mod aesthetic required red nails to be put on the back burner, allowing pastels nails to became all the rage.

Pastel nails lead to bright nails, and then darker nails which have been seen on the goth crowd for, well, ever. Male rock stars love this look to, seen above on Jared Leto. This love affair dates back to 60’s Lou Reed when he was fronting The Velvet Underground.

The 70’s saw the rise of the French Manicure, a term coined by Orly founder Jeff Pink and his manicure sets. This muted manicure is considered so timeless that it is often worn on important days such as ones wedding.

Minx nails are the newest big nail trend, as we wrote about last month. These metallic nail coverings have been seen on everyone from Lady Gaga to Blake Lively. Minx is basically nail stickers that are applied with heat and easy to remove.

With so many nail trends to choose from, and more popping up every day, decorating ones nails never ceases to be fun. No wonder it’s been such a long standing love affair.

Apparently some of our interchangeable Hollywood males decided to cut their bangs at the same time, so they still look exactly alike. Chace Crawford, Zac Efron and Jared Leto (who didn’t make our list, he’s probably so bummed) have all cut their bangs recently, say goodbye to man bangs! I know you’re crying on the inside…

We’ll start at the root of the problem, Ed Westwick. Ed has a band called The Filthy Youth that he has put on hold to finish up with Gossip Girl. If you’re putting your so called “punk” band on hold to shoot a show called Gossip Girl, you shouldn’t be in a punk band. Not to mention the band really isn’t good. Don’t believe me? Check out their MySpace.

Next up Taylor Momsen. Trying to follow suit with Ed Westwick, she started a grunge inspired band called The Reckless that also isn’t good. Her bandmates suck, she’s awkward on stage, and there is a reason she got cut from being Hannah Montana back in the day, because she can’t really sing. I’ve listened to her songs over and over, and she sings in a monotoned voice. The point of grunge music is to scream and squeel, and while she tries she doesn’t succeed. If she really wants to start a band maybe something the in light of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs would be a bit more appropriate. Taylor has the look, she just needs the material to back it up.

And finally there’s Leighton Meester. Much to my suprise, B can sing (but then again so can anyone with auto tune)! Never the less, Leighton has by far the superior voice to the prior two, but again I don’t know where her intentions are with music. She chose to do her major debut doing guest vocals for the hipster dance wannabe’s Cobra Starship, but I’m interested in seeing where her career takes her. She belongs in pop music for sure.

For all these aspiring rock stars, maybe their music should remain a hobby. They will forever be cast in the shadow of their Gossip Girl Upper East Sider shadows. Not to mention, I thought that Jennifer Love Hewitt proved to world that sitcom stars can’t become triple threats (not since Jared Leto I guess, but look at him now!).

Zac Efron looked cute, but particularly Man in the Yellow Hat-like Tuesday at LAX.

Since it’s just the hat, and you’re otherwise quite pretty, it’s only a minor offense, Zac. We’ll let you off easy.

In the meantime, continue looking vaguely like Jared Leto, but less like a tourist.

Due to the fact that I was recently called a discriminatory bigot against fat people, so in order to prove that I don’t hate fat people I have decided to offer a simple weight loss solution brought to you by Snapple. The Fashion Indie team was enjoying a delicious lunch today, when Rebecca opened her Snapple green tea and revealed a rather interesting Snapple Fact. The cap stated “Smelling bananas and/or apples can help you lose weight.” So for you unfortunate fatties walk (or run!) to Whole Foods and snag yourself some fruit and duct tape them under your nose. See I do care about our not so slender readers, I really am trying to help.
