The singer revealed her baby bump on the VMA red carpet — well there’s one, and probably the only, thing I regret about skipping that “awards” show —  in an asymmetrical orange Lanvin. Beyonce’s rep has also confirmed that she and Jay-Z are indeed expecting their first child, meaning celeb kids better step their games up because this one’s coming out of the womb dripping in diamonds and swag. I listened to “Watch the Throne” last night, and have to say it’s a great record. What have I learned from what I’ve heard? You have to work in the fashion industry to understand anything they’re saying. Examples, from “Otis” alone:

“New watch alert, Hublot’s”

“Couture level flow, it’s never going on sale”

“Luxury rap, the Hermes of verses”

Okay, I guess those lyrics are pretty pedestrian, but still, makes us feel special fellas. What do you think of their first music video?

- The Wall Street Journal called in an expert to explain why Linda Evangelista‘s son needs $46,000 a month from his father, billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault-Hayek. Turns out young Augustin James is ballin’ out of control. [The Cut]

- A report that Jay-Z bought Billionaire Boys Club – Pharrell‘s clothing line — have been refuted by Jigga himself, who claims he’s only “partnering” with the Neptune. [GQ]

Following the announcement that Rihanna will be Vogue Italia‘s “Woman of the Year,” FashionIndie put together this retrospective from her last shoot with the Italian mag, with her  looking weirdly like Victoria Beckham for their September 2009 issue.The editorial shot by Steven Klein is entitled “Extreme Couture,” and we would expect nothing less from Rihanna. Bondage, sparkle pasties, pouring water out of back packs – it’s all there.

The new article from this year’s magazine calls her the “jewel in the crown of Jay-Z‘s stable” (Stable? Let’s not even get started on the fact that crowns and horses have nothing to do with each other), and also drops her full name, uddenly we’re glad that she went with her middle name. Two Robyn‘s with amazing music careers would just get a too confusing.

The magazine refers to her as an “independent, energetic fighting spirit” and claims that  ”she is currently the undisputed best contender to the role of queen of pop. You might wonder – wasn’t that supposed to be Lady Gaga‘s title? Not quite.” Them’s fighting words, Franca.

Strange article aside, Rihanna‘s black and white editorial from last year is still as fierce as she is, and we’re loving it.

The exhibit opens today June 7th at famed British jeweler Stephen Webster in Beverly Hills.  Proceeds from “In Case of Fashion Emergency Break Glass,” in addition to 10% of jewelry sales for the month of June, will be donated to the Prince’s Trust.

The Prince’s Trust is a cause especially close to Thomas’s heart. Having left his native Glouchester where he was studying as a plumber’s apprentice, Thomas found himself in London at age nineteen with only 30 pounds to his name. There he became immersed in the nightlife scene in hopes of meeting his idol, Boy George. He soon realized, however, he couldn’t get by with just being fabulous; he actually had to do something. The life of a fashion editor appealed to him so at 22 he applied for a grant from the Prince’s Trust.

With the money he won, David put together a portfolio and wrote over 100 stylists, hoping to work for free as an assistant. He supported himself with a job handing out roses and perfume in a bathroom of a club at night and washing dishes at a café on the weekends. He was eventually hired by Isabella Blow and Judy Blaine; the latter, as fate would have it, was Boy George’s stylist. After scoring a lucky break styling Lisa Stansfield‘s video for “All Around the World,” Thomas took over working with Boy George from Blaine, who had become too busy with another client, Neneh Cherry.

By 24, David Thomas had become the fashion editor at Esquire, the youngest editor in the world at that time. He befriended Hamish Bowles, who was working at Harper’s & Queen in the office next door. Bowles took Thomas under his refined wing and taught him the ins and outs of proper decorum. Thomas also met a young Philip Treacy from whom he commissioned a hat for Boy George, thus helping launch his impressive career as a milliner.

David Thomas plans to document his 23-plus years in fashion with a book he’s currently working on, but for “In Case of Fashion Emergency,” he didn’t want to delve too deep into the past. Rather, he wanted to focus on the last six months to make the exhibit more relevant. He will be featuring looks he styled for Britney Spears, Chris Brown, Matthew McConaughey, Avril Lavigne, Chris Hemsworth, John Legend and of course Puff Daddy, by whom the exhibit’s name is more or less inspired.

While having dinner one Saturday night, Puff called him, desperately in need of an outfit for dinner with Jay Z — an age-old dilemma. David rushed home, but impeded by traffic, got there an hour later, at which point Puff had already solved the problem. He later joked with friends that he should always have a back-up outfit, encased in a glass box like a fire extinguisher, and  in case of fashion emergencies, he would simply break the glass.

If you’re in Beverly Hills tonight or at all during the month of June — the length of the exhibit —  make sure to drop by Stephen Webster so you too can be prepared for your own fashion emergencies. Although, I doubt Puff Daddy will be calling you anytime soon, as David Thomas would tell you, it’s best to be prepared.

The MOMa’s Garden Party benefits the museum’s Annual Fund and the maintenance of The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden and last night’s attendees were of an appropriately distinguished lot.

But for every Mayor Michael Bloomberg or Larry Gagosian there was a Chloë Sevigny or Aziz Ansari who perhaps didn’t come for the dinner (with tables going for $25,000 to $100,000, who could blame them?) but for the after-party at the museum’s Terrace 5 Lounge.

The line for that party stretched down 54th St — filled with people who didn’t cough up the $500 for VIP tix, no doubt — and by the time Kanye took the stage at 11-ish, there were an extra 1500 guests ready to rap-sing along to their favorite tunes.

His set, a little over an hour, was punctuated by Jay-Z who was apparently granted permission to leave the penthouse from wifey, Beyoncé. Jay then ordered the crowd to go H.AM. — and if you’re as out-of touch with today’s hippity-hop as I am, that means “Hard As A Motherfucker. “

If only I could’ve seen Mayor Bloomberg fucking shit up with Chloë and Aziz, my life would be complete. [WWD]

Let’s take a look at the Best Dressed of the night. This category has quite a bit of people, as it should, for fashion’s biggest event. These were the As and high Bs, the working girls.

Shalom Harlow is my pick for BEST DRESSED in Marchesa. This is what the Met Ball is all about – she looks breathtaking in that gown.

I almost fell over when I saw Christina Ricci in Zac Posen. She never ages a day and looks super sexy in this sheer number.

I found Mary-Kate’s dress underwhelming, but Ashley Olsen looks ravishing in vintage Dior Haute Couture. The whole look is perfect.

Elle Fanning looks like a little couture doll in Valentino. She is so outshining her sister, it’s not even fair.

Rihanna has been looking haggard lately, so I was pleasantly surprised at how elegant she was in this striking Stella McCartney gown.

Iman, also in Stella McCartney, turned it out in a metallic gold jumpsuit. A little draggy, a lot amazing.

Karolina Kurkova in a spring 2011 Jean Paul Gaultier lace legging-dress creation. If the models can’t do it, who can?

I love this Prabal Gurung gown and funky jewelry on Ciara. White could be difficult to pull off at the ball, but she did it right.

Even though Crystal Renn is too skinny for my taste, she is an absolute vision in Alexander McQueen. I need my hair to look like this.

After getting ready in a Barneys window yesterday, Daphne Guiness showed up in McQueen. Perfect, amazing, stuns.

I loved Ginnifer Goodwin‘s look from the moment  I saw it. Then I realized it was custom Topshop. Damn she makes it look good.

Naomi Campbell looks like the queen she is in custom McQueen. She wears the sedatives well too.

Hamish Bowles looks like a true gentleman in custom McQueen. Love it from head to toe.

I always wait with baited breath to see what Blake Lively is wearing. She obviously did not disappoint in a Chanel toga.

New York’s best couple showed up looking better than ever. Beyonce is working that Emilio Pucci gown like whoa.

Queen Bitch Anna Wintour gave her best smile to the camera and looks like a shiny grandiose statue in Chanel.

On to the Most Boring of the night. On any other occasion, these folks would have looked great (probably). Unfortunately, this also means they’re the Cs of the Met Ball.

I’m sleeping. Zoe Saldana is usually among the best dressed. Why did she choose this boring Calvin Klein for the biggest fashion night of the year?

Leighton Meester is amazing, but she has trouble getting it right. Different shoes and hair would have done this Louis Vuitton dress more justice.

I love this Michael Kors dress on Emma Roberts, but she has the body to wear something more over the top on a night like this.

Madonna, the Material Girl herself, definitely could have done better than this Stella McCartney dress. Pretty, but boring.

I’m actually quite obsessed with this Miu Miu dress Michelle Williams is wearing. But I would wear this to a nice dinner, not a gala.

And now ladies and gentleman, the Worst Dressed of the night. These are the Ds and Fs of the Met Ball, the creme de la creme of mistakes.

ARGH! Christina Hendricks used to dress so well! This Carolina Herrera gown is an unflattering fit and color on her.

Oh dear. Hate to say it Alicia Keys, but it looks like you’re wearing a giant turd instead of Givenchy. Brown jacket AND dress is NOT fly.

Jennifer Lopez looks like a halfway plucked bloody chicken. Matchy-matchy lipstick, bag and Gucci is a no go.

I thought Chloe Sevigny would make McQueen look good, but I was wrong. The hair is awful and the dress fits like she grabbed it off some rack.

Sorry to say it Kate Hudson, but this Stella McCartney is not a cute pregnant lady dress. And whatever is on your head isn’t working either.

Nooooo! In the rush of preparing for the gala, Lucy Liu forgot to get a wax! Oh wait, that’s just her looking blech in Vionnet.

Famous for her 16-bar cameos in songs by Ludacris (“My Chick Bad”), Usher (“Little Freak”) and Mariah Carey (“Up Outta My Face”), Nicki is also the first female rapper to top the Rap Songs Billboard chart on with the Annie Lennox-sampling “You Love” since another bold raptress Missy Elliott in 2002.

Nicki is rapper as popstar, sort of a Gaga Latifah. Like the Lady, she has a taste for the more outrageous in style, but also doesn’t take herself or her image too seriously.

If you’re not familiar with the raptress, here’s a sampler of some of her best and baddest to whet your appetites til the 22nd.

For those of you that haven’t checked your recent Twitter updates or Facebook posts, Coachella festival 2010 was this weekend and only one word comes to mind: EXHAUSTION. It all started with a phone call from a friend asking if I wanted to go the Friday it started and ended with bruises, scrapes, and an aesthetic overload of the most diverse genres of music in my head.

I got there around 10:00 pm with a welcome performance from Vampire Weekend. After that I landed front row to see my number one IDOL Jay Z and a guest performance from Beyonce. The next day was Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, front row with MGMT, Devo, and Tiesto. At least those are the ones I saw. Oh, and there was a naked guy.

When Sunday came around I was Coachella’d out but kept in mind that I still needed to see Little Boots, Thom Yorke, and Gorillaz. It was well worth it and I will be coming back next year for sure, but I am still glad it is only once a year otherwise I would go into a permanent party coma.

In the Fashion Indie offices, when we here the words “sex tape” we get giddy with excitement.  Since there has been a lack of them coming out recently, we took it upon ourselves to compile our favorite couples we would like to see “getting busy.” Everyone knows not every sex tape  is good to watch, that being said we decided to split the list up into ones you really want to see and ones just too creepy to not look at.

The Ones You Want To See:

Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady

She’s a Victoria Secret model and he is an hot Superbowl winning quarterback. (Who wouldn’t want to see these two hotties “doing the do”) These two are so hot I’m sure they’ve left a few hotel beds steaming. It might be harder for these two to film a sex tape now since they just welcomed a baby into the world but, after seeing Gisele’s post baby pictures it’s obvious she found a way to burn off the baby weight.

Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone

I think I had something really witty to write until this picture left me  breathless. Designer Marc Jacobs and his partner Lorenzo Martone make for a very attractive couple. I don’t care if you’re gay, straight, bi, or asexual this would be a sex tape to be seen and viewed many times. We do actually like both these guys for their talents but they are some serious eye candy.

Heidi Klum and Seal

This couple really makes me smile. (Partly because I think of how adorable they look together, but mostly I wonder how they look like in the buff.) These two need to hop on the sex tape bandwagon ASAP because everyone is waiting. I just hope they make one when Heidi isn’t pregnant, which seems like she always is. (We’re not that kinky.)

Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom

Yes, another model and Victoria Secret Angel has made our list. (Maybe that’s her secret.) From the above picture you can tell that the public was so close to getting a glimpse of the two “knocking boots.” We hope that these two stay together for a while just so the opportunity of them having a sex tape released is still around. I feel like they would role play where he is the pirate looking for some booty. (Too much?)

Beyonce and Jay Z

Let’s be honest with ourselves, the main reason we want to see this is for the grand diva, Beyonce. After watching her new commercials for her fragrance “Heat,” I know I am left hot and bothered. These two have so much energy on stage that it would be interesting to see if they bring the same passion and intensity to the bedroom.

The Ones You Can’t Help  But Watch:

Now we absolutely love these two (Honestly!), but if these guys made a sex tape I don’t know how good it would be.  They seem like the couple I would love to see about the town and at premieres, but never in bed. The only sex between these guys that I am interested in is the new Sex and the City 2 movie, especially after watching this trailer.

Karl Lagerfeld and Any Paid Escort

Everyone knows that Uncle Karl loves to hire escorts, in fact that why he made our is of top pervs. I shutter to think of any sex tape like this leaking out. I don’t doubt that it will be fashionable but I would need a barf bag near buy. (Maybe Chanel should invest in making some condoms with the famous “C’s” on them. (I’m sorry, I just threw up a little)

Rachel Zoe and Rodger Berman

Honestly, it’s hard to come up with reasons that this sex tape would even be remotely good. I can see it now: Rachel just laying across the bed in nothing but a fur with at blackberry in hand while yelling at Roger cause his Versace banana hammock doesn’t match his socks. (Sorry for the mental picture) This sex tape is really for anyone who has a fetish for chicly dressed skeletons.

Pamela Anderson and Richie Rich

Obviously we know that these two are not an item, but they are butt buddies. In fact I don’t even think is is physically possible for these two to even have sex together, let alone make a sex tape. (Contrary to the title picture) We’ve already seen Pam flaunting her sexcapades on camera before, but if they ever did one together I’m am sure eyes would be pulled out.

Lady Gaga and Herself

This wouldn’t be a list without Lady Gaga. Now there’s no one that can make a sex tape with Gaga besides herself because honestly no one can compare with her. I would imagine her sex tape not to be sexy at all but look more like a fashion and pop orgasm. It would become an instant hit like “Two Girls One Cup” but with more McQueen.

Lil Mama jumped onstage at the end of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ performance at the end of the VMAs last night, it’s kindof funny because Jay-Z tries to push her out of the way a little bit..no one has really commented on this issue as much as the Kanye one, but there is a Twitter topic going around about it (#lilmamais). I headed over to the last Jelly Pool Party of the summer yesterday with Alyssa and Jamie from Love Brigade to see friends play dodgeball, and watch Grizzly Bear.   I had heard of Grizzly Bear, but I had never seen them. I was pleasantly surprised by their live show, and I think Mischa Barton, Solange Knowles (or is that Beyonce?), and Jay-Z all were too. The lines were crazy long, and people were trying to jump the fences (one girl ate shit and fell flat on her face), but overall, everyone seemed to be in to the beautiful weather and awesome music. I haven’t put my pirate hat on yet and started hunting for it, but the rumor is that Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 is up for grabs on the web. It’s insane how the Internet ruined a lot of what the music industry once was. Anyone steal this album yet? Is it any good?
