Jean-Charles de Castelbajac Recreated My Thrift Coat

Edited by

Today Jean-Charles de Castelbajac showed this phenomenal red plaid fringed coat with slightly cropped ‘n’ rolled cuffs and center front buttons. A week ago, I happened to purchase a red plaid fringed coat with slightly cropped ‘n’ rolled cuffs and center front buttons… at the Salvation Army. Am I a fashion future seer or did Jean-Charles somehow see me and quickly add it to his collection?

RUNWAY RUNDOWN: William Tempest Fall 2009

RUNWAY RUNDOWN: William Tempest Fall 2009

London’s prodigy designer, William Tempest, has me on structure overload with his meticulously constructed Fall 2009 collection. Having worked closely with Giles Deacon, Jean Charles de Castelbajac and Diesel, there is no questioning where the man gets his skill from. Utilizing several earthly elements inspired patterns, there is no doubt that Tempest’s Fall 2009 collection has a subdued version of earth, wind and fire on the brain. Unlike many designers, who’s work tends to be reworked before hitting the market, Tempest’s exact items are now available for purchase on Browns London!

RANDOM COOL: Jean Charles de Castelbajacs Lego Sunglasses

If Jean-Charles de Castelbajac’s Mupppet inspired Fall 2009 collection didn’t stir your nostalgia, then his customizable lego sunglasses certainly will! Available in red, white and yellow, these shades are completely “brick-able” and ready for your building pleasure. Me, I’d stick a bunch of those Lego people on the sides and call it a party.

RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Jean-Charles de Castelbajac Fall 2009

Edited by

RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Jean Charles de Castelbajac Fall 2009RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Jean Charles de Castelbajac Fall 2009Jean-Charles de Castelbajac– French for Dolce, Gabbana and Jim Henson…on some serious acid. Daniel might have bashed the stuffing out of the Kermit shawl, but there is something so youthfully whimsical, yet sick and twisted, about Jean-Charles de Castelbajac’s Fall 2009 collection. With the typical D&G leopard prints, primary color plaid and the Muppets as his major focus, de Castelbajac sent out a punky, rebellious collection, poking fun at everything our modern age dubs as “mainstream.” Sure, the collection looked a bit amateur for a Paris runway, but de Castelbajac certainly knows where to place zippers, how to construct uniquely tailored cocktail dresses and what appeals to the crack-heads of the world. This is what I love about the fashion industry- designers who follow their heart, piss people off and have a good time while doing it.

Miss Piggy Would Not Be Pleased

Miss Piggy Would Not Be Pleased

Oh god, this is total bullfrog shit.

This is the type of corny ass fashion stuff you see coming out of first year FIT students, you know that “couture” wannabe stuff that’s made when a student notices a commercial featuring Kermit selling Pizza Hut Stuffed Crust and realizes that the frog is the spokesperson fashion so desperately needs. So he heads to the nearest Toys ‘r us and picks up 30 stuffed muppets for $20 bucks and then stitches them together and attempts to charge $5000 for the “art” piece. Of course, in this case, it isn’t some misguided fashion student, it’s French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and it isn’t some final project for a Fashion Design class, it’s Paris Fashion Week. Either way, were going to give this an F.
