Christie Brinkley was Billy Joel‘s “Uptown Girl.” Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington helped George Michael declare his “Freedom.” And Helena Christensen played Chris Isaak‘s “Wicked Game,” as directed by the legendary Herb Ritts. Models have been appearing in music videos nearly as long as the form has been alive, lest we forget Calvin Klein brief-fillers Djimon Hounsou and Antonio Sabato, Jr. in Janet Jackson‘s “Love Will Never Do (Without You),” also directed by Ritts. Coachella wasn’t the only fashion-forward festival going down this weekend. It’s going to be a haute year on the international pop superstar tour circuit. While Madonna will be wearing Jean Paul Gaultier and Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci on her upcoming MDNA tour, her monstrous mini-me Lady Gaga has turned to Giorgio Armani for her Born This Way Ball tour, kicking off April 27 in Seoul, Korea.

Diet Coke, that is. Coca Cola just released images of the spankin’ new collaboration between Jean Paul Gaultier and the famous diet soda that Karl loved before him. Gaultier themed the bottles Day and Night: Stripes by day. Corset by night. They are styled like the runways of JPG history, and mais biensûr, the cone bra movement that Madonna made famous makes a cameo. Ready to roll out in 9 European countries, they’ve got the TV commercials and print campaign, shot by Stephane Sednaoui cheekily ready. It’s branding of Jean Paul Gaultier, the man, like we’ve never seen it before. Drink it in.

And the French get the final say. Paris Fashion Week has drawn to a close and we’ve sifted the runways for the trends that will affect your wardrobe come September, or sooner. Designers have squared off, whited out, and swept their competition. Karl Lagerfeld and Marc Jacobs were on some similar wavelengths for the new silhouette of Chanel and Louis Vuitton. Ann Demeulemeester and Gareth Pugh finally got coordinating dragon tattoos. Meanwhile, the leg bomber strikes again and we’re still highlighting the hot outline. Coca-Cola has tapped Parisian couturier Jean Paul Gaultier as its new creative director, following in the heels of fellow cokehead Karl Lagerfeld. As the CD, Gaultier will have a role in advertising campaigns, package designs, online events and, more importantly, a role in a new series if tongue-in-soda-filled-cheek shorts for the fizz foundation.
