Oprah may have hung up her television mic and camera-ready wig, but that doesn’t mean she’s given up the role of interviewer par excellence. Eschewing his sprawling Colorado ranch, legendary designer Ralph Lauren coaxed the big O out for a night at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tulley Hall to sit down and chat about…him to raise money for the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

The stars from all walks of fame turned out for the iconic chat, including Diane von Furstenberg, Uma Thurman, Naomi Watts, Sean Avery, Chanel Iman, Prabal Gurung, Tory Burch, Jessica Alba, Jerry Seinfeld, Tom Brokaw, Babs Walters, Martha Stewart and of course, Gayle King. All in all the event raised over $7 million proving once again that everything Oprah touches turns to gold. Or at least turns to wads and wads of cash. [WWD]

Missoni for Target Literally Shutting It Down

The demand for Missoni‘s diffusion line for Target proved so overwhelmingly popular that the mass retailer’s site shut down on Tuesday.

A heaping helping of shade was thrown all over the interwebs from disgruntled customers wanting to get their clutches on the one-off collection with many blaming Target’slack of preparation for the feverish rush. The line was made available at 6 a.m. on Tuesday and by 7:47 am the homepage was down. Thirteen minutes later, Target put up a courtesy page claiming the problem was being worked on.

Though Target switched from Amazon.com‘s backend to their own platform, the #fail was mostly attributed to the Missoni fever built up over the last few months. Vogue featured the line in its August issue — with New York Times writer Stephanie Clifford astutely pointing out that that was “perhaps the first and last time that a $30 rug made it into that magazine” — and items at the Missoni for Target pop-up shop sold out in six hours during Fashion’s Night Out. Even alleged celebrities like the Jessicas Simpson and Alba were coveting the pieces.

While the collection will last through October 22nd, over 6,000 items popped up on eBay just some 11 hours after they had initially gone on sale. While all this hubbub and hullabaloo is great for Missoni, Target’s kind of getting its ass handed to them, with words like “amateurish” and “embarrassing” being bandied about. Of course, Target will recover and hopefully learn its lesson and hopefully the masses’ unprecedented demand for discount Missoni will inevitably be satiated. [NYT]

Looks like the CFDA Awards will be a star-studded affair, featuring celebrity’s on stage, in the audience and, most importantly, drunk and sloppy on the red carpet.

Sofia Coppola will present good friend and longtime fag to her hag, Marc Jacobs with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, amidst a roar of boos. Somehow Jessica Alba scored an invite and will hand over the Founders Award to Hal Rubenstein and sexy septuagenarian Grace Coddington will hurl the Board of Directors’ Special Tribute Award to an unsuspecting Arthur Elgort. Karolina Kurkova, not to be outdone, will present the three Swarovski Awards.

Meanwhile, Patrick Ervell dug up Kirsten Dunst for his date, Micahel Kors will be chaperoned by Ashley Greene and Calvin Klein‘s Francisco Costa by noted actress Kerry Washington. Liv Tyler forsake frequent gal-date Stella McCartney for the humpy Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler and last but not least, Chlöe Sevigny will stumble into the ceremony with MAC Cosmetics.

This should make the FiFis look…well, like the FiFis. [WWD]

Oh No They Didn’t! tells us how celebrities stay painfully thin, however, shockingly/suspiciously/facetiously missing from mention is a diet of cocaine, amphetamines and bulimia.

Carrie Underwood: “When I gain weight, it’s in the spare-tire area. I’ve told trainers abs are a physical impossibility for me. And every single time, they’re like, ‘Well, we’ll get you abs!’ So do I have them? No! But they’re as flat as they’re probably going to get. Push-ups work out everything. If you do them right, you’ll feel it in your abs. I do four sets of 10 to 20.”

Jessica Alba: Alba does this all-over toning move: Begin standing and holding 5lb dumbbells – your left arm should be chin height and your right arm should be extended to the ceiling. Take a giant step to your right, landing in a lunge, with your right knee bent and angled slightly forward. Keep your left leg straight while simultaneously lowering right arm to shoulder height. Pause momentarily, then push off your right leg, returning to the starting position with your feet together and right arm extended to ceiling. Perform 12 reps then repeat on left side. Perform 2 sets.

Cheryl Cole: While in girl band Girls Aloud Cheryl lost a lot of weight, and this was mostly down to the hectic schedule and continuous rehearsals and gigs, which simply meant she was burning a lot of calories doing dance workouts. Cheryl would often perform this fitness routine, as devised by the bands personal trainer: 30 minutes running on the treadmill. 60 minutes weight training exercises.

Zoe Saldana: Instead of only sweating to look good for one big event, Saldana strives to make healthy habits second nature. “After the premiere of Avatar, Steve felt like my training dropped off and he was like, ‘You need to come back.’ He was right, you really have to nurture your body,” she explains. “I have a lot of respect for people who do it, because it’s a lifestyle.”

Rihanna: Rihanna admits her body is the result of “a lot of hard work and a lot of running on the treadmill.” Carbs are the enemy but if I go three days without them, I start getting weak. If my trainer had her way, I’d eat small meals every three hours, but I sometimes only eat once or twice a day. I work out every day but I need a trainer to motivate me – I don’t find it much fun working out on my own.” “Everyone wants to have slim, perfectly-toned legs and I’m the same. I do weights but I don’t want my legs to bulk up so I do a lot of cardio. I’ve lost a lot of weight since I started working out and if I exercise every day for a week, I can drop several pounds. If I diet, I see even faster results.”

Adriana Lima: Exercises 2 hours 6 days a week. Working out should be a part of everybody’s routine,” she says. “I know sometimes you don’t have time — that’s why I love jumping rope, because you can take it with you anywhere and you don’t need to do it, like, one hour. You can do it ten minutes and it’s like 45 minutes of running.”

Amanda Seyfried: “Running a half hour four to five days a week keeps me alright–five days, because I feel guilty when I don’t. I also go to Harley Pasternak’s three times a week, and I love it. He’s fun and we do different things every time. It’s 45 minutes, and he kicks my ass! My legs are really strong, and I feel really great. And I go to my pilates teacher, Nikiko, on the weekends–she’s all about stretching and toning and being long and lean.”

Anna Paquin: “I like to mix things up so I’m not doing the same thing every single day,” she said. She also works out on the elliptical and stationary bike she keeps in her garage. “Let’s face it, gyms aren’t open at four in the morning. So if I can’t do anything else, I can get a perfectly good workout in my garage!”

Miranda Kerr: Miranda spends about four sessions of 75 minutes each at the gym. Her workout is usually a combination of exercises targeting all muscle groups, but which places emphasis on her legs. Thus, Gelband says, Kerr does 30 minutes on her legs, 30 on her core, arms and balance, and 15 minutes on stretching afterwards. To keep her legs lean and toned (and, of course, cellulite-free), Miranda also does a 5-kilometer run and weight work, plus some boxing on the side.

Katy Perry: While Perry admits she hates working out, she stays fit by jumping rope. “I love jumping rope,” she said. “It’s like dancing. I can double jump, I can cross, I can do all of it. I look like Rocky!” “On holidays I eat whatever I feel like,” she told Women’s Health. “But on tour the catering is a lot of grilled chicken—nothing fried. Everything is organic, and I have soy milk. No chips in sight—if they’re in front of you, you eat them.”

Beyoncé: An upper body workout can get boring with all those repetitions, so Knowles added her own twist. “I’ll put on a song that I really like and do [biceps curls with] 5-pound weights the whole song,” she told us. Or, using 3-pound weights, she’ll box for the length of one track. [Doesn't count, everyone knows Beyoncé is a robot.]

Megan Fox: “I’m very lazy. I hire a personal trainer who is supposed to come three times a week. He comes to me – I don’t even have to leave the house. He’ll come to my house and I’ll be lying in the exact same spot he left me in. I’ll be like: ‘Not today! Not today!’” Even though Fox doesn’t like to exercise, she does it in order to keep those flat abs. She starts with 30 minutes of cardio, and then another half an hour of Pilates or cycling to burn some more calories and keep her slim figure.

The guys over at Egotastic! might need a change of pants after viewing Kristen Stewart‘s editorial in Vogue shot by (surprise!) Mario Testino. She’s attained the covetable status of “second stage hotness,” as opposed to ” the first stage that burns off after take-off, but the second stage of hotness, that keeps up with repeat viewings….” Straight guys continue to baffle and amuse me.

She’s pretty, I’ll admit that, but I’m distracted by her vacant stare, uncomfortable posing and the overall uninteresting composition of the image.

I mean, this hasn’t even taken on first stage hotness for me.

I didn’t even think Kristen Stewart appealed to guys; here I thought they all wanted the Megan Foxes and Jessica Albas and other so-called actresses with that va-va-voom (read: slut) factor.

Well, at least Egotastic! and I can agree on one point regarding Ms. Stewart:

“She’s got the bird flipping angry cigarette smoking teen girl angst thing going on, and, let’s be real, that’s annoying.”

Once upon a time, hottie/alleged actress Jessica Alba vowed she would never do a nude scene. However, if you went to theaters and saw Machete, or saw it on bootleg DVD like I did, you might have thought your eyes were playing tricks on you.

Turns out, Alba kept to her word, and the above image shows that her bra and panties in the original cut of the film were digitally removed for its release.

And also a a few lbs were shaved off around her midsection too.

Welcome to the future of hypocrisy! What difference does it make if Alba’s actually nakey or not? Guys (and some ladies) will still whack off to it, regardless.

Usually lightening your hair is a youth-enhancing move, right? We’ve seen Jessica Alba looking hot with lighter locks before, but this time it’s not so pretty. I think it has more to do with the cut than the color – she just looks ways beyond her 27 years. While the shade washes her out, the shape is just blah … I hope she’s just growing it all out; this ‘do just brings back memories of 4th grade.

Pajamas? From the lords of sexy Italian fashion? Really Dolce & Gabbana, could these be any grosser? The design duo’s spring 09 collection included these pajamas meant to be worn out in public. I have no idea the rational behind them, but at least they have one fan. Jessica Alba showed up at a screening of My Bloody Valentine 3-D in Los Angeles wearing one of these vulgar creations. Congratulations, Alba, on once again failing miserably to dress yourself. I know times are tough, but could you hire a stylist PLEASE?

Did Jessica Alba make a New Year’s resolution to dress terribly?

It’s only the first full week of 2009!

Yesterday she wore not one, but two horrendous get-ups.

First, the purple high-waisted drawstring pegged pants to a Beverly Hills party.

Then she wore jammies — D&G, yes, but still fugly jammies — to the premiere of My Bloody Valentine Thursday night in Hollywood.

She’s got such a pretty face and a cute little body. But she’s ruining my day with this. She used to dress okay, right? Maybe?

As the new face of Campari, Jessica Alba did a photo shoot for the brand’s most recent campaign. I am astonished at how much they airbrushed her body and face. In the before Photoshop picture, she looks gorgeous and full of life. The after shot makes her look bony, uncomfortable and unnatural. I don’t understand why someone with a figure as lovely as hers is subject to such extreme touch-ups. If you’re going to make people look like aliens, at least do a better job. It’s bad when a Photoshop amateur like myself is telling the big guns their work sucks.

Jessica Alba shows off her body-after-baby in the 2009 Campari calendar, and PEOPLE has a sneak peek of the pictures that the actress says allowed her “play out this sort of bombshell.”

“I’m usually walking around in comfy clothes, with a baby on my arm,” says Alba, 27, who welcomed daughter Honor Marie Warren in June, “and it’s nice to dress things up and feel sophisticated, sexy, and surrounded by so much beauty.”

Campari is printing only 9,999 copies of the calendar featuring photos of Alba in swimsuits, high heels and evening wear. The calendar will be distributed at the end of the year.

This week actress Scarlett Johansson spoke out against the media, calling them sexist , because of the deal they made over her e-mail exchanges with Barack Obama.

“It seemed to me to be like a product of extreme sexism, and I kept thinking to myself, ‘God, if this was just, like, Kal Penn or George Clooney or any of the other [Obama] surrogates or supporters … there wouldn’t be [any] question about it. Nobody would even talk about it.”

Okay, look the media is not sexist. They are just calling it like they see it. If you don’t want to be regarded solely as being sexy, maybe you shouldn’t keep agreeing to do sexy photo shoots.

If you thought we were over the weird baby name thing, you’re in for a sweet surprise. A New Zealand family court has ordered a 9-year-old girl to undergo a name change. Painful process..I know. The little girl named Talula Does The Hula felt close to her roots from native Hawaii until the court had to interferre. “It makes a fool of the child and sets her up with a social disability and handicap,” says the concerned court. Thankfully someone got the idea!

Along with the order of the name change several names were band from the faces of innocence including Fish and Chips, Yeah Detroit, Keenan Got Lucy and Sex Fruit. Sadly, the number 16, Bus Shelter and Violence are still permitted. Well, at least it’s a start.

Let’s get real, this is becoming ridiculous! With names like Pilot Inspektor and Camera, kids in the next generation are sure to be jumping off cliffs for the ultimate plunge. Someone needs to start thinking about these kids. Or at least keep them under watch. I certainly don’t know what it’s like to walk around as a fruit and I would never wish that upon anyone. When a kid grows up and asks why he’s named Brooklyn and the answer is because that’s where he was conceived, it’s a suicide waiting to happen. Come on everyone, let’s try and keep the parents away from the cocktails.

In today’s world, once someone is tagged a celebrity it becomes a custom for them to think it’s okay to act in abnormal fashion. Normally, this doesn’t phase us, but it really has gone to far. How much money are magazines willing to pay for a baby photo? Although I could say this is just as much a reporters fault as it is the celebrities, I won’t, because the celebs should really learn not to auction off their picture perfect family photo album.

Maddie: 1 million

Honor: 1.5 million

Aside from the fact that it’s just outright ridiculous, let’s walk a couple years into the future and act like we think about these kids even for a second. I can picture the whole fight going down. “I was worth 10 million at two days old.” And the of course the retaliation, “I was worth 10.5.” And there you have it, while Apple and Moses double team Shiloh, there’s Harlow in the corner because she was only worth one.

Harlow: 1 million

Not only are these sons and daughters going to be burdened by their worth, their names will manage to haunt them as well. Honor? Moses? Come on. I can picture all the kids taunting Apple with fruit in the cafeteria as Coco sits next to her with requests for hot chocolate. Make it stop! Please, for the sake of your kids. It’s depression waiting to happen.
