Jewels for Jesus
Shop Indie: Omega JFK Watch

With little more than a week before Barack Obama is to be sworn in, the country hasn’t been this excited for an incoming president since another stylish set of Democrats moved into the White House back in the ’60s. To mark the occasion and commemorate John F. Kennedy’s timeless style, Omega has reissued the ultra thin timepiece the man wore during his inauguration on January 20th, 1961.
The company crafted a limited run of 261 watches, with the same 18-karat gold casing and slim black crocodile leather strap as the original. Yes, it’ll cost you a pretty penny, but then again, it’s probably cheaper than a ticket to the inauguration.

FYI: JFK original, which was given to him on the campaign trail by his friend Grant Stockdale, was purchased by Omega at auction in 2005 for $350,000.

Burberry Goes Punk!

When I hear the brand Burberry, I automatically think preppy wool peacoats and the typical black, red, beige and white check pattern. Well, stereotype no more! Thanks to the faces of Kate Moss and Agyness Deyn and the first-rate designs of Christopher Bailey, Burberry is on it’s way from prep to punk with its collection of British punk jewelry! Could this be a whole new aesthetic for Burberry…first their young and dynamic scent “The Beat,” which is amazing might I add, and now the studded, chained, meshed and plated jewelry? Fine by me!
Thanks Bleach Black!
Shop Indie: The Food Necklace: Fashion And Nutrition In One

While the Candy Necklace might not have been designer His-Ju Chang’s primary inspiration, she has certainly refined the art. Here is her solution to global hunger: the Food Necklace!
Chang proposes that the food surplus in “over-consumption” areas of the world be taken, dried out, and used for nutrition balls. These nutrition balls consist of “whole vegetable or fruit including peel and fresh or root and leaves,” and can be prepared for consumption placing them in water, milk, or soup.
In addition, this product can be made into an urban-landscape product (she compares them to tic-tacs) by making them tiny for small meals and snacks.

Tasteful Not Tacky: Prada Makes Costume Jewelry

I couldn’t be less of a fan of costume jewelry. Something about oversized cubic zirconia, blinding bling and a rainbow of jewels thrown together doesn’t exactly make an outfit look elegant or glamourous. Actually, it does exactly the opposite, making the wearer appear to be gawdy and lacking in the taste department. Well, remind me to bite my tongue the next time I generalize and say “all costume Jewelry is tacky,” because Prada truly picked up the slack for all costume jewelry designers everywhere.
Finally! Costume jewelry that is modern, chic, glamorous and wearable, all at the same time! Unlike some of the antique pieces, the Prada costume jewelry won’t exactly break the bank (pieces range anywhere from $200-$800). I absolutely adore the sleek black chain-link necklace as well as the gold geometric choker! Just in time for the holidays, you might want to leave Santa an extra cookie and a taller glass of milk!
Thanks NYLON!

The Only Moustache Better Than Chuck Norris’

These solid gold moustache chains are hotter than Kanye’s Jesus piece. For $200 a piece you can rock the most baller ’stache on the block. Your choices are either bushy or well constructed.
Don’t get too cocky though or Chuck Norris will roundhouse the crap out of you for not respecting the moustache he prides himself on. For more on these amazing pieces check out Magic Pony.
Designer Discovery: Ishi Glinsky

About two years ago Ishi Glinsky began designing jewelry to help fill the void in the world of men’s accessories. Now ONE FOUR FIVE ONE is a full-fledged jewelry line.
Initially, he fashioned the pieces out of found objects. Now he still maintains the collage look by combining regular jewelry elements (chains, stones, beads) with antique objects. The end result fuses stylistic influences of pirates, dadaism, and Native Americans.
In addition to hand-making his pieces, Glinsky recently had an installation of larger-than-life versions of his chains at the BPMW showroom in downtown L.A.’s Cooper Building.
