Hello indies! Welcome to a new feature on Fashion Indie called Red Carpet Report Card. Most of fashion’s biggest names weren’t born to design royalty: they weren’t raised in fashion capitals like New York or Paris (Todd Oldham and Tom Ford hail from Texas) and some didn’t even start out in fashion (Christian Dior was an art dealer) or go to school for it (Miuccia Prada has a PhD in Political Science).

Orange in far from my favorite color, but I was happy to see such a bright outlook for spring. Yes, New York, there are other colors besides black.
I love the three above looks from Jil Sander, Prada and Versus, respectively. My closet is already filled with bright hues, but I am looking forward to adding more come spring.

Many of you may be familiar with Takeshi ‘Beat’ Kitano due to Spike‘s overdubbing his game show Takeshi’s Magic Castle as Most Extreme Challenge. However, Kitano is also a prolific artist and filmmaker in Japan and Sonatine is probably the best of his many gangland opuses. Let’s take a look!
