Nothing tells the details of debauchery like the contents of a lady’s purse.

Jill Stuart‘s spring 2012 collection was heavy on pastels and short on pants — if involving pants at all. Twas an enjoyable mix of granny and tranny, though there were some weird quilted fabric numbers resembling bed comforters that wouldn’t look good on anyone.

Later this week, Spring 2012 will permeate the interwebs, making us go googly eyed over trends we won’t fully appreciate for another six months. Meanwhile, I stepped outside today to the first NY chill of the season. So before I get Spring Fever over New York Fashion Week, let’s chat about the looks we’ve been lusting over for Fall that we finally get to put to werq.

Inspired by the mystery and dense wildlife of Germany’s Black Forest, Jill Stuart brought about a collection of of burnt perfect hues, drop hip pleats and abstract landscapes. The deep red glows orange like the morning sun, transitions into the shaded blues and greens of the wooded sky, and fades into sunset tinged gold and salmon. Likewise, in this natural circle of life, the fox that she endears us to on her landscape prints…. become fur vests and ponchos in the following looks. AND a look at the highlights after the jump.

Hailey Clauson who is signed with FORD and Marilyn modeling agencies can best be recognized as the white girl version of Victoria’s Secret‘s hottie Adriana Lima. If anyone knows dresses, it’s Jill Stuart. And she comes by her fashion chops quite honestly: her parents ran the iconic ’60s label Mister Pants, which dressed leading ladies of the day like Lucille Ball and Natalie Wood. As a result, Stuart was raised in the world of fashion and, at only fifteen, sold her first collection to Bloomingdale’s. Needless to say, there was nowhere to go but up from there, and that she has—especially in the arena of dresses. With their sheer silks and rebellious hemlines, Stuart’s girly designs border on daring, but always remain proper. We love the understatedly sexy allure of this strapless lemon yellow silk gown from her JILL Jill Stuart line for that very reason. Statement-making without being forward, its sweetheart neckline, draped folds, and stunning color are one way to stop all conversation in a room (in a great way).
