“At the Dior show, trying to fight my way backstage to get a quote from John Galliano, I nearly fell over a tiny, grey-haired woman who, from the back, I took to be a septuagenarian Japanese fashion fanatic, as she was dressed head-to-toe in Comme des Garçons. When she was ushered into the inner sanctum before me, and turned around, I saw, with a sick lurch, that it was actually Tavi Gevinson…Had I not been so busy trying to attract Galliano’s attention, I would have asked Mr Gevinson why he thought it was right to take his daughter out of school to go to haute couture shows, where she would be treated like a celebrity by paparazzi? Or why he thought it OK for her to model for Pop and Love magazines last year?” (more…)
I was flipping through some Spring 2010 menswear galleries earlier today when I noticed one reoccurring face in particular, the adorable, boyish face of model Francisco Lachowski. From Gucci to Kenzo and Dsquared to John Galliano, 2009 really catalyzed Lachowski’s career with Ford Models. After winning a modeling competition in December 2008, Lachowski not only landed himself a modeling contract, but appeared in a Dior Homme advertisement as well as numerous editorials for various magazines. Not bad for a kid who just turned 18!
Check out more photos of Francisco Lachowski here!
“Galliano” the up coming diffusion line by the famed John Galliano has announced it’s launch for Fall 2010. I’ve become more and more concerned with all the diffusion lines we are seeing lately, and I’m interested in seeing how this particular one will work. (more…)
Olivier Dahan’s The Lady Noire Affair left off with a man in distress and the promise of Marion Cotillard’s return for The Lady Rouge. Lynch, Cotillard and Galliano are apparently in Shanghai this week filming the next segment. (more…)
By now I’m sure you’ve seen Russell Brand and Katy Perry canoodling at the John Galliano show, but what I saw was that trench he was wearing! Russell was repping his John Galliano at John Galliano. Would it be awkward seeing the outfit you’re wearing walking down the runway?
Inspired by the craziness that is Los Angeles, John Galliano’s Spring 2010 collection was all things symbolic of the City of Angels (although the red lazer lit runway looked more like devil!). As per usual, looks were over the top, clashing, somewhat gaudy and styled to the max- an obvious addition to the Galliano family. As separates, the variety of beige blazers and jackets were staple pieces, acting as a somewhat stable basis for the collection.
John Galliano travelled back in time to the 1940’s for his Spring 2010 collection, bringing some modern versions of mini trench coats and a hell-of- a lot of lingerie inspired pieces. Things remained pretty true to the Dior house, sexy while keeping classy and affluent. I can’t say there’s anything jaw dropping about this collection, but it’s gorgeous, so not too many complaints from this peanut gallery!
Dita Von Teese rocks an all black leather look to the John Galliano for Dior show.
Earlier she tweeted: “Headed to Dior in full blown 50’s domina leather. If Mr. Dior were to design a suit for a dominatrix, this is how it would look.” (more…)
