Russell Brand Wore Galliano At Galliano

galliano 2010

By now I’m sure you’ve seen Russell Brand and Katy Perry canoodling at the John Galliano show, but what I saw was that trench he was wearing! Russell was repping his John Galliano at John Galliano.  Would it be awkward seeing the outfit you’re wearing walking down the runway?

RUNWAY: John Galliano Spring 2010

RUNWAY: John Galliano Spring 2010 fashionInspired by the craziness that is Los Angeles, John Galliano’s Spring 2010 collection was all things symbolic of the City of Angels (although the red lazer lit runway looked more like devil!). As per usual, looks were over the top, clashing, somewhat gaudy and styled to the max- an obvious addition to the Galliano family. As separates, the variety of beige blazers and jackets were staple pieces, acting as a somewhat stable basis for the collection.

RUNWAY: Christian Dior Spring 2010

RUNWAY: Christian Dior Spring 2010 fashionJohn Galliano travelled back in time to the 1940’s for his Spring 2010 collection, bringing some modern versions of mini trench coats and a hell-of- a lot of lingerie inspired pieces. Things remained pretty true to the Dior house, sexy while keeping classy and affluent. I can’t say there’s anything jaw dropping about this collection, but it’s gorgeous, so not too many complaints from this peanut gallery!

STYLE: Dita Von Teese in Head to Toe Leather

58538676

Dita Von Teese rocks an all black leather look to the John Galliano for Dior show.

Earlier she tweeted: “Headed to Dior in full blown 50’s domina leather. If Mr. Dior were to design a suit for a dominatrix, this is how it would look.”

RUNWAY: Dsquared² Spring 2010

RUNWAY: Dsquared² Spring 2010 fashionReally, Dean and Dan Caten, are we really joining the overly gaudy, completely unwearable bandwagon, cultivated by Alexander McQueen and John Galliano? I’m basically speechless. The gorgeous silhouettes and fabulous structure of yesteryear have been replaced by  the tacky, camping inspired backpack corset dress, camouflage poncho, fish-net tee and lifejacket denim vests. Blah.

BACKSTAGE: John Galliano Spring 2010 Menswear fashion

You haven’t seen boys in makeup until you’ve seen the models from John Galliano’s Spring 2010 menswear showing. With an Arabian Nights meets “Lord of the Flies” vibe, the boys were decked out in foliage headgear, covered in tan makeup, painted with facial hair and fake abs, making it hard to recognize even the most famous of models! Even I couldn’t recognize Cole Mohr or Ash Stymest…tis a sad day in the life of Kirby.

BASH: Daniel Saynt on The Met Costume Gala

DISCLAIMER: I am not a nice person. When I don’t get invited to parties I get seriously pissed to the point where I begin to thoroughly bash those who did go. It’s a sickness, but I enjoy the symptoms. Here are the celebrities that went and what I have to say about them. Don’t read ahead if you’re  a pussy who loves everything. You make me sick. Grow a pair and get the fuck off my post.

Hugs and Disses,

Daniel Saynt

Considering all her recent topless, beer belly shots its amazing that Kate Moss was able to vomit up enough cocaine boogers to squeeze into this gold thingy. Seriously though, have you seen her naked lately, it’s like she went from model to mom. I hate to say I miss Pete Doherty, but at least he kept the girl thin.

Sidenote to Marc. Dating a hot Brazilian hombre does not make you a hot Brazilian hombre by association. One more shade of brown and you’ll just about burn the jew out of you and well officially start calling you Valentino Jr.

BASH: Daniel Saynt on The Met Costume Gala fashion

I only enjoy looking at Anna Wintour when she’s standing next to her hot step-daughter Bee. This editor seriously needs to consider a new look cause she’s getting grannylicious on us. You were the shit in 2007, now you’re just shit. Get something done immediately cause your magazine is just bleeding ink right now and there’s nothing exciting about it. Just a thought from one editor to another.

P.S. Can we get more tits in American Vogue? Paris Vogue is getting way to expensive on the monthly.

Andre Leon Tally looks like he’s part of some super secret society like The Skulls or that one from Eyes Wide Shut Gossip Girl expect instead of accepting members based on their status and cool, they only accept fat asses who wear muumuu’s to cover up their jelly rolls.

SIDENOTE: How many desperate gay interns to you think fit under that thing?

Nothing says “NOTICE ME” better than wearing a wedding dress to the gala.

Great job Elizabeth Hurley on not seeming at all desperate.

QUOTABLE: John Galliano

QUOTABLE: John Galliano fashion

“I remember the first time I met Stephen Jones – it was in a club, in the Eighties, and I was a student at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design and obsessed with my work. The first time I asked him if he would do some hats for me, he just turned, looked at me and said, ‘I don’t think so, dear’” recalls Galliano, with whom Jones has since worked his millinery magic on creations for both John Galliano and Dior collections.

“I am so glad he had a change of heart. Just as I wouldn’t leave the house without a hat, I couldn’t do a show now without Stephen Jones,” Galliano writes in this weekend’s Style magazine. “I am thrilled that Stephen Jones has gathered an exhibition of treasures together for the Victoria & Albert Museum. He conjures up creations that bring Galliano and Dior shows to life, and he is the icing on any collection he touches.”

TRENDSPARK: Morbid Models On The Runway

TRENDSPARK: Morbid Models On The Runway fashion

The runways in Paris and Milan have had a few models that looked like they stepped right off the set of a zombie flick. The back form the dead models were seen walking in big name shows like John Galliano, Gareth Pugh and Alexander McQueen. Could this be a result of an evolving heroine chic? Either way I’m down, the creepier the better!

BEHIND THE BEAUTY: John Galliano

BEHIND THE BEAUTY: John Galliano fashion

At John Galliano’s fashion show the look Galliano was going for to me was…well you decide.

On of my favorite makeup artists, Pat McGrath teamed up with hairstylist Julien d’Ys creating a kaleidoscope of looks with inspiration taken from sources around the period of the 17th century including William Hogarth, James Gillray and Queen Elizabeth’s security guards.

McGrath used eyeliner in Night clubbing and Max Factor 2000 Calorie mascara.

d’Ys, added voluminous wigs in cotton-candy colors and sprayed others into multicolored spikes, which were plastered with Galliano-print paper.

Ad-dict: John Galliano F/W 08-09

Ad dict: John Galliano F/W 08 09 fashion

John Galliano knows how to push the sex appeal button. And he does it to please both men and women. The F/W 08-09 Galliano jewelry ad campaign is deliciously provocative and shows the pieces in an attractive light. Dagger necklaces, large pendants and oversized rings, all with gold details, provide the nice contrast of heavy metal against supple skin. If the male model comes with any of the pieces, sign me up ASAP.

Yet Another ‘Au Revoir’

Yet Another Au Revoir fashionDecember. The month to sing “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” and do some major Christmas damage. With the current economic state taking a toll on numerous boutiques throughout the New York area, Linda Dresner, the phenomenal Park Avenue boutique, will join the many folding businesses as they will close shop next month. December isn’t so wonderful anymore, now is it? It was Dresner who brought couture labels like Comme des Garcons, Chloe, Charles Anastase and John Galliano to the Upper East Side nearly 20 years back. The failing fashion industry was best summarized by Dresner herself:

“There’s too much of everything right now. Would I open a store in New York today? No. Retailing has to be reconsidered. It’s become a commodity that’s less creative. There’s too many stores selling the same kind of merchandise and it’s not as beautifully chosen. It’s ruined the enthusiasm for fashion.”

Basically, boutiques need to be unique in order to survive. If four shops on Bleecker, within a three block radius, carry the same Jill Sander coat, of course shops aren’t going to make any money! Customers could use an incentive every now and then too.

So long, Linda Dresner, we’re sad to see you go.

Thanks Fashionista!
