Thanks to the release of a little book called The Dark Knight: Featuring Production Art, we are able to look through some of the conceptual illustrations of the production process. Here are the images of the early joker, which of course later turned into a less creepy more sinister version.

I am a little late to the game, but what’s the deal with Maggie Gyllenhaal’s cover for Tatler magazine? Who is the hack editor who would ever let this image be the cover?!

Is it a not so well thought out nod to The Dark Knight? Did the Joker serve as inspiration?
